Just use a regular ⅜ wrench to get the bolts off instead of all the hokey sockets and extensions. May take longer but you don't risk rounding off any bolts

I'm brand new to outboards and trying to learn as I go to change my water pump on my '92 Evinrude 15 hp with the extension for 20" shaft. I didn't realize it could be turned upside down. I have been struggling to get the connecting rod back together I'll try flipping it over. Thanks!

Wow. That's why I can't find it. I converted this same engine to a long shaft 15 years ago and forgot where the linkage was. Instead of tearing everything apart, I stopped and checked youtube.

I need you explain thermostat. Port on starboard side of engine runs water at cold startup. After warmup, port quits and water comes out exhaust ports. Is that a thermostat to bypass water jacket until engine warms up?

Great timing on the vid. Just received a 1977 Johnson 9.9 short shaft that needs the impeller relaced. Never worked on a "modern" motor before so I appreciate the info.
