I wish I had known about this before my pregnancy. I just lost my son at 37weeks on 11/27/2024 due to IUGR, there was no indication that anything was wrong, no genetic issues, and was related to placenta insufficiency. My life has been turned completely upside down, and I have so much grief and regret that this wasn’t caught earlier and received earlier intervention to save him. Now I’m without my son, and having an answer as to what happened leaves me no peace. All I can say is that I wish it was routine to offer an ultrasound scan at 28-30 weeks because my fundal measurements were all on track so I wasn’t able to receive another scan. Thank you for an in depth explanation, I pray no other mother experiences the pain I’m in from this condition
I am so sorry for your loss. This is such a devastating news. I pray you are able t find the comfort that you need during this trying and challenging time❤
This is cool because there are a few weird things in my family. My dad was born small (most likely IUGR but he was born at home during the war) he had to be kept in the oven and was under 6lb. My mother was born small as well. Unknown if IGRT or SGA My mother had 3 pregnancies, two had placenta artery problems (two vessel cord that lead to fetal death) and I was born IUGR, under 5 lb, with no amniotic fluid (she had low amniotic fluid and then started leaking and missed it for weeks). I was in for 2 weeks because of issues. My husband was born SGA BUT is now a tall wide guy. When I got pregnant I told my dr about my family history. I said I was certain I’d have a small baby. I developed gestational diabetes (well managed with diet) they estimated her size at “40-50%” and normal. My last ultrasound she was estimated at 6lb 5oz ish. We’ll I suddenly developed gestational hypertension that was borderlining pre-eclampsia (I was already having weekly checks due to GD) and they were prepping me that their estimations were off. She was probably bigger, because of the GD and to prepare for a 8-9lb baby. We’ll when my BP wouldn’t go down they induced me at term, and I gave birth to a barely 5lb kid. She was later diagnosed with missed IUGR and developed scary low hypoglycaemia and was in monitors for days. All of my family is neurodivergent with anxiety and OCD or ASD/ADHD. NONE of us drank, smoked, used meds not cleared by doctors (inhalers, Tylenol, antidepressants) and all cases can’t be figured out. But I’m starting to wonder if as you said there is a higher correlation of mental health issues if it isnt linked to the mental health issues as that the first marker that a person may be neurodivergent is a small weight/size at birth. We are all either super skinny, overweight, or have thyroid problems but it’s unknown if this is due to the antidepressants or genetics Just the correlations with what you said are very apparent and curiosity sparking.
@ all thank to god everything turned fine my doctor send me to fetal medicine appointment high risk to make sure everything is ok because the previous ultrasounds were all not accurate sometimes the legs and arms will look smaller than the rest of her body and sometimes the stomach or the abdomen is smaller than average turned out that she’s just a small baby, but everything was functioning right inside since I’m short and tinny too they said don’t worry she’s normal and my surgery is in 5 days so excited and nervous a bit
Thanks for sharing, I have lost three babies due to IUGR and the cause is severe oligohydramnios, no chronic diseases, no infections and no such history from my family. The doctors say they can't tell the cause of the oligohydramnios. Please advice me on what to do
This is very informative thank you. At age 31 I have just found out I was born IUGR(FGR). My mum has never told me.. I had to see it on my medical notes 😢
Do yoga thier is one channel specially for this and from 3rd trimester ecosprin than what doctor suggests you. It can come again you will have to keep eye on that. Eat healthy. Going through same.
Diabetes as a cause of FGR? Maybe you meant hypoglycemia caused by wrong treatment of this disease (would match DM1 where the glucose levels are less stable)
Ok. This one I know! There are hormones in the placenta that kinda act like a pancreas so to speak to filter the BGL for the baby. And this is what can trigger gestational diabetes. With that being said if someone is T1D taking insulin can compete with the placenta and trigger it even if the mother never went low. I developed GD and never had a low or really any bad highs and still had a kiddo with IUGR.
These are what those women believe they have they say it's the reason as to why they are pregnant for years up to 14 years! Crazy things on the internet

May ALLAH ease the suffering.
Switched from emergency med to primary care, your videos have been very helpful in filling knowledge gaps for me. Thank you!
Seriously, Thank you for the explanations . I was a child born in 1975 premature baby. Gained knowledge. Great job 💪
Just for information, Were you born premature? I had a baby with IUGR and i'm kinda scared.
Here I am, a grown ass man with no prospects, watching a video on Fetal Growth Restriction.

I’m 25 weeks pregnant trying to educate myself after an ultrasound appointment saying the infant stomach is smaller then usual I’m scared 😢
Hi, I'm just curious to know you did anything to tackle this? We found that the babies abdomen growth is on border line yesterday.
Hi, I was wondering how everything turned out as my girlfriend is in the same situation. I hope all is well

@@Jhalakrutvi9 aspirine only actually works if you start it before 16 weeks, when it can still affect placentation...
It may not happen the next time round.
