Born and raised West Virginian, have never left for more than a week and I'll be buried here. This is by far my favorite rendition of Country Roads. Living here, every version that comes out is usually played to death. This is the one that I won't mind hearing constantly. The true spirit of these country roads and the total freedom they entail, what it means to be truly home to stay, was finally fully captured.

John Denver is sitting there with a smile on his face with your dog by his side both entranced by that soul touching rendition. John at peace with a commending twinkle in his eye while gently giving your passed pup pets filled with the love and glory of God. Giving him comfort until he’s by your side again. Or at least that’s what I believe. Well Done OA, definitely a rendition of this song that will carry on through time with the original. Perfection of simplicity. One instrument, one voice, one timeless soul, nothing else needed other than an ear. It was a privilege to have lent said ear.

We have been praying for you. Your music has reached my 17 year old granddaughter. It's made a difference in her life. Thank you. Come to Kansas City. Please
Buried momma this past April. We were raised in W Va till the railroad closed, and we migrated south. I still go out at night, look up at the stars, and walk those country roads. Thank God
wow!!!! 19 mins old and I'm here great day to be alive!!!!!! peace on Earth!!!!!
I wish this was out a month ago, i would have played it at my brothers funeral. He would have loved it as much as i do. Amazing job brother
I used to sing this song from the top of my lungs while driving down country roads going fishing with my brother in the 70s and 80s. Great memories. Thank you for bringing back those memories.
You are the folk hero of the 21st century! God bless you and your down to earth attitude, and personality!
Bump
You make West Virginia Proud.
Thank you John.
The acoustics of a creek valley can not be replicated in a studio. My brothers and I coyote hunt a steep straihht creek valley. When we call the yotis down into the bottom it is a majestic sound they make.
❤ This is America at her best. Oliver Anthony ❤ love from Canada.
means the world to me, and I wouldn't be where I am today without each and every one of you. Your love, messages, and encouragement keep me going every day. I'm so grateful to have such an incredible community by my side. Here's to many more memories together! Love you all❤
You don't have to be from the mountains to be moved by this beautiful song about the most beautiful place and life. The mountain people that are never thought of or seen in regards to their poverty, struggles, and challenges. I know all are not these things but it the poorest part of our beautiful country. ❤❤❤❤❤❤
I think it is Pine Ridge Reservation. But that is just splitting hairs. The Sioux didn't want anything to do with the men north of Richmond, either.
Wow Mr Oliver Anthony. Your music is a gift from God. Keep preaching Jesus. Keep singing the Heavenly Band's song

AMEN.
Your voice makes this grown man cry! I can feel the pain in your voice and how you like myself miss the old days when life was simple!!!
This was my dads favorite song and he passed away at 93 yrs old, WW2 veteran.
Hooah!
Beautiful and haunting Christopher. Blessings ✝️🕊🙏🗽🇺🇸🦅✝️

Quickest notification tap ever. God Bless you sir! ❤️
This is Oliver at his best. Just the man, his voice, his guitar, and the trees surrounding him! The way it should be.
that's my country boy singin' like I remember when I was his age.....
Boomers from 1967....the energy and vitality of the early days before drugs...the young are back and raising us up.

Sang this with my sisters in the 70s. Just recently learned that my mom has an other blockage in her heart and fluid in her right lung. She's 89 yrs old. She came from deep swain county NC and my dad from Yancey NC. He's been gone since 1989 not sure if I'm ready for mom to go 😢but I know God has a plan for me and my 6 brothers and sisters. My grandma said we would be in his care year's ago but with what's going on these days it's hard to be positive till I hear old songs like this ❤❣️💜🕊️🙏
Omg! I’m 54 and this is my fave song and he covered it so great I love it!
I was born and raised in West Virginia. Living in TN now! I cried hearing you sing this song. My heart will always be in WV. You sang that so beautifully. You have an amazing voice. Please no matter how much of a super star you are, keep that Country Boy in your heart alive. Thank you for making my day with your beautiful voice!
Where did you grow up? I was born and raised in Tennessee, but my daddy grew up in Monongahela National Forest before it was a national forest, near Fenwick and Richwood, if you know where that is. I still have many cousins there. He often talked about the mountains when I was growing up and loved nothing better than taking me for a long drive, then a long walk among the hills along a creek banks.
@ I grew up in Fairmont WV… about 2 hours south of Pittsburgh PA. The mountains of WV are truly beautiful especially in the fall when the leaves change colors. I moved to Franklin TN in 1997 after meeting my now husband online. I still have family in WV so I try to make it back there a couple times a year.

Dear Oliver, please don't ever stop singing, the world needs your beautiful voice❤ In a world that is so crazy and so much darkness, you sir shine bright !! Thank you for sharing with all of us 🙏
Even over here in england you hit my heart everytime i hear you sing. Raw emotion you can tell your hearts in every word. All your songs you wrote yourself brings me to tears everytime. I cant wait to hear the next song..... never ever think you need to write songs for other people.... write from the heart like you do and your success will know no bounds.
Man, this song reminds how great West Virginia is, you just can’t appreciate till you live here, great people in a beautiful state, thanks Oliver!
Nothing is better than staying true to yourself, your identity, and style of music....
Deep in it ❤Braxton County love it bro
I spent almost the first half of my life in Boston where I was born. But I've lived in WV for 20 years now and it is without a doubt my home! I start to get homesick as soon as I cross that state line. I love WV more than anywhere else I've ever been in my life and I'll never leave this beautiful state!!
Roots in Roanoke, Va………
This brings a tear to the eyes.
Thank You Oliver.
I never thought anyone would touch Denver's song. This comes damn close... a version for our times. Rougher, tougher yet raw in its power and beauty.
I just can't get enough of your music, whether it's covers or your own beautiful, sad songs. Thank you for what you do, you are using the gift God gave you.
Thanks!
Simply lovely. Thank you Chris!
Grew up in CA but my mom, sis and I sang this song all the time growing up, especially on car trips. You did it far better justice than we ever did. Grew up poor in late 70s, 80s, no tape deck or other source of music, so we just sang things like Amazing Grace, Oh Beautiful, Silent Night, etc. John Denver, Kate Wolf, and Willie Nelson still my all time childhood favorites ❤
Kenny Rogers?
@ with Dolly Parton, amazing!!
Please don’t ever stop reaching for that guitar, and reach always, the words to that song yet to be sung. Beautiful rendition of this classic! Thank you.
North Carolina needs your voice right now more then ever I hope this reaches you
Dear Oliver, thank you for your soul❤ God says you don't have to be in a hole. You remind me of what makes America great when you sing about the things that are most important 👼
Thank you for being you❤
Beautifully sung. Enjoyed this immensely. Thanks for sharing.

Beautiful state, beautiful song and I love it more than ever with Oliver Anthony’s beautiful singing. So raw and real, the best version of this I’ve ever heard.

As my country has no culture left, I can still listen to good North American country music! Thanks.
Which country are you speaking of?
Thanks for uploading great song!
My wife and I love you Oliver. Thank you for your beautiful music 🎶 🎵 ❤️
Had a tear slowly flowing down my face listening to this 😢 when this guy sings it hits different 😊
LOVE THIS!!! JD is a legend he never got credit for!!
I think he did. He is widely loved.
There’ll be another JD immortalized by history as soon as, oh, let’s say 2028 🇺🇸
John Denver co-wrote and recorded this song and had never been to the State of WVa. Powerful still leaves me speechless.I think God was sending him visions while he was writing this song.
makes one wonder if he had been to virginia, considering thats what the song seems to be about
OK okay.. let me tell you the story...John Denver had never been to WV, but (I think) he lived in VA but could pick up a radio station that he listened to religiously.. so back then it would have DEFINITELY been old country, folk, and preachers... but he loved the way the people in the radio stations broadcasted about their beautiful state and he always wanted to visit... but he had a picture in his mind.. that's what he's referring to. ❤
Reminds me of when I heard about John Denver's passing, and I played this song, if you have ever seen the movie based on his life,it sure is something to watch, thank you Oliver for sharing your beautiful voice with us
Mr Oliver Anthony as the kind of voice that anchors deep into the soul !!! 👏👍💚🤘🫶👌✌️🐸
