  • I've heard a lot of opinions, but haven't seen any conclusive data on the infamous fuel rail plug. So I decided to pull out the laptop and figure it out myself!
Using EFI Live software I was able to determine the fuel rail pressure actual vs desired before and after the aftermarket valve plug.
I didn't provide any detail in regards to installation because it is pretty self explanatory and there are a number of other videos on it. If you have any questions just comment below and I'll help out the best I can!
Let me know what else you'd like seen done with the Cummins!

THANK YOU. I love when a creator actually shows the data, good or bad. Keep up the good work!

You had a leaking stock valve. Do not plug your rail folks, when you let off the throttle on a heavy pull the pressure spikes over 30k, sometimes higher than that. When you plug the rail that pressure has nowhere to go! So you get blown injector bodies, injector tips, and even the solenoid can blow off. Just purchase and upgraded relief valve from Exergy, T&C or whoever else makes them. Then you can run higher pressure without destroying your $3,500 injectors.

Folks make sure you don’t look for leaks around that fuel system when it’s running with your bare hands, it’s over 4000 psi at idle.

Will the plug work on my 2018 Ram 2500?

This should tell us he needed to replace his pressure relief valve because it was opening too early. He effectively diagnosed his problem and should have bought a new relief valve instead of keeping the plug in.

Are you worried about cracking your injectors? That is why this is not recommended. Its recommended as a diagnostic tool but not a solution.

So do you recomend add a race fuel valve?

Yes sir! I’d still highly recommend a lift pump for a more sustainable solution to low fuel pressure though

What software are you using to monitor the parameters like that?

    • @danscountry

Hey Man! It’s EFI Live. You can download it.
To obtain the data, You plug the Auto Cal into the OBD2 port, and your computer to the Auto Cal.
      Hope that helps!

@@danscountryI have civic 2.2 i-cdti , hard start after driven 30 minutes ( when engine is hot ) been to 3 different mechanics no one has a clue what's happening , diagnostic tool showing everything is fine , no errors or codes . Even changed crankshaft position sensor just in case but still the same problem. Pressure relief valve may be the problem? Thanks.
