Merlin, who is killed in a mine explosion. This scene is a shocking and heartbreaking moment for the but the original cut revealed Merlin actually survived this scene.

I must admit I cried at this scene. He gave his life willingly for his friends without hesitation or pause. He deserves a monument of respect for being a total boss while singing country roads
This is the most manly death ever. Being honored by your friends while standing on a landmine in a nice suit, weilding a machete, singing like a legend and taking four enemies with you.

I love how he knows what he's doing and doesn't care. he sees it as saving his friend's lives not ending his own. which just goes to the how much willpower he has and how determined he is to do the right thing no matter the cost.
i mean it was made pretty clear in part one how extreme the training is and how much it makes u disregard ur life things and all

No it does not care, he just know that sometimes your own life does not count against the goal that must be achieved. A lot of people know that : soldiers, firemen, EMT and so many others.

This sequel might have a terrible script but, this scene makes the movie worth watching. What an amazing and heartbreaking moment! He didn't die only like a hero, but a true Kingsman!
Script was fine but I think the action is what elevates it, much like the previous Kingsman.
To address the “Unnecessary death” and “Why didn’t they just shoot him”. The probabilities are:
His death;
1. Simply to add leverage, it made things “personal” for the rest of the team.
2. To show that these secret service, special operations, special agents, are still, ultimately, human.
3. To show that these people would risk their lives, to protect the entire world.
Why wasn’t he shot;
1. Soldiers were under orders to bring him back.
2. They already had loony people around, they weren’t sure what to do.
3. (Speculation) Not meant to kill unless ordered to, through ROE.
also when you see a guy singing in the middle of a protected area I don't think your first instinct would be to straight up kill him. It was a distraction that could work in real life as well
Those stupid soldiers are obviously NPC. They probably dropped their basic training class XD. Comparing to part 1, I still prefer part 1 than the 2, is that same man who directed part 1? It's like I'm watching the movie from a guy who suffers from delusion.

He passed away with the honor of a great kingsman tittle, he died as a gentlemen. On my own judge, Merlin's death is one of the most heartbreaking scenes in the whole industry

Man, what a send off for Merlin. No matter how many times I watch this, shit always gets me. Same when Eggsy is killing Charlie, and he says “And for Merlin”. Such awesome movies. I enjoyed The Kings Man, but I would have liked it more if they made another sequel where Kingsman and Statesman are one in the same. That's the movie I want lol.

This is the first scene in a movie that made me cry in 3 years.
As the others walk away, you can see his eyes darting back and forth as he considers exactly what is about to happen. Exactly what he is about to do.

This part of the movie allowed me to greater understand how death can be used as a plot device. Like those are the last 3 Kingsman left and one of them makes the greatest sacrifice. Not only that but the movie LITERALLY GIVES HIM A SOLO MUSICAL MOMENT which literally is only used FOR VERY SIGNIFICANT PLOT MOMENTS in music driven storytellings. Personally this is one of the best moments in cinema history and something I will make my young children watch even though they're very Gorey movies.

@@faizangul836 have you watched the movie? Etzi stepped on a mine, and they had freezr spray, so they froze it for a few seconds and merlin made a sacrifice by throwing himself instead of etzi. They didn't need to blow them up in the first place but hey, since they are gonna activate it, its better to at least kill some guards with it. In the movie, that scene is very well explained.

Merlin was badass. He went out badass too. He sacrificed himself for Eggsy and Harry. The thing is that he did it his own way, belting out Country Roads by John Denver. He was determined to go out singing that damn song. That is the best thing about Merlin.
