    QOTD: ⚡ There's a lot to say about what "quality" means, but when you're trying to hit a lower price point, quality is possible. Do you believe wallets in this market segment demonstrate quality?

    Whenever a wallet has an ID slot, it reminds me when I was 6 and head my first "wallet" and I carried it on a string around my neck... it was for a lunch card. I hate them with passion.

    Thanks for the made in China rant. Never thought about it like that but makes total sense. I think the worst part about this wallet is the brand name is so visible lol. They should have a small logo instead

    Could one of the card slots here be used for small thin items like coins and sd/sim cards?

    Another thing I want to with my port wallet was I cut a half circle in the top wrap and it made it even better way easier to get center cards I recommend doing it it's so easy now just had to get that in lol

    We've talked about SB before, so can we talk about your watch instead?? I've never seen a quad subdial quite like that before! That power reserve indicator window at 9oclock is certainly legible. Curious how you find that to function when measuring the life of the battery? I'm curious how it works. My understanding of batteries is that they are pushing out the same power (amps) until it can't supply the watch with the necessary juice, and then it simply dies. Typically battery powered watches will indicate they are getting low, by slowing the seconds counter to move every 5 seconds. Digging the aviator style of that, as well as the strap. The alarm function would be great for traveling. If it only had a second time zone (GMT) complication added! Seems to be one of the better constructed straps I've seen on a citizen as well. Love it, more than the wallet...

      This one is a limited edition Citizen Promaster Tsuno Chrono Racer Leather. It's an homage to the original 1973 Citizen Bullhead watch. I really like how the dials/knobs are all tucked away at the top, so they don't dig into your skin. The Eco-Drive technology has an excellent charge hold capability. I've had some of my Citizen's in my dark closet for a couple months and I'll flip on the light and they're still going. The power reserve indicator on this watch is bigger than normal, most of them are small, but this one shows all the gradations until it dies, which Eco-Drive watches just die when they're out of power, they don't slow themselves down at all from what I've experienced. Unfortunately, the band on this one, while nice looking, digs into my wrist where it clasps. It's not tight, the clasp just isn't comfortable against the skin. My Blue Angels citizen and another couple do have a second time zone feature which is really nice. My Citizen Men's Eco-Drive Silvertone and Black World Time, once set, will auto adjust the timezones as you travel and for daylight savings. I have another one which does that based on satellite connection, fun tech.

    • @erikkalifornia5182
      @erikkalifornia5182 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@walletopia yeah, i've had little to no luck with the "satellite" functions in watches i used to wear. The power reserve feature should work well in their eco-drive watches, that's true. Yeah likely the clasp on that watch is cheap? A replacement clasp for a luxury watch would cost more retail than this entire watch, so it's not too surprising. You coudl easily swap it out for a basic tang clasp, which are reliably comfortable. I'm wearing my Breitling airborne 44 edition Especiale 30th anniversary edition today. It uses a similar clasp, though minderless, and very comfortable. Watch channel?? ;)

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, the clasp on this watch is a deployant clasp which I have in other watches and they work fine and are comfortable, but this one just has issues some reason. Watch channel? Honestly, watches are fascinating, but I'm up to my eyeballs just to stay on top of this channel. I'll be your first subscriber! :)

    Interesting comments section.. Why do you not want an ID window?
    I've had a Hilfiger wallet for the last 20 years that has one, and it's finally cracked and broken but the leather and style was excellent and held up perfectly. Do you not show your ID or go to bars?

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      The plastic will always fail before the leather and I can't remember the last time I was able to keep my ID in my wallet. I'm always asked to remove it, so why have a window? Back in my early days you could keep it in the wallet, but with so much fraud and with the barcodes on the back, the tide seems to have shifted.

    • @ScienceBitch123
      @ScienceBitch123 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@walletopia For an airport or concert or something, yes. But many bars or liquor stores just want to see one that doesnt have Under 21 in big red letters and printed vertically, simple. I agree the window will fail first, but on my current wallet that still took 10+ years, so for $30 who cares. Would still like to see a comparison between Serman brands and the other near identical wallets on the market, i.e. kings loot, haxford, andar, etc. that look to be the same chinese manufacturer, but possibly different leather/quality

    Hey mark I was wondering if you could check out and maybe review the Rareform Anderson wallet. I’ve been looking at it for a bit and wanted to see what you think since there’s no reviews of it anywhere on TH-cam.

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Agreed. Wallets that still have plastic ID windows show how inexpensive they are and that they're not serious about being a long-term carry wallet.

    Yuck, an ID window. 😂

    • @walletopia
      @walletopia  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Agreed, plastic ID windows makes wallets look cheap. And I can't remember the last time someone allowed me to keep my ID in my wallets, they all want me to take it out so the "window" seems to have lost its usefulness.
