@@karensylvia9423 No. I don't know where they came up with the name Walker. And they aren't British. Scott Engel was born in Southern California. I think they were having trouble getting a recording contract here, and so some producer took them over to the UK where they became huge!
When I'd hear this song on the radio in the 60's I'd think everything was right with the world, that there was hope, vision, and a better future. As a nation we struggled for rightness and justice, and we were doing the right thing. There will never be another time like that.
I heard this song being played on National Public Radio as they went to a commercial break, and it was being played in remembrance of Scott Walker, because he'd just died. I hadn't heard the song since the 1960's when I was a kid, but I recognized it immediately as one of the melodies that was truly great and which I loved. After rediscovering this hit upon his death, I've been playing it many times and watching this and one other video the most often. I love this song.
Timeless song, people get old and die. Memories live forever. I recall hearing this song, when I found out tv actress Rebecca Schaeffer from My Sister Sam was killed by that psycho fan in 1990. So sad. . the group was before my time, what talent.
