- Lieutenant Corey Aster and Ensign Andrew Barrett are temporarily reassigned to the USS Aldrin on a routine terraforming mission on the edges of the Briar Patch. But when they discover the mass graves of hundreds of Bajoran refugees, they must soon look for answers when the Cardassians are implicated in their deaths. Aster grows close to one of the Cardassian scientists, and comes into conflict with Ro Nevin, especially since his grandfather was one of the victims of the massacre.

I like this balanced perspective showing that history is not always clearly good versus evil, and that stereotypes/assumptions need to be dropped for true communication.

This is not a scientific vessel but an Olympic class hospital starship from Starfleet. An Oberth class starship would be a better fit since this is a pure science ship class.
Yes I know they were a proud people. but as Weyoun had said “what’s left of them”.
Since I found this, Helena and Odyssey I have binge watched them all. The green screen is a little difficult to deal with. Love the nods to TNG, TOS, Voyager and DS9 throughout the episodes. I could deal without the gay stuff, but I am enjoying this. I will re watch them all again.
These stories are very good and thought out except the fact that the Cardassian’s at this point were a decimated culture and no threat to anyone after the Dominion War
I have one problem with this episode. Nevin's great grandfather looks his age or even younger only thirty five years prior. From what I know of Bejorans, they live as long as and age similarly to humans. 35 years ago my dad was my age, not my great grandfather.
You say you have 1 problem about this episode, ........ then you dont care about children seeing gay men in bed together making chocolate donuts together, or atleast the implication of such.....
I gues you are gay yourself then, not caring what children see and learn when they come and see what they think is safe to watch and the name "Star Trek" and "Gene Roddenburry" being defiled in such a manner.....
I kenw that this kind of gay content would attract the dregs of society, but being as callous as this is beyond my understanding......

This is fantastic! Out of literally thousands of cannon and fan fiction episodes and books it's great there's finally a handful of episodes with gay characters.

Although, I'm a little confused by the betrayal of Ro Nevins deceased, great grandfather. What exactly did he do to warrant the label of "traitor"? It sounds like he simply took advantage of the temporary Cardassian apathy and then was murdered when the Cardassians tried to cover-up their research.
@@musicmanmatt87 I realize this answer comes four years after your question was posted -- and it's taken me a few re-watches to finally understand it myself -- but the answer is in Vedek Ro's message. He said that he "...faced a difficult choice, abandon so many of my people to despair and hunger or compromise those few who resisted the Cardassian occupation." This implies that he betrayed the Bajoran resistance by giving the Cardassians information regarding either their membership or plans, which led to the capture and deaths of same. Vedek Ro and the Bajoans who died on Radjik VI were killed simply because they'd stumbled onto the Cardassians' protomatter experiment and is not actually related to the betrayal he spoke of.
Ro Nevin later says that his great-grandfather (his death must have occurred not long after the Occupation began for Danar to be Nevin's great-grandfather) was not the man he thought he was. I argue that he was still the good man he had always believed him to be, just with a fault that no one knew about. His betrayal of the resistance, while regrettable, does not negate all the good that he did.

Every episode the number of these kinds of genetic mutants is increased where nearly the whole crew is gay, and under the guise of what one might consider to be a family safe program, the name "Star Trek" has now been defiled by the producers of this sick smut......
Yes.... you could say as an adult that i have the choice to watch or turn off....
But my point is......
What about a child who come and clicks on this to watch some star trek which is safe to watch and then is presented with 2 men in bed then kissing each other......
Is that appropriate for an 8 year old to have this shown to him, well your gay, so theres no point in asking you this question as obviously the gay community is quiet happy for children to see this as they have no understanding of childrens mental health otherwise they wouldnt have gone to such an extreme to show this kind of content and defiled the name of star trek which attracts children, but us non genetically mutated people care for our children and care for their mental wellbeing and this homo sexual content which abuses the name of star trek to promote other peoples agendas with no warning or adult rating is clearly available for children to see and experiance.....
Its abuse and disgusting of the makers to defile such a clean name to draw children in and expose them to this content......
We ALL NEED TO complain to utube and either have this taken down or have warnings put up and adult theme exclusions as one would do with porn or other adult content.......
If your happy with children seeing this and turning gay, then do nothing, if you love children and are concerned, have this pulled down, the whole series as its immoral and only draws in the genetically sickest people of our societies in the comments section......

Censorship of the opinions of other Trek fans who do not agree with the introduction of hyper-sexual and explicit sexual behavior will not help save the series.

if people want to be gay ( your term not mine ) that's fine. there are a lot of people out there, that think that there are to many useless eaters out there already, so, they should be in favour of gay people, after all, they don't breed. but, what a lot of people can't accept, is having gay's thrown at us at every opportunity, it's like, hollywood is telling us, that were the unacceptable for being anything other than gay. acceptance, has to work both ways, otherwise, there will, be, resentment. the commas are deliberate, to emphasise, speech patterns, i often get criticized for using them. see what i mean about acceptance ?

I don't care about the computerized sets , it is the modern equivalent of the wobbly sets we saw and enjoyed in the old DOCTOR WHO series . The flat acting give the whole thing it's charm . Last but not least I love the gay stuff , it enriched the storyline . Bigots watching star trek, you guys need to evolve . Star trek has a message infinite diversity in infinite combination
