@@LearnAboutFlow absolutely not, they assisted with production capacity with providing a separate assembly line to assemble them on. All components engine, trans, brakes, suspension etc. Are all 100% Mercedes. It was simply assembled by Porsche techs.
One just has to google something like 1986 Pontiac Grand Prix to see why jaws dropped when the modern progenitor of the E-class appeared on roads in the USA.
Surprised to see it 0-60 and 1/4 mile times are slower than the 4 spd auto, I wonder if its associated with other factors such as track conditions and weather, or if the auto has more favorable gearing.
i would honestly disagree that the w124 has better proportions then the 190. i think the 190 is possibly the best looking sedan merc has build in the 80s and 90s. also why does he say an inline six is archaic? its better in every way than a V6 and putting a V6 in a rear wheel drive car (like quite a few automakers did) is just a much worse idea.

This is the car that started it all for me and Mercedes-Benz.
An all-time benchmark, some say the best Benz ever 🥳😍
I have owned 3 124’s in my life, all excellent, especially 400 and 500E
Well, isn't the 500E considered a Porsche?

@@LearnAboutFlow No.
Lucky you.
@@tonychavez2083 I love this Mercedes 300 E 85-88, best classic
this car adjusted for 2022 inflation would cost $91,000. best car i’ve ever owned ! and they didn’t have rack and pinion steering ❌
They didn’t have an overdrive automatic either. There’s a few mistakes in here.
And no cupholder. How long was MB in the American market before they figured out Americans drink while driving?
It's amazing how much the price of a modern Mercedes has fallen over the past decades. A base model E-class today is just over $62k in 2024.
@@apl175 quality has fallen too. especially in the last 10 years or so
I own a 1992. I love this car. My blue is darker and more rich. I'm told its a rare color. Either way. I love it. Always wanted one.
This blue in the interior is just awsome!
MB-TEX... LOVE IT
A manual benz is a blessing. A vehicle that will never die.
Some believe this is the best sedan ever made. It is a good and definitely set the benchmark. I would also rate the Lexus LS430 at the top as well.
You can't ignore the CB7 Accord.
W124 night well be my fave Benz:) great in coupe and estate form too
telescoping wheel and powered headrest in 1986? may have been the first!
The 80's BMW e28 had powered headrests, not column though.

Je la trouve toujours aussi belle la w124❤
peak Benz. Well actually: peak sedan.
The Automatic 300E was Better Performance except Fuel Economy no Lockup OD
The W123 seemed like it was on sale since the Victorian age. That being said, I'd absolutely love a diesel one. A 300D.

I got one of these cars I love it but truly one repair after another I was sadly sold a lemon
uh did he say power rack and pinion?
He did... oops.
Manual Mercedes are like manual Volvo's: terrible, get the automatic!
In love
Beautifull this Mercedes 300E 1986. I love classic cars Mercedes
It will likely remain unrequited, they brought in 300 manuals in '86 and 300 in '88. That's it.

You can not test acc and braking in wet. It should be faster.
Antilock Bust
AND STILL NO MATCH FOR A LS400
That car wasn't around in 85.
NICE!
Got both on the farm,w 125 much better engineride, material, and style, and double resale!!
Apples to oranges.
And the LS400 wasnt a match for the w140.. which it was designed to compete with. Not the w124 which was a much smaller and earlier car.
