My own list is similar to yours, in order from weakest (none are worse) to strongest: 5, 1,3.4.2, and 6. I enjoyed 6 the best because of Shatner's Kirk, learning from his prejudices, humbling himself, and growing as a person.
I make it my point that when other people give their opinion, I am not ever going to be critical because in the end you’re just telling us how you feel! I think in general you nailed the order, especially six, five and four. 6:18 YES!! Totally agree. Shatner gets a lot of grief, sometimes deserved for his acting, but the way he played the death of Kirk’s son was so powerful. I love it! Anytime I’m watching this film of people are talking I immediately start yelling at them to SHUT UP! So I can catch this amazing performance. I feel every word of it. In regards to your ranking I was more surprised that the motion picture wasn’t your 6th place film. Beautiful effects, beautiful enterprise but you hit it on the nose with the lack of Chemistry, the missing fun banter between the core three, Spock’s performance, the 70’s-esque uniforms-remember when bearded McCoy was beamed onto the ship for the first time, oof that didn’t age well. I did like the Kirk and Spock’s uniforms it’s those tan ones that bothered me a bit. Also the film was so slow paced. Might have been good for a Tv show but I wanted some action in my movies lol. I would have ranked number 5 as 5 number 6 as four then 3 then 4 then 2 as number 1, though I agree the difficulty of 4 and 2. In the end I really enjoyed the action of Wrath of Kahn and come on-KHAN HIMSELF! Ricardo Montoban. And when Kirk brings down the reliants shields man love that film. Amazing film. Anyway fun video.
My number one Star Trek film is Khan, Bennett, and Meyer helped it back from Robert Wise' TMP. The torpedo bay was just redressed from the Klingon bridge, in TMP. One interesting thing about the film, is that Nimoy didn't like how his quarters was decorated, and in The Undiscovered Country, he made sure to correct that. Speaking of The Undiscovered Country, it is second, for myself, there was intrigue, and just another great dynamic with the cast. The Search For Spock, is third on my list, mainly because of the introduction of the Oberth class, and Excelsior class, which was modified for Generations, as Enterprise B, but a new studio model was built for the 'anniversary' episode of Voyager, since they didn't want to risk damiging the original model, by trying to remove the additions. The Voyage Home is fourth, it was a great film, and obviously, did the best in revenue, and if you look at the display table at Starfleet Headquarters, it becomes the engineering table in the Enterprise D. The Final Frontier would see the new bridge, mainly because the original got water damage, so Herman Zimmerman came up with the new configuration, and I think it looks better than the previous bridge. I also liked the new elements in this feature, the shuttlebay, the observation lounge, and the turbolift shaft, there is a funny clip where the crew had fun with it, where they had one of those carnival mallet, and ring games, and they hit the ring, and then showed the clip where they are flying up the shaft. They also re-used the shuttlecraft, in Generations' ending, and just added tinted windows at the front side. The Motion Picture, for myself, was the most boring out off the six, loved the new Enterprise, but not the uniforms, which reminds me of the uniforms in Space:1999, and the story. Now waiting for your next, and great video. Take care, and all the best.

Last week, I stumbled upon an episode of Space 1999 on Amazon Prime, and I remembered it from my childhood. I was also shocked how similar the uniforms were. Robert Wise and the design team must have been inspired by Space 1999.
I have them 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 6. With VI only being my favorite because it was the only one where I was old enough to see it when it came out. To me the top 3 can really be in any order.

I was a sheltered child. Back when I was 10 years old, seeing Kirk, with lapels open, bearing a t-shirt saying 'Go climb a rock!' was the most irreverent, anti-authority thing I'd ever seen. He might as well have been Johnny Rotten! I loved it and still do!
To me the best is "Search for Spock." Second would be "The Voyage Home." Third would be "The Motion Picture." Fourth is "The Final Frontier." Fifth is "The Wrath of Khan." Last is "The Undiscovered Country."
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast My brother and I were fans of the Original Series, we used to watch it in reruns all the time. We were so excited for The Motion Picture but to 11 & 8 year olds that movie was boring; especially 2 years after seeing Star Wars. The Wrath Of Khan reignited my love for the franchise even though I was crying by the end of it. To this day I can remember exactly how I felt after walking out of the theater; so upset in fact my Mom who picked us up after seeing it could tell I was distraught. I was 11 and that movie hit me like a ton of bricks. I have all 6 movies in 4K and watch them often. The Wrath Of Khan copy I have is the director's edition which is even better.
I agree with your assessment of ST3 completely. I don't think that film gets the praise it deserves. It's not perfect, but it's far from bad. I might be in the minority, but I think ST6 is my favorite movie, just barely eclipsing ST2 as my 2nd favorite of the original films. I preferred ST2 when I was younger, but as I age I have a growing appreciation for ST6.
I agree! It is such a fabtastic movie but somehow unfairly got associated with the "even numbered are good and odd numbered are bad" rule. I absolutely love Star Trek 3.
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast i think the reason i put 6 higher is exactly what you stated; this subject matter is what TOS was all about. And this is why i placed it above 4. Wrath of Kahn gets the top spot because, though its a simple plot, and doesn’t have much in the way of surprises, the fact it takes an original series story, and makes it both new as well as nostalgic- well, that does it for me, as a Trekkie since i was a little kid in the 70’s, watching on my tiny black and white tv in my bedroom….
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast When i saw number 4 as a kid, the idea of the villain being the stupidity of humanity itself, made me love it, because that was the essence of Star trek!
My only criticism of Star Trek 4 being first. Is that the Enterprise is as much of a character as the rest of the crew. She was pretty absent for most of the film.
You have a good point. But that's what I live about ST4 is the payoff at the end when we get the Enterprise back. That moment gave me chills when I saw it the theater in 1986. 😀 Thank you for your comment!
While I was watching the ranking, I thought it was Star Trek 4 and 6 going head to head for 2nd place. Not Star Trek 2 and 6 going head to head. I would have started with 5, 1, and 3 also.
More or less in agreement with you. 5 sucks donkey balls and is last, obviously. 1 was worthy but tedious, so 5th. I'd put 6 behind 3, as 3 broke a lot of taboos - stealing and totalling the Enterprise, swearing? Hallo? As for 4 and 2, it's pretty much a toss-up. 4 is a feel-good flick with a moral message, 2 is a Greek tragedy in classic Star Trek style. I'd go for 2 at the moment, not least for the music, but it depends on my mood.
The Motion Picture should actually be ranked at least Number 2; it’s a masterpiece. Remove the sentimentality of Trek VI being the last Classic Trek film and it comes off as a rushed, cheap, and very simple story.
I like this controversy. But yeah… no.😂. Best: 2, then 6, 3, 4, 5, 1. All good. I was never a fan of 4, but it’s grown on me (at the time I thought a little preachy; by today’s standards not at all). I enjoy it now. But to each their own. Glad you enjoy the films.
How anybody could take STV as anything, but Shatner saying "F-U" to the fans, I don't know. It was as much a farce as anything Jar Jar Abrams made. When reminded of this film, I remember why I didn't like to see Captain Kirk for a long time.
Voyage Home was entertaining...I just dont think it aged as well as 6 and especially 2. But all of them were great. 3 belongs in the middle, Motion Picture dragged far too much, and everyone hated 5!
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast I intend to! I did a "Star Trek" themed episode when I did those GM Dustbuster minivans. All I thought about when they were new, was how much they reminded me of a shuttle craft LOL. th-cam.com/video/qp8cjJ75gMI/w-d-xo.htmlsi=3O_AbJ8KjhThVI2M
Any list that says TMP is second worst of the franchise is not a list worth finishing. "None of the banter between Spock and McCoy..." just as you show a clip of banter between Spock and McCoy. Right.
Good list .. but my list is 2,3 (it introduced new ship designs that was used throughout the rest of the series) ,1 (at least until they reach the cloud but it has the best special effects) 6, 4 (I wanted to see starships not whales) & lastly 5 it made the crew seem old and senile + the god awful special effects 👎🏾
Yeah I to put 5 and 1 at the bottom, in 1 the uniforms sucked but the rebuilt ship design was great, but I still cant choose between the TOS ship and the movie Enterprise. ST 5 would've been better if not searching after God with spaceship, it was to far anti bible for me, but that movie did have some good lines in, like what Kirk said about Spock not having a brother and Scotty know the ship like the back of his hand. The movie just need a better story line...... I still give ST-II and ST-VI on same score, I still cant make up my mind which one I like better, they both have excellent story lines. I really like Christopher Plumer in VI... I had no interests in NG ST mostly because of terrible ship design. I now have no interest in any ST after the first ST movie series, JJ Abrams has turned me off from all new ST movies.....
Pretty predictable rankings. For me 2 4 and 6 are interchangeably excellent but wrath of khan gets the edge as the objectively best film. Then i might put tmp directors cut at 4th, or search for spock, they are close together, and 5 is just unwatchable. Cant agree that its in the "good" tier
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast I'm torn... Kahn is the best but I do like the VEGR story and Spock's discovery that cold logic is not enough (for him either). It's a tie for me.
Agreed. TMP is neck and neck with Wrath of Kahn for top spot for me, but the first ages out the second because it has the best visual, biggest concept, most mature character arcs, and gets at the true core of what Trek is.
Voyage Home is the worst of the TOS movies. Silly concept. First, do they have money or not in Kirk's time? Hello, canon anyone? Also, they can use physics to travel back in time, but can't use a computer to simulate a whale call?? A FVCKING whale call??? That is what this movie is about? A whale call???? Obviously, if the invader was coming to Earth to find a dang whale, they for sure did not originate from Earth. Get it together. And it is such an infinitesimal subject. It's pretty much a fake catastrophe like what Lefties have been trying to stir up now. What's next...Star Trek The Mission to end Global Warming?????? Get your heads out of your asses. That ain't real either.

Did you check out my video on Star Trek 3 where I explained the whole change?
While I was watching the ranking, I thought it was Star Trek 4 and 6 going head to head for 2nd place. Not Star Trek 2 and 6 going head to head. I would have started with 5, 1, and 3 also.
Interesting! 🙂 What is your ranking?
@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast Almost like yours. 5, 1, 3, 6, 4, and finally 2.
That's a very solid ranking, very close to mine.😃
All good here, it’s hard to split the top two so tilting one way or the other is fine… actually it’s not- a double dumb-ass on you 😂😂
🤣🤣🤣 I love it! Haha.
The Undiscovered Country for me. Then Wrath of Khan. The Final Frontier is last. The rest in any order you want 😊
That's an interesting ranking. 🤣 That's what I love about these rankings. You get so much variation! Thank you for your comment!
You can't beat practice effects
Yup!
The Motion Picture should actually be ranked at least Number 2; it’s a masterpiece.
Remove the sentimentality of Trek VI being the last Classic Trek film and it comes off as a rushed, cheap, and very simple story.
Certainly a controversial opinion, but I can respect it. Thank you for your rankings!
Thank you! I like your rankings. 😃 Thank you for your comment!
Star Trek 2 has no rival, and revived Star Trek.
It certainly did!
Enterprise refit will always favorite ship and enterprise A is a close 2nd.
Me too! So sleek and awesome!
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast something about the the 1960's fins on the nacelles. Much improved over the orbs
How anybody could take STV as anything, but Shatner saying "F-U" to the fans, I don't know. It was as much a farce as anything Jar Jar Abrams made. When reminded of this film, I remember why I didn't like to see Captain Kirk for a long time.
🤣🤣🤣
Voyage Home was entertaining...I just dont think it aged as well as 6 and especially 2. But all of them were great. 3 belongs in the middle, Motion Picture dragged far too much, and everyone hated 5!
Great recap. 🙂 Thank you for your comment!
@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast Great channel and Subscribed..Im a You Tuber too, that is just my personal account LOL.
Thank you so much! I'm working on Star Trek TOS at the moment. I hope you enjoy it when I release the video!
1-IV
2-VI
3-II
4-I
5-III
6-V
Yes! Another person who thinks Star Trek 4 is the best! 😀 Thank you for your ranking!
2,4,3,6,1,5
I like your ranking! 🙂 thank you for your comment.
Star trek 4 is a better movie, than wrath of Khan.
Thank you!
Any list that says TMP is second worst of the franchise is not a list worth finishing. "None of the banter between Spock and McCoy..." just as you show a clip of banter between Spock and McCoy. Right.
Oh. Sorry you feel that way. But I respect your opinion. Thank you for your comment.
Interesting! 🙂 I love your list! It is certainly different. Thank you for your ranking! 😀
2 is #1 4 is #2
I cant argue with that! 😀
TWOK has to be #1. I can understand your reasoning but without TWOK there is no TVH.
Great point! I cant argue with that. 😀
I like your list. 👍 Thank you for your comment.
My ranking would be 264351 best to worst.
That's a great ranking! 🙂
2, 6, 4, 3, 1, 5 is THE definitive ranking.
I cant argue with that! 😀
To me 5 beats 1. Row, row, row your boat. The most TOS-ish movie.
Wrath of Khan>the voyage home
Who am I to argue with that? 😀
I like your rankings! Thank you for your comment. 🙂
Any ranking of these movies that doesn’t put 5 last and 2 first is trash.
😔
Yep, I stopped at your choice of second place
😒
As soon as you put the first one number 5, I checked out👎🏽
Really, what would be your ranking?
@@TotallyAwesomeFilmsPodcast
I'm torn... Kahn is the best but I do like the VEGR story and Spock's discovery that cold logic is not enough (for him either). It's a tie for me.
Wow! That's certainly a controversial opinion but I can respect it! Thank you for your opinion.
Agreed. TMP is neck and neck with Wrath of Kahn for top spot for me, but the first ages out the second because it has the best visual, biggest concept, most mature character arcs, and gets at the true core of what Trek is.
@@lestatdelc 'Can't argue with that.🖖🏽
2,1 or 1,2; then who cares.
You said it! 😀
Star Trek 1 is such a booooring mess, watching it felt like being force fed in an all you can eat restaurant.
The Slow Motion Picture or the Motionless Picture. 😄
🤣
