Thanks so much!! Maybe something we’re not familiar with, but we definitely considered buying a new RV and couldn’t find any layouts like this! The only ones like it were the cruise america or rental company RV’s, but you can’t buy those ones directly. Let us know if there’s any models you know of!
It’s so true! Frustrating looking at new ones and can’t find a floor plan we like more - and it even has real wood cabinets!! Those are harder to find than Bigfoot in newer RVs 🤣
Gab that was the most entertaining commentary I have yet heard! Thanks dor showing us your home without telling us about every single item in your storage space. I think both i side a d outsidd your home is lovely. Look after yourselves and have a great time traveling (and working) Best wishes from Aotearoa-New Zealand,
Hahaha aweee thank you!!! 😅❤️ We’ve watched a lot of tours and glad you noticed we tried to only show some of the highlights to make it a bit more engaging. Cheers!
Right? It’s been awesome for us! I wish someone made a newer RV model with the primary bed above the cab, bc yeah it creates SO much more living space 😄
Great video! You can use paintable caulk for the cracks on your cabinets, and I keep our Landry baskets in the shower, pop them out to shower and pop them back in when we are done! hope that helps!
We were on the road full time for a few years, and we had a big mesh bag we would put in the shower for dirty laundry. Easy to pull out and take a shower. We had a 26' we bought from a relative that was a mess. My husband renovated and I came up with the decor. Hippie/Hawaiian. 😅 We now bought a house on the Oregon coast, miss all the traveling. Have a great time.
I lived in a 27' motorhome class C.for 6 months. It is common for a bed to be above the cab in a class C. Thats one of the purposes of that style. There are plenty of them on the road. I think they are the best designed rv. Did a trip around the country in it. The best times!
That's awesome! And you're right that just about all class c's have the bunk cab over but the main difference is that is our only bed! Most other class 's the bunk is additional sleeping quarters
Class C’s are very common to have the bed above the cab. Unless the rv is under 20 feet. Ours is 30 feet and we have a queen bed above the cab and also a queen in the back that we can walk around 2 sides. Love the half booth/half chairs. That was a great idea. 😊. We keep our laundry bag in the shower. Most rv parks we have stayed at have really nice showers, so we rarely have used our shower. We have a small water heater. 7 min max showers.
You’re right about the over-the-cab bed, however ours is a bit unique because it’s the ONLY bed, which makes sense for us because we don’t need two 🤣 Just allows us to be smaller in size but still have everything we need! Interesting thought of laundry in the shower, might have to reconsider 🤔 Our setup “works” but feels like it could use an improvement haha, thanks!
Your Rv seems so huge inside. Especially the bathroom. You dont have alot of clutter so that helps even with gas mileage, to keep it simple. You really found a great rig! So Perfect to make your own. 💝
Wow. That is a great rig! Have never seen that particular layout. We renovated our 2014 30" Class C, which I love, but I think you have more storage space inside than we do. We have a bedroom in the back but I personally love that overcab bunk space for naps and a reading loft. I love your layout. We also painted our cabinets white and you can do white caulk around those spaces where the paint is cracking and it should look finished. New sub!
Thank you!! We should’ve mentioned it but we made custom covers for the overhead bunk which helps so much for heat/insulation but you’re right it’s so cozy up there 😊 and thanks for the pro tip on caulking the cabinets! Definitely will give this a try!
Great job with the remodel guys, it looks very spacious and comfortable. However, for me, there is no way on earth I could sleep up in the cab because with the way I sleep, I would have a broken bone every single night. I would be falling off that thing every 10 minutes.
You can add an Extend-A-Stay attachment to your propane tank that allows you to have a external tank attached and you wont have to drive out to fill your propane. We had them on all our motorhomes and they are fantastic. Available on Amazon and really easy to fit.
Just bought a 2006 25' Gulf Stream Conquest Class C. Would love to paint the inside, redo the bench seats, new curtains, etc - Just hard to find the time as I work full-time and have a house to maintain. Too cold now, maybe I will just do one section at a time...
That sounds fun! It's definitely something you can do a section at a time on weekends or whatever. Id recommend making a project plan of everything you want to do to help it from feeling overwhelming/never-ending 😅
Really nice rebuild. Nice kitchen. That’s a big fridge, I have a 5.1 and it’s plenty big enough. ,, Pretty much every class c has an over cab bed. Funny how older class c used swappable 20 lb. Propane tanks which I like better anyways.
Nice, I believe the older units are better built, love the 450 heavy duty chassis versus the 350. Must have tremendous Cargo Carrying Capacity (CCC) Keeping the bed off the floor is a great idea for max floor space. Nicely done✌🏼
New subscriber. So happy I found your channel. Retired and considering a drivable RV. Enjoying your vids. Really like the changes you’ve made. Am going through your vid list now. Thank you and look forwforward to the next one!!!
Makes us so happy to hear!! The adventure is out there, just gotta go get after it! Keep us posted on what you go with, we do like the drivable life for now 😁
Newer models of class C’s.. (ours is a 2012) don’t come with ovens. When we bought ours we had the option for the oven or 3 drawers instead. We chose the storage.
That’s nice to have the option! We thought we’d use ours for storage but just never really open it haha. Dedicated storage is a bit more practical for sure!
Thanks so much! We're glad you found our channel 😄 We did a big trip this past summer but are still working through what we want to do next year - let us know if you have any fun ideas!
Thanks for the suggestion! It's definitely something we've thought about if we upgrade our AC. They also make ones much quieter and more efficient now which would be nice
It looks like you have more room and storage in your 27' than I did in my 2013 28' Jaco Jaybird with slide out trailer. I got rid of mine because it was too big for just me.
Did you go to a smaller trailer then? We first considered going with a smaller trailer to pull with a Tacoma/Ranger or something but none of them felt like they had enough room. Also didn’t want a big truck/trailer bc of difficulty maneuvering, so that’s why we landed on this! 😅
I replaced all the interior incandescent lights in our travel trailer with LED lights. They were cooler and brighter but they have not lasted. They were expensive but began flashing after just one or two seasons. I would be interested to know if your LED interior lights have survived the life on the road. Thanks!
The roof definitely has some soft spots and places with light water damage, but when we got the RV we resealed everything and actually repainted the roof as well. Have not had any roof leaks in our time of ownership!
We’re in the last key, key west! We’re fortunate that Gaby’s parents own a campground so we don’t pay rent, but most campgrounds are quite expensive around $2k-$4k/month depending on the season.
Yeah it’s definitely on the smaller end for a c class on this chassis. Smallest being ~24ft and biggest maybe 35. Don’t think we’d want to drive one that big 😅
Hey! We still have the original toilet which we plan on replacing since the lid recently broke. It goes directly to our black tank which works fine for us. A composting toilet is great for conserving water but has yet to be an issue for us. We plan on replacing it with a dometic 310 toilet which is ceramic instead of plastic. More durable and easier to clean than plastic!
I LOVE THIS! Ok I had been looking into similar RV's, my concern was with slide outs. Afraid it will fail and not slide in/out! Is that ever a problem?
Slides do tend to be a point of failure, but we have not had any issues with ours! It does have a manual override you can access from behind the drivers seat if we need to though!
Your dirty laundry needs to be in a bag that hangs put a command hook in the potty closet and hang the laundry bag in there. Also if your deal breaker is being able to access everything with the slide in you better hang on to what you got that is impossible to find in a newer unit!
What type/brand of paint did you use on the walls and cabinets? We bought an older RV recently and are doing some renovation on it. Your walls look fantastic! Thanks. Happy Trails.
We did a big circle around the US! Started from Florida to Michigan, then over to washington, down through California/Arizona and then back to Florida through Texas, Louisiana, etc. a lot of national parks and chasing good weather by staying in the mountains for a lot of the time
@@margaretb2269 We'll see, pretty happy for the time being. For the two of us (+ pup) it's a great size. We do love being in an RV, and would be able to go significantly bigger if we wanted to, but I think if anything we'd want to size down a bit if we were to get something else. Just prioritize drivability/efficiency a little bit more than living space but everyone's different!
Thank you!! Great question, we’ve never had this be an issue but we do a lot of boondocking and state parks. Typically age restriction comes from private and somewhat upscale rv resorts.
Thank you!! Been working out for us so far 🤞 We got a mount from Trio Flatmount. I think it was the only option back then but now spacex makes one directly. It is semi-permanently attached, so up there all the time while driving and everything, but can remove it if we need to!
It is semi-permanently mounted to the roof. The mount for it (Trio Flatmount) is attached with adhesive to the roof and then the starlink snaps right into it, so we are able to also UNsnap it to remove if we need to (if we are parked in a shady spot, for example, and want to move it away from trees). But it works great 99% of the time!
I am 56 years old and walk with a walker do you think i could make it in a class c rv?? I have been really considering it! But I only make 1,200 a month on disability and I have congestive heart failure as well as a bunch of other stuff! But I want to see the grand canyon, the red wood forest, go back to Yellowstone " i grew up very close to Yellowstone "
Hard to say based on your specific situation, but definitely the more you drive the more things are going to cost. If we weren’t going to move at all I think we could probably get by with living off about 2k/month, with driving maybe 3k. Just to give you a rough estimate of our situation, but of course everyone is different!
Others just use mobile hotspots that pull from cell towers. Can use a cell booster antenna for more range, but there’s still definitely places it won’t reach. It works better than Starlink in forested areas though. We just use our hotspot from our phones as a backup but a dedicated device works better
i have met and talked to several FT van life people, and i still dont get it (unless converted to a full class b). the stuff people put up with for almost no benefit is absolutely confounding!
@@Wesmancan "homelessness" is the word the working drones use to try to make us nomads feel bad, while at the same time attempting to put their own meaningless existences on a "higher class".
That's what I've seen others do in C classes with an additional bed in the back, but it seems like it's hard to fully use all of the whole area for storage. Using it as a primary bed feels like a better use of space for us! 🤷♂️
I’m trying so hard to find one of these that’s reasonably priced. Bc they once were!!!!! But these are the best ones so why would they be affordable!!!!
Can totally relate to this, we considered doing this for 2 years until we came across this deal and in part of why it was a deal is that it needed work. Whatever you decide on trying to move forward with just make sure you’re comfortable with the work involved as it will always need more than you think + the work never stops 😅 with all that being said, we still continue to choose this lifestyle because we love it so much!
Interesting thought 🤔 guess we could frame it out and paint it white to match, I would probably remove the area that the microwave is at for more of an open space 🤷♀️
Haha everyone’s different! I do think an RV has an advantage of being able to move to new places and mix things up a bit to get a change of scenery. But some people love cabins in the woods as well!
Motorcycle, scooter, bike, whatever you want to call it. Definition can change based on the person or where you are in the world. This does fall under the definition of a motorcycle, although that’s not what most people in the US typically think of
The American come Up with a new concept of living RV lifestyle can not be viable. The RV park owners can turn shipping container into an RV for rent a few hundred dollar a month even better than RV . People just drive their car with luggage come and live for a few weeks or a few months. Why do you need to drag a massive RV like a truck with you from state to state ? to show the world you have a hundred thousand dollar asset not poor and homeless? 😂
I would agree with you in some instances, specifically when people only use an RV maybe one trip a year. But for a long-term/full time use case there’s tons of other benefits, these are just a few: - comfort of home - cost savings on accommodations, food, etc - can bring our dog anywhere (most rentals aren’t pet friendly) - can stay in remote locations, so we can get closer to nature - bring our internet/office with us to work remote (not all places have wifi/cell service)
No worries! We got inspired in this lifestyle by watching over renovations and how others were able to manage full time rv life. It’s a beautiful thing! Just wanted to pass it forward and share the journey ❤️
If it’s made in America between 2021-20 whatever I won’t touch it with a million foot pole!! Unless/until the American manufacturers start stepping up their quality, I’m out. I would rather go to Europe and buy from there. Sorry not sorry!! America needs to get quality control in check. Almost every review I see from an RV purchased between 2021-and now, has major problems. And add to that, that you will be wasting/waiting for an undetermined amount of time before they even think about looking at the problems. And then you will be waiting an additional unknown amount of time before they fix it. So as I have said before, I will spend an extra $50,000-$100,000 for something custom built in a way smaller RV, then I would ever think about buying anything built in America from 2021-now. Hopefully people stop spending money on garbage that will spend most of its life in a bay waiting for repairs!! I no longer support any American manufacturer of RV’s/motorhomes unless/until they actually start carrying about the quality they give to customers!!
This is definitely an underrated take that we completely agree with!! We were looking at new models but the quality was horrific in the 2020+ models. With our unit having real wood cabinets this doesn’t exist until $250k+ price range a lot of the time and then the face plates of the cabinets are still plastic! We would LOVE to buy a European rv as we love the size and quality but the big caveat is who would work on them if something went wrong and the worry of sourcing parts. For this reason we’ve thought of doing our own build since we can control the quality, possibly down the road 🤪
@@gabandbren that is exactly why my husband and I are willing to downsize to a class B. We can have it built to our specifications and know 100% that the quality is backed by a small company that takes care of their customers. I wish we had the option of having any European manufacturers in the US. Without having to try and source parts from Europe.
Over the cab bed is super common as the only bed in shorter class Cs.

Love that ya'll got a real truck instead of a van. How did ya'll mount the Starlink.
Thank you!! Been working out for us so far 🤞
We got a mount from Trio Flatmount. I think it was the only option back then but now spacex makes one directly. It is semi-permanently attached, so up there all the time while driving and everything, but can remove it if we need to!
@gabandbren thank you. We travel with five dogs and bought a super c.
@gabandbren how can I send ya'll pictures of all the stuff we did. And also if ya'll ever need any help with repair let us know.
@@marleroma3681 Thank you so much! You can email at bnofs13@gmail.com, although I wish youtube had a DM feature 🤔
How does that work for you permanently mounting starlink?
Just to give you a rough estimate of our situation, but of course everyone is different!
use the oven for storage
Yeahh we may at some point, but honestly haven't used all of our other storage space yet! Not a bad problem to have though haha
Nice!
Thank you! 😊
Are you in Sandestin Florida? I'm from that area and It looks like the Gulf rv park? Just curious.
Nope we’re in Key West! 😁
Is there an alternative to starlink?
Others just use mobile hotspots that pull from cell towers. Can use a cell booster antenna for more range, but there’s still definitely places it won’t reach. It works better than Starlink in forested areas though. We just use our hotspot from our phones as a backup but a dedicated device works better
i have met and talked to several FT van life people, and i still dont get it (unless converted to a full class b). the stuff people put up with for almost no benefit is absolutely confounding!
The fuel economy and maneuverability is tempting but we’re both relatively tall and a 50+lbs dog we’re on the class c life for now 🤣
@@gabandbren i get 8mpg with my 40 DP pulling a 3000#+ suv. i feel blessed, and could get by with far less.
Don’t have to work. Or just part time. They one step from homeless
@@Wesmancan "homelessness" is the word the working drones use to try to make us nomads feel bad, while at the same time attempting to put their own meaningless existences on a "higher class".
Who are you to decide what is or is not a benefit for someone else?
I'd put my clothes in the compartment over the driver's seats
Would be great to make full time bed over cab but unfortunately my hubby is a big guy. That would not work for us.
Yeah, the bed over cab is definitely not for everyone but feels like a hack if you can make it work!
What's Ur MPG on the road & Ur normal driving speed?
We drive at 62-65 and get just about 8mpg when we’ve tested it
Take the oven out and put the microwave where the oven was.
Interesting thought 🤔 guess we could frame it out and paint it white to match, I would probably remove the area that the microwave is at for more of an open space 🤷♀️
“Abode.Yes. ” “Pie A-La-Mode”. No. Nice Remodel.
Hahhaha thank you!! Needed the confirmation 😂
Excuse me, but what are you so excited about I get cabin fever in my cabin out in the woods after a few weeks.
Haha everyone’s different! I do think an RV has an advantage of being able to move to new places and mix things up a bit to get a change of scenery. But some people love cabins in the woods as well!
❤
Appreciate it! ❤️
❤❤❤
I put my dirty laundry in a garment bag, and I hang the garment bag in the shower
Not a bad idea - thanks!
Very nice setup 👌 🏕
Thank you so much! 😄
Is there a tiny home tour that doesn't contain the word 'super' or 'storage?'
Im not sure what’s wrong with the word super? But yes storage is pretty important in a smaller space! 😄
Umm the bed placement is a big no for me.
I have to use the bathroom in the middle of the night.
Yep, a minor problem but not a dealbreaker for us! Think the tradeoff is worth it but not for everyone 🤷
Definitely prefer a van = forced to downsize and more flexibility off the beaten path.
Definitely more flexibility! Just not sure we could both work remote in one - but definitely would consider in the future!
I can’t tell you how hard I recoiled when she put her shoes in the bed
Hahah I think that’s the first time we’ve ever done that! And of course it’s on display for the world to see 🤣
@ oh that’s tough 😅but if that’s the case I get it. You’re making a video, who has time to watch her remove her shoes
Motorcycle? 😂
Motorcycle, scooter, bike, whatever you want to call it. Definition can change based on the person or where you are in the world. This does fall under the definition of a motorcycle, although that’s not what most people in the US typically think of
Try not to say so so much😂😂😂
We’ll work on it, thanks 🤣
Having the bed over the cab is what makes it a class C. It’s FAR from rare. The opposite. It’s the norm.
We misspoke, apologies! The rare part is that it is the only/primary bed
But for a long-term/full time use case there’s tons of other benefits, these are just a few:
- comfort of home
- cost savings on accommodations, food, etc
- can bring our dog anywhere (most rentals aren’t pet friendly)
- can stay in remote locations, so we can get closer to nature
- bring our internet/office with us to work remote (not all places have wifi/cell service)
every other word is "sooooooo"
Still workin on gettin comfortable on camera - thanks for the feedback!
Oh, You were absolutely Perfect! She is just Plain Rude... 🤣🎇🐦💝
Such a B.
I know that rv is nasty and dirty with all dog in it dog hair's all in the foods
Isn’t that what having a dog is all about 🤣
Doesn't look nasty,don't be rude
Nice job, looks light and airy
boring, who cares how you two live?
No worries! We got inspired in this lifestyle by watching over renovations and how others were able to manage full time rv life. It’s a beautiful thing! Just wanted to pass it forward and share the journey ❤️
What a rude statement
If you don’t care, why did you watch? Or did you just want to say something rude? What a sad life you must endure.
The green eyed monster certainly comes out in people, it shows up in rude comments instead of just moving on.
