Mr. Dial's acting has really improved since the first season - I said before that I buy him as a Starfleet Officer, not an actor pretending to be one, and he'd really grown into that by this point. Shame he's not the Captain any longer, I'd enjoy seeing more of him.
Ms. Denney's acting is as close to Shelby as a fan production can get, outside of getting Elizabeth Dennehy to do it herself. I'd not seen any episodes leading up to this one, so I didn't know the lore, and just seeing her on screen for the first time, I asked "Is that supposed to be Shelby? Sounds like her."
Mr. LaVerne is just a natural. Hands down. If you put him in a real Trek episode with the real cast, he'd probably steal the scene. He's that good.
"Captain Roberts" is another natural. His delivery was exemplary.
Overall, this is a great series. The acting is a bit rough, but then again, this is a fan production. You don't expect Shakespeare. These feel more like real people in Starfleet than actors doing every line perfectly. To be honest, acting in general could use more roughness, more natural line delivery like this, so the actors seem more like real people than perfect humans delivering perfect lines. About the closest we have to this is Deeks in NCIS: LA.

When the crew beamed down to the planet's surface with a large number of boulders, I recognized that the producers used a background image acquired by NASA's old Pathfinder Mars mission. Some of the rocks on the surface are recognized as those seen in the Mars Pathfinder rover mission.
This is a fun series, we may need to do a review on it some time ;)

Piracy of the Noble was voted as one of the Top 5 episodes of the 7 season run of Hiden Frontier. And my acting debuit. I was the person who portrayed Guk Malek in this episode. as well as 2 other episodes and in the audio series! Just because I could be very loud and brash! lol

Good story!
During Hidden Frontier's 7th Season a poll was sent out asking which episodes where the fan's favorie. "Piracy of the Noble" was listed as Season 4's best and top 5 overall. Dave Bundtzen was a pro, and the writer James DeRuvo actually pitched the original script to DS9 several years earlier. This was my first acting foray as Gul Malek. I appered 3 more times as the Gul, and voiced him twice more on Audio Episodes for Starfleet Renegades and Odyssey. Not too bad for an assistant Propmaster! ;-D
@@JohnNelson75025 best fan series ever. People may correctly point out that vic and James have better sets and effects and debatably better acting but this series deliveres where it counts, ❤️ and story. Thanks for helping to make this gem possible.

What I find amusing about this Episode and isn't mentioned all that often is that Nachayev is getting her commupence. She delivered the orders that left the colonies on the Cardassian side.
She was the one that ordered that they had to stop with no real sympathy for what they were going through.
As much as I like this Nachayev, I hate her Canon counterpart.

impressive. But a stolen tmp Miranda with a cloaking device? xD hahah Surely in tmp terms that would have also been in violation of the Treaty of Algeron but then again They are renegades and u suppose a algeron treaty violation would mean nothing to them.
Reminds me of the Icarus from Star Trek Renegades.

@@kakka9n the defiant? I don't recall that ship ever having a cloak being installed unless ur talking about the one from DS9 in essence the cloak i'm talkin about was another one that was taken from another romulan ship by these renegades and installed on this stolen tmp miranda.
Kirk and Spock stole a cloaking device in TOS , didn't they?
The pirate Roberts was a better actor than 9 out of 10 of the regulars. IMHO there is only one good actor left with the regulars: captain Shelby. And couple of decent. And you have lost couple of rather good ones. I know it's a fan series, but you fall far behind for example to New Voyages what comes to crew's acting abilities. Hidden Frontier has been running long time... As you are trying to improve, practising to be better actors would be a good idea. Don't get me wrong, I applaude to your achievements and enjoy the show.
Eeew, the counselor SHOULD NOT be wearing that counselor troi outfit.
I very much dislike her character, and this is one step too far with her. Blegh.
