Cher was very brave to sing this song. And she produced a great version. Not to many can pull this off.
Not trying to discredit Cher, she is great, but this will always be Scott Walkers song.

Cher is a great all round performer, but it was a smart technician who created that special for Cher's voice. Behind every great singer there are great musicians and amazing technicians. You didn't hear that "breaking" affect in Scott Walker's voice.

Without a doubt, the best cover of this Walker Brothers hit ever.....I actually think she does a better job on the bridge than the Brothers did originally!!!! What a shame she isn't in the R-n-R Hall of Fame TWICE.......

Wow. This is really good. I'm a big Scott Walker fan and this is pretty true to the original, production wise. Good stuff.
Scott sang this song the best, however in my opinion the arrangement could've been more bold, the original 4 seasons version was weak with a somber tempo back in the 60s there wasn't exactly prolific songwriting yet there was vocal harmonies that elevated mediocre songs even though the standard was 3 minutes

@@SandorVitez Yeah I definitely like the Walker Brothers version the best too. I think Scott's vocal tone is just perfect for the song. The original is pretty good. catchy song and whatnot, but Scott Walker makes the song great.

Right up there with The Walker Brothers. I think it’s because the song requires a deep voice. Listened to Valli’s version and though I Love Him, his voice is too high for this song. The emotion seems to only come through with vocal depth. Love, love, love this tune! 💗
I think Frankie Valli's "natural" voice is great for ballads---it is very expressive and conveys heartfelt emotion----you may have a point about a deeper voice for this particular song---but I think it ironic that the deeper voice is Cher's!!

Just saw that Facebook Obituary of the passing today of Scott Walker of The Walker Brothers who sang THE SUN AIN'T GONNA SHINE ANYMORE and I learned of this song from singer Jules Shear and various other artists who sang it. I still love Cher's cover of this song because she has a very strong female voice range to make this song memorable.
