    New subscriber here! We live in Washington, so it’s great to have seen all the areas within our own state that we need to explore! We can’t wait! We currently have a 16ft Bambi, but have just sold our house, and have on order a classic 30ft coming in mid September. We are so excited! So In the meantime, we will live vicariously through you, until we are able to leave for our first official trip.

    We have a ‘11 27fbq classic - identical layout, slightly different details. We’re not yet retired empty nesters, and for the 2 of us it’s really perfect. We often have 1-2 grandchildren along, and it’s adequate for that (for a weekend). I always watch videos on similar ASs just to see how other people organize, and I always learn something. Thanks.

    Only thing I'm not keen on is the sliding doors, we have them in our spare room & I hate them but my husband loves them.
    In your kitchen cupboards boxes would help store your food.
    In your flour bag you may be advised to add a few bay leaves, to help keep flour bugs away.

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It's interesting, some people love the sliders, others don't. It's nice that they can be left open without the door being a head knocker.

    this is an awesome set up. i lived for 2 years in a class C and having a bedroom is number 1 on the list. having to climb and break down stuff in order sleep can get old. i do wonder about heat and cold with the airstream. other than that, i would forego storage in order to have your set up. wishing you peace, joy, and love on your adventures.

    Hi there we are in the UK and have an International 684 Airstream. It’s designed for the European market but it’s very similar to yours inside. The EU versions are lighter in weight than the US versions, we don’t have massive trucks to tow them, we tow ours with an Audi Q8. Airstream’s are quite rare in the UK. We’ve done quite a bit of travelling around Europe with ours but would love to do some really long trips. We just watched the video where you talked about moving out of your house to live in your Airstream, so my wife now wants to sell our house. Well keep posting your adventures. Many thanks Carl

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Very cool! Didn’t know that there was a different line of Airstreams for Europe. It makes sense, because it seems impossible for our massive trucks to share the narrow roads you have with other cars. There’s a lot to be said for towing a smaller, lighter trailer with similar features. Enjoy your travels-whether full-timing or returning to your home base whenever it feels right!

      Yea, the 25ft and the 27ft are my favorite models. The main difference is the 25ft Queen bed runs East-West, whereas the 27 goes North-South. I prefer the N-S alignment, but many people don’t care. Also the wardrobe is about twice the size in the 27 vs the 25. Great choice. Enjoy

    Just a comment, but for what Air Streams co$t you would think they would engineer the area @14:58 to be enclosed and not right under your pillow? I wonder if it's off gassing right where you're sleeping, or if the service get's hot? I just think that they could tub that in, seeing how most owners are upgrading with solar, inverters and battle born batteries...

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Lithium batteries don't off-gas, so no concerns there. The inverter does make a slight, very high-pitched wine that is a little annoying, but it was our decision to put it there. The standard lead acid batteries that Airstream includes go in an exterior box on the tongue of the trailer.

    Hey just found your vids. Getting into Airstreams. Been looking at what a good rig would be to go FT with and one I could work remote. From what I've seen I think for us that would be the Flying Cloud 30FB Office! I think this would be as good as it gets. I've always been a fan of Newmar Class A's. But I want to get out there and do this sooner than later (or if ever) given the prices of those rigs.

    Very nice review.
    Pls. Tell us about your towing experience and weight management.
    Also source energy details and consumption.

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've towed with a Chevy 2500 diesel. The diesel engine provides some extra power and engine braking over a gas engine, which is nice to have in the mountains. It's also a little more fuel efficient.
      More important than the engine is payload rating. With anything less than a 3/4 ton pickup, you will be pretty close to your payload limit just by hooking up a loaded 27FB trailer. Payload rating minus trailer tongue weight is how much capacity you have remaining for people, gear, pets, etc. (Tongue weight is the weight exerted by the trailer on the tow vehicle's hitch.)
      The 27FB has a tongue weight of about 1,100 lbs when loaded up for camping. Some 1/2 ton pickups, particularly ones with a heavy diesel engine and luxury features, can have a payload limit of only ~1,200 pounds 😬
      You can check out our truck tour to see how we haul all of our gear th-cam.com/video/SDrAfOmgm9Q/w-d-xo.html
      Not sure what you mean by "source energy." Could you clarify?

    Hi you all!! Great videos!! we have been camping in an 19' Sol Horizon and have just order a Globetrotter 27"!! Can't wait to get it!! We had a question on the we Boost mount. • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi, thanks for watching! Congratulations on the upgrade. The Globetrotter is a beautiful trim! The telescoping pole is actually part of the WeBoost RV65 package ( amzn.to/3gkpLIB ).
      The kit includes a 6" flat co-ax cable that we run through the front storage hatch. The booster is inside that storage locker.
      The kit also comes with two adhesive mounts that stick to the side of the trailer to anchor the pole in place. By design, we should be using both mounts, but because the entire trailer is curved we can only use one. Ever since the first mount came unstuck in a windstorm and our pole came crashing down, we have been talking about ordering a new solution. We've seen a lot of RVers use a flag pole base that is held down by the tongue jack ( amzn.to/3gakNzc ). We've never seen someone stick a WeBoost pole in there, but if the dimensions work we think it would be a good solution.
      Hope that helps! Let us know if you have any other questions.

      @@stevedeniseildefonso7983 the rooftop installations are also a good option and require little to no setup at each new campsite. Our pole isn't difficult to set up, but it does take a few minutes to pull it out of the truck, connect cables, and telescope the pole. It can grab a weaker signal though because it has a maximum extension of 25'. Either option will help you get service in more remote areas, which is a huge benefit!

    I still think Airstreams look the best from the exterior but for their price, they are just to behind on the times internally with tech. At this price I’d expect 400amp hour lithium battery’s, a 3000w inverter and a controller. I’m sure you could find a way, but I want that standard from the factory. For what it’s worth, Class-b campers since 2019 have been being made for us younger people and it shows. Watch this then watch a video on the Winnebago EKKO to see how much more you get in a smaller space.

    Thank you for giving us a tour of your Airstream! I just ordered a Pottery Barn Edition that is expected for delivery early next year. I just retired and decided to RV full-time. Trying to decide on a tow vehicle. I see you have a Chevy Silverado 2500. What is your towing capacity and can you make any recommendations with your experience thus far?

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not sure what the towing capacity is on the 2500, but it's more than adequate. What you want to focus on is payload capacity (the maximum additional weight the vehicle can be loaded with). The tongue weight of the trailer takes a significant chunk out of your available payload. The 27FB has a 1,100-1,200 pound tongue weight when loaded for camping. Most 1/2 ton trucks only have a payload capacity of about 1,500 pounds, so with just a couple of passengers you are already at your truck's limits.
      We bought our truck used, and choices were limited, but go for a 3500 if you can. The extra payload capacity is nice to have, and the ride isn't much worse than the already stiff 2500.
      The Chevy 2500 specifically is a fantastic truck. In our opinion, it has the best balance of ride, handling, refinement, and power out of the Ram/Ford/Chevy options. The Duramax combined with the 10 speed transmission is a fantastic, though expensive, powertrain.

      It just might be the perfect Airstream! We pull with a 2500. Airstreams have a pretty heavy tongue weight once they're loaded up. The 27FB will be about 1,100 pounds. For most 1500 trucks, that only leaves a few hundred pounds of payload for people, pets, and gear. Here's a tour of our truck: th-cam.com/video/SDrAfOmgm9Q/w-d-xo.html

    Do you do anything special when you cook? I hear cooking or baking in an airstream puts a lot of moisture in it. Is that true? My husband and I are looking into this model but we are also huge cooks and would hate to compromise on that

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You are correct, moisture is a big concern, but it's typically easy to mitigate!
      The key is to run the exhaust hood above the stove any time you are using the oven or stove. Aside from pulling out carbon monoxide and other harmful chemicals, the fan will also exhaust all of the steam from your food.
      We also run the hood if we have something like a pot of soup sitting on the stove, releasing a lot of steam as it cools.
      Same goes for showering... make sure to run the shower exhaust fan to pull out steam.
      When running any exhaust fan, it can be helpful to crack a window, or open another fan cover without running the second fan. This allows fresh air to more easily enter the camper.
      Have fun with your Airstream purchase decision!

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      We have a Chevy 2500. It’s important to look at trailer tongue weight and the effect it has on the truck’s payload capacity. Most 1/2 ton pickups don’t have the payload capacity to carry people, gear, and a tongue weight of 1,000+ pounds. Also, a weight distribution hitch does not decrease tongue weight. It only shifts some of that weight from the truck’s rear wheels to the front wheels, so available payload is unchanged.

    • @SignalCorps1
      @SignalCorps1 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@ThisWyldeLife I’m glad you spoke about pin weight rather than towing capacity as a 1/2 ton will almost always exceed the payload limit before the tow limit. With that said many 1/2 tons can tow this unit and stay within the payload limit as long as the truck isn’t packed with a bunch of additional weight. I’m a weekender and have an F250, but a 150 for my 27ft Flying Cloud would suffice, but you being full-timers I’m sure you have quite a bit of gear in the truck too. Best to go with a 3/4 ton if possible

    • @ThisWyldeLife
      @ThisWyldeLife  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@SignalCorps1 Agreed, tongue/pin weight is one of the most over-looked specifications when towing. We even see mid-sized SUVs pulling Airstreams as large as ours. Sure, the owners of an Audi Q7 might be coming in under their 7,700 towing capacity (by 100 pounds), but their payload capacity is exceeded the moment two adults sit in the front seat.

      I sleep better in our Airstream than anywhere else! My feet are at the end of the mattress when I stretch out, but it doesn't bother me. I usually sleep on my side with my knees bent, so I usually don't even notice the mattress length. The extra length of the twin mattress could be a plus for some people, and the space between the two beds makes the trailer feel bigger, which is neat.

      I prefer the Queen but the Twins have some advantages in addition to the extra 5”. First the twin has two great storage areas at the foot of each bed, Second, to me, having that walk way down the middle makes the unit look bigger inside as its a straight shot from the front of the trailer all the way back to the dinette.
