  • This video applies to any 4wd F150 made from 2005 to 2008 and 2003 - 2006 Expedition 4wd. The front wheel bearing was loose and needed to be replaced.
    Took about 20 minutes. You will need a 21mm to remove the lug nuts, 18mm to remove the caliper bracket bolts and wheel bearing bolts and 13mm to remove the axle nut.

    Not agreeing on letting the caliper hang from the brake lines. Also, invest in a torque wrench and install the bolts according to mfg.'s specs.

      I was going to say, "along with tying up the caliper... torquing axles, wheel bearings, and brake calipers must be a conspiracy too." 🤣

      Didn't clean it before installing the new unit. I would have put a little ant-sieze on the splines and at least blue loctie and put my 45 yr old Snap-On click torque wrench on it.

    • @richardmccann4815
      @richardmccann4815 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Heck, I got mine apart and the spline connector was very loose, the grease smelled like burned grey alien poop! So I'm going to have to scoop out some of the old grease and add some fresh, it will never be perfect, and I don't use the 4 wheel drive except in emergencies. It's a Ford, and it will survive! It's not a racing truck, and I'm not rich. I'm still learning at 70 years old. I hate bending wrenches, and have a lot to learn. But this video helped me a lot on my $3800 truck! So whine all you can, and make a video of what to do with bolts that the heads are rusted away on! That would be so much better than complaining, wouldn't it? !!

    Good video. Straight forward as to what to do. Only thing I'll do differently when I do mine is torque it down according to torque specs, make sure the hub is greased on the inside (will last longer), and use blue lock tight on the hub assembly bolts. Thanks for the video.

    What about specific torque specs... U just cranked it on (hub nut)

  • @joshgranzow
    @joshgranzow 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't that axle nut be torqued to spec? I believe you are only supposed to put 20 ft-lbs of torque on it.

    • @joshgranzow
      @joshgranzow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      I only ask because I was told that it was very important for the life of the new bearings and I want to make sure I do it correctly when I replace mine.

    • @LehewTech
      @LehewTech  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes in general its always best to torque to spec. On this particular application I think it is not so important because the 2wd setup uses the same bearing with no axle installed at all, so obviously the hub assembly doesn't need torque from an installed axle to hold together.

    • @joshgranzow
      @joshgranzow 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the clarification. Mines 4wd so it's more important to torque to 20 ft lbs?
