Good Video! I am about to do mine also... Z4 E85 M54 Engine... This summer I started with the Overflow Tank then I did my Valve Cover Gasket but the engine was still leaking... let's face it, my Girl is turning 18 years old so why not take care of her... I will replace also the Tensioner and the Pulley at the same time... I am even thinking of installing a new alternator... since I have it off anyways... an 18-year-old alternator must be on its last leg... what do you think?🏎
Yeah I agree might as well change it but there is no guarantee the new one will last longer. Alternators fail without warnings but hopefully new one will last. Get a good quality one.
not at all....disconnecting batteries dont cause harm....the only trick is once you connect the batter back in, leave the car alone for 5-15 mins...there are computer systems that reboots and needs time to settle in.
Thank you for the video, very helpful and good info before I tackle this myself. 2008 Z4 3.0si
¡Muchas gracias por tu video 👌 muchos éxitos amigo!

Very helpful. Thanks.
Glad it helped. I miss this Z4. Got totaled but glad the video is still helping peeps

Do you have to take the alternator off for this? Or can you reach the housing screws without doing so?
Ben Lee yes you have to take the alternator out. There is no other way around it.
If the oil filter housing gasket is leaking, will this cause problems with the eccentric valve censor?
Not sure. I doubt it
Did disconnecting the positive mess with you z4 after you connect back

Did you need to drain the oil before removing the oil filter housing?
No need to remove engine oil
YES since you are going to contaminate the oil by cleaning the inside of the housing... you should do it...
Can you please tell me why I have to remove the alternator. If the oil cooler is on its own housing separate from the alternator?
I had to because there was no other way to get to the gasket. Atleast on my Z4
If I'm getting water into the oil motor what it can be?
Oil filter housing is leaking. It’s your coolant mixing with oil
