- The Tofu, the mechanical keyboard that everyone has heard of. Love it or hate it, the tofu has cemented itself as one of THE beginner boards within the hobby. With more and more options for beginners popping up, can it still be relevant? With this mod utilizing a Gummy O Ring and a special PCB, I genuinely think it still holds its place as a great option, and a good keyboard overall.

You should do a budget build video with o rings, gummy worm, tape mod, pe foam, that would be dope to show to some newbies. Great video, I’ve done similar things to my tofu. Need to pick up some crp 😔.

It's actually surprising to me that a pcb like this isn't in stock on kbdfans. It would genuinely make the Tofu a top budget board again. Also, no modifications on the board itself for this mod already makes it one of the greatest for the tofu.

YES finally, I'm running a gummymount tofu with pe foam (lol) and cream stem cherry switches rn and it's absolutely bonkers with the alu plate.
anyway, I'm glad to see this pcb exist, this is an awesome project and I'm grateful more people are able to try this mod out, as I know many are reluctant to remove the standoffs. I cannot express how much I love this mod on the tofu, I could never go back. Great video again Shoobs!

So I’m commenting here because I wanted to thank you for this build guide. I built this same keyboard but with silent switches. About 2 years ago.
Also I know it’s a few years late but I watched OddTaxi. I remembered this video and how you recommended it but never really got around to watching it until this last week. Needless to say, the anime was amazing. So I came back to this video to hear your thoughts on it and I agree with what you said.

@@ShoobsTube yeah, now I am definitely looking into getting a tofu case for my BM60 ISO alongside a PC material plate. My only concern is that my pcb only allows for friction mounted plates, so it might be an issue for gummy o-ring mounting it. I will see though lol.
Hey shoobs and chat I'm rocking a tofu65 with the o ring mod and I can attest to the absolutely ridiculous gains that this mod has. So much better if a sound just buy installing some donuts

The Tofu is great, I just wish the hotswap version was more readily available as compared to the soldered version. Your o-ring mount sounds dope though, very clean sound

hi, you buy the tofu as a case and you can buy a universal 60 percent hotswap PCB to go inside of it :D
The Tofu65 e-white and the DZ65 just got restocked a few weeks ago, I can't skip on that opportunity, god knows how long the next batch will arrive, especially with the shortage of electronic components that could potentially affect the DZ65s production

I did a similar thing to my gk68xs, but because the standoffs go through the pcb and plate, and you just screw straight in to them, it doesn't need dremelling. You can just put o-rings around the standoffs at the bottom of the case and you essentially have an o-ring mount without dremelling or cutting your pcb.

Ok. Just thought of something I’ve done research on, others have already thought of this, but I hope to be the first to actually go through with it, so magnet mount. Theoretically, weaker grade 5 magnets may work, and should not interfere with an anodized aluminum case. That’s what I’m thinking, it may just be a crazy theory tho.

High density Foam cutted to a circle shape is way better than o-rings. With O-Rings it feels like you´re typing on springs (way too bouncy)

I actually just bought a Tofu65 hotswap and was going to do this same mod. I saw Keybored’s video, and the o-ring looked like an awesome mod. I am also going to do the PE foam mod! (His mod is different than this one though).
