@@REMIX-me7fg Cross model is, i think, if you want to use the same Free McBoot memory card in different models, such as an original PS2 and a PS2 Slim model. If you have a card for each one then 'Cross Model" support doesn't matter. Or also if you're only using one PS2 then it also doesn't matter. I'd just to the regular "Normal" install if you're not sure.

i updated from 1.93 to 1.953 now I too have missing menu items .. but for the hdd installation FBHD the folder structure is different .. where to paste the BOOT folder?
I have a problem with FMCB after installing it. Technically it works - it boots up to the FMCB menu, I see the list of all the apps from Noobie Package and so on. However whenever I try to launch any app - uLaunchElf, OPL, FMCB Configuration, anything - I see a black screen and nothing else. No loading, no anything. Just black screen. I tried installing it few times and it always ends up like that. I have some old installer on CD with FMCB 1.8 and that one works fine. What might be the problem?
SCPH-90004 and browser 1.40. The problem is that I did the game swap trick with Under Fire, and I installed FreeMcBoot multi/normal (tried 2 times) and when I click "launch FMCB" I have a "Please insert a PS2 disc" or when I restart it there's just the sony normal screen, nothing happens. I use Sony MagicGate 8MB memory card, but I didn't formatted it because if FMCB doesn't boot again, I don't want to do the first level of the game of Under Fire (for the swap) so...
Is there a disadvantage of installing cross-platform? I own a ps2 fat, but propably I will get a slim. For that reason I would like to insrall cross platform

Great tutorial, I had totally forgotten to upgrade my FMCB installation, and I always get this weird anxiety when updating, because I don't have any backup memory card ;) maybe I should fix one? But with your tutorials, the anxiety pretty much goes away, and that says something. Keep it up.

my ps2 doesn't read free mcboot from memory card, the files are on the memory card, but the ps2 just loads normaly, i installed fmcb using my fat ps2 so i can use it on my slim and after restarting the fat ps2 it doesn't load, the slim doesn't load it either, fat and slim are both chipped, but the slim has a broken drive so it doesn't read discs

How do you keep what's on one of your Memory cards as far as Emulator's or do you have to get everything all over again? I got a FBMC with several programs pre-installed i don't want to lose those.
There are websites dedicated to fmcb and what each option means in the installer. I suggest you do the normal install with multi console option selected. After that, use ulaunchelf to install opl to memory card and follow any opl guide to run games from usb, smb, or internal hdd for fat ps2
Ok correct me if i am wrong, but do this works like follow?: 1: get a usb stick unpack the freeboot on the root of the stick 2: insert a memory card (does it matter if its a ps2 of ps1 card, i have few of both original and clones) 3: boot the PS2 and follow the steps from the video on the installing to the memory card. 4: remove usb stick, boot PS2 that now runs through the memcard with the menu where i can choose internal HDD, USB or USB HDD and dump my iso's on it and play?? I am total new to this, i am from a modchip area and recently got a old PS2 fat for free and want to give it a second live :)

Hey I managed to get freemcboot up and running(1.93) from one of your vids and I wanted to update. I followed this video and used the link you provided with the 1.95 FMCB installer. I went in to install the elf file on my ps2 but it never works, just restarts the PS2 and my version remains at 1.93. Any tips?
I used the PS3 memory card adapter way. Installed the correct drivers on my PC to recognize an official PS2 8mb memory card and got the files on there. Everything worked and it was on version 1.93. I put the noobie package to install the 1.95 update just like how you did in your video but when I would launch the application it would just restart my PS2. Pretty weird honestly lol but I still haven't managed to update it but 1.93 has been working fine.
Just a few observation and thought here in that you are showing a FAT PS2 in the video as I don’t know where your normal PS3 slim has gone but it sure is confusing me slightly as you are only updating the PS2 Memory card of FMCB to 1.95 on a PS2 FAT So tell me then WHY is the Noobie Package not showing as FHDB 1.95 as I have been under the impression that the Noobie Package was only for the PS2 FAT Hard Drive and NOT for it Memory card?

Nice video but I had one question I am trying to play Test Drive Overdrive on my modded PS2. I've burn the game to a dvd and it booted up the cut scenes but then it freezes at the loading screen. I've tried using it through ETH games on OPL v0.9 patched and unpatched and it flashes a lot of colors but does not boot at all. I also tried 3 different version of the game and they all do not work. I tried to update 1.8 to 1.966 but after instaling the update I have only: Browser System Configuration LaunchElf Launch disc Free MMCBoot Configurator Restard System and Shutdown System Nothing else... And yes I copied BOOT folder to mc0 folder but still not working

Never had this before, is this a compatible ps2 with fmcb? If the latest gives you issue, then downgrade. Note: latest fmcb does not work with modchips, if that is what you got
SO I'm trying to prepare my ps2 with a HDD , trying to get Opl installed on my machine. I've had pretty hard time researching on internet for it because they say everywhere, to get OPL installed you need uLoader or FMCB and to get uLoader you need FMCB and to get FMCB you need uLoader. I'm tilting between this confusion backand forth and need a serious brief clearance about where to start. Everyone on TH-cam or other places act like one of these apps come factory default with ps2 and they only tutor how to install the other app using what they already have. I don't want to hardcopy preinstalled clusters because I'd like to install up to date versions of anything. Also I've tried that preinstalled image copying method and it worked only for couple of games like Tekken but other games freezed here and there which supposedly would work perfect on HDloader or Opl, but didn't for me. So now I want only Opl as to start and I have my fat chipped ps2, an ethernet adapter with hdd and pc with proper software. Please someone help me out before I lose my mind over this.
Alright I finally got my ps2 to launch FMCB from memcard, tried to format hdd from ulaunchelf WIP7(as the alternate safer way because winhiip didn't work before), by the way hdd was ripped from my old ps3. Anyways it formatted the hdd, the next restart it saw hdd as unformatted empty again as well as my PC. Deep sector checks and wipings only give clean results. I gave up for now, tired of being loopholed in same procedure. thanks for the comments guys. By the way this ps2 doesn't seem to read ps1 games at all. Original black surface and backups. Also doesn't read dvd's burned with 4x speed. Do they really need to be burned in 2x max? I'm using JVC pro ones

I've been trying to find the easiest way all night to get it on the memory card and it looks like it's by burning the ulaunch.elf onto a disk and doing it from there What if I were to download an .ISO of a game. I'm just speaking hypothetically. Could one burn the .ISO and open it with Free Mcboot or does it have to be on the thumb drive. I read running it from the thumb drive sucks.
I've been watching your tutorials for a while now and decided to subscribe to your channel not long ago. Thanks for making this video. After upgrading from 1.8 to 1.95, my ESR won't autoload. Instead my screen goes into dim mode while showing my memory cards and the DVD image and the screen says DVD player is not setup. Will you please show me how to get rid of this?

Nah i prefer the Modded chip one...all u have to do is have a mod chip which is on your ps2,a dvd,then the OPL Iso.Burn the iso to the dvd and run the dvd on your ps2...it will work. My Specs PS2 Slim SCPH-90004 Code:2B

If it has magic gate then yes. I've used Nyko memory cards, no issues. But a cheap Chinese card? It didn't work for me.

Nice video but I had one question I am trying to play Test Drive Overdrive on my modded PS2. I've burn the game to a dvd and it booted up the cut scenes but then it freezes at the loading screen. I've tried using it through ETH games on OPL v0.9 patched and unpatched and it flashes a lot of colors but does not boot at all. I also tried 3 different version of the game and they all do not work. Do you know how I could fix this because I really want to play this game again.
that's weird even it freezes on ethernet and you defrag too?
Versatile I fixed it by playing the game through opl loader v0.8. The game works perfect with v0.8 but not v0.9, that's weird.

I thought v0.9.0 was the latest but I don't need it now.

I purchased a ps2 slim with free mcboot 1.94 and thanks to you have been able to upgrade it but, I'm having a problem using my thumb drive. I have a 128gb Sandisk Ultra fit thumb drive that I cannot access on the ps2, is this thumb drive not supported by the ps2 if so, what are the best flash drives drives for the ps2 for iso use? Thanks

Hey everytime I try to update from 1.8 it tells me "out of memory" I tried it with 1.93, 94, 95 all wouldn't let me install the update.
the memory card was empty but no worries I figured it out. I had put my games into the "install" folder which made the installation memory sky rocket to 3gb lol. thanks for video! (:

the Hard drive version is called FreeHDBoot, i just set up my toshiba 80gb sata hdd for freehdboot
I tried to update 1.8 to 1.966 but after instaling the update I have only:
Browser
System Configuration
LaunchElf
Launch disc
Free MMCBoot Configurator
Restard System
and Shutdown System
Nothing else...
And yes I copied BOOT folder to mc0 folder but still not working
Depends on the package, or if your elf files are still there, time to remap using fmcb configurator
When I install 1.953 and go to the memory card it has a corrupted data 1 kb anyone now what it is? It is safe to delete the file?

Never had this before, is this a compatible ps2 with fmcb? If the latest gives you issue, then downgrade. Note: latest fmcb does not work with modchips, if that is what you got

SO I'm trying to prepare my ps2 with a HDD , trying to get Opl installed on my machine. I've had pretty hard time researching on internet for it because they say everywhere, to get OPL installed you need uLoader or FMCB and to get uLoader you need FMCB and to get FMCB you need uLoader. I'm tilting between this confusion backand forth and need a serious brief clearance about where to start. Everyone on TH-cam or other places act like one of these apps come factory default with ps2 and they only tutor how to install the other app using what they already have.
I don't want to hardcopy preinstalled clusters because I'd like to install up to date versions of anything. Also I've tried that preinstalled image copying method and it worked only for couple of games like Tekken but other games freezed here and there which supposedly would work perfect on HDloader or Opl, but didn't for me. So now I want only Opl as to start and I have my fat chipped ps2, an ethernet adapter with hdd and pc with proper software. Please someone help me out before I lose my mind over this.
Alright I finally got my ps2 to launch FMCB from memcard, tried to format hdd from ulaunchelf WIP7(as the alternate safer way because winhiip didn't work before), by the way hdd was ripped from my old ps3. Anyways it formatted the hdd, the next restart it saw hdd as unformatted empty again as well as my PC. Deep sector checks and wipings only give clean results. I gave up for now, tired of being loopholed in same procedure. thanks for the comments guys.
By the way this ps2 doesn't seem to read ps1 games at all. Original black surface and backups. Also doesn't read dvd's burned with 4x speed. Do they really need to be burned in 2x max? I'm using JVC pro ones

Thanks! I'll try this out later since I'm a bit exhausted from scouring the internet. It was great to actually get ahold of the Free Mcboot file. I've been trying to find the easiest way all night to get it on the memory card and it looks like it's by burning the ulaunch.elf onto a disk and doing it from there What if I were to download an .ISO of a game. I'm just speaking hypothetically. Could one burn the .ISO and open it with Free Mcboot or does it have to be on the thumb drive. I read running it from the thumb drive sucks.
I've been watching your tutorials for a while now and decided to subscribe to your channel not long ago. Thanks for making this video. After upgrading from 1.8 to 1.95, my ESR won't autoload. Instead my screen goes into dim mode while showing my memory cards and the DVD image and the screen says DVD player is not setup. Will you please show me how to get rid of this?

Sorry, not sure what you mean. 7zip can unzip any archive file, then you need a way for the ps2 to run the .elf file

Nah i prefer the Modded chip one...all u have to do is have a mod chip which is on your ps2,a dvd,then the OPL Iso.Burn the iso to the dvd and run the dvd on your ps2...it will work.
