My favorite of the new GotG is monster girl. How long before she becomes a baby though? How long until she is an embryo? Black Samson is kinda tight too. Damien Darkblood actually is from the book. He was set up to be important, only to end up being a Rorschach joke. In this series, he's going to actually succeed in his mission or at least not be the last to figure it out
"If we learned anything from Mandalorian: Just go do the thing!" This! This is my problem with so many shows nowadays, they just drag their feet while I just want to see the interesting stuff. Its like the latest season of TWD, its just nothingness and it leaves me crounching my head on the wall. I appreciate how quickly this show is getting through things so much because of that.
Well, you'll like Invincible then, it is an incredibly efficiently-paced series. There is very little downtime and what is present is used to set up the next big story arcs in the background. The story moves along at a good clip, constantly escalating stakes and changing the status quo of the Invincible universe. When people talk about the big moments in the comics they even forget to bring up the slaughter of the Guardians of the Globe because there are just that many other events with just as much if not more importance.
Seeing this happen at all is crazy for me. I've literally been wanting an animated Invincible show for a decade. If they get to the series end I'm sure I'll be bawling my eyes out the whole time. I just love that last issue so goddamn much.
Every trade paperback in the series is named after a different classic family sitcom. In the comics, Mark gets the idea for his superhero name from his school's dean, who's literally just Carl Winslow.
I just got to the "seance dog" bit. In the comic books, it was "science dog", and yes they made actual real world comic books. It was a limited run in the "invincible universe" side series.
Great job on these invincible reactions so far guys. Love the fact that Adam has the main comic knowledge but Jay is coming at it fresh. The Seance Dog comic is an adaption from the original comics - in the original it was Science Dog, and Kirkman thought to adapt it because of the more popular focus currently on Dr. Strange.
I think there was also a consideration based around intellectual property rights, he wanted to retain the character instead of putting it in an Amazon licensed show. Plus it also helps to set up that the show takes place in an alternate universe from the comics.
I'm getting the idea that it's not that Nolan doesn't like to talk about his feelings... it's that he doesn't have them. At least, not in regards to humanity. He sees himself as so far above us that he just doesn't care. It manifested in Mark for a moment, too, when he told his mom to make him come inside. His humanity seems to be winning out, but I get the feeling that Daddy is going to try to snuff that out, and soon.

So I'm guessing Omni man was waiting for his kid to get super powers to activate his plan of just him & his son ruling the galaxy as father & son. Or maybe I'm just mixing it up with another story.
Mark getting his powers escalates his dad's plan. Nolan/Omniman had prepared himself for the possibility that his son would never get his powers. Both scenarios play out into something bigger.
I think he just wants Earth. Prob desirable atmosphere or because it’s inhabitants are relatively similar to his kind physically. I feel like he could be the saiyan version of Superman, sent to take over and stuff. This makes sense because he came there for a hidden reason. Plus, his son taking the human side against him may hinder his plans so he’s trying to convince Mark not to become attached to them
I’m so glad I found this. My coworker saw the scene where omni man massacres the guardians on Facebook and after digging in the comments we found the name of the show. We just finished the third episode today, and now we are waiting for the next one to come out in the next day or so. So excited
After the penny-drop over Dupli-Kate last episode for Jay.... and the continued enthusiasm of Adam this time I'm just loving this set of reviews - it's that good good pReview'd we're just getting all the time now and I'm here for it. One day.... thirty years from now.... we'll be at the Peaches pReunion, remembering this stuff. Possibly with Adam over a shared peanut-butter sandwich. We'll laugh as we remember this alongside the fact that Adam, despite at this time now being nearly 50 has still not tried a chicken pot pie. And over a glass of water with our young hero (because we will have decided not to risk the milk as it didn't come marked with the fat content and who needs THAT minefield) we'll all share a hug. And a virtual hug with Jay, who will be joining us via live stream from the mansion retirement home he now shares with Kimberley and has since his 80th birthday that year. (dabs eyes) love you guys

I tried to buy all 3 compendiums today on Amazon after watching the first 3 eps of the show. I'd read all of Invincible but it was a long time ago and I never bought all the comics. Well lo and behold, Amazon is SOLD OUT of the Invincible comics, as they all shot up to the top of there best seller charts. Gotta wait till next month for them to restock, lmao

No one ever notices the sucking noises when Eve finds Rex with Kate. They legitimately added that in as a detail and I have yet to see anyone take notice of it besides me.
This show is a master class on "show, don't tell." We fear Omni-Man because we *see* what he's capable of, we SEE that he's leaps and bounds above every other superhero on the planet.
Seance Dog was Science Dog in the Invincible comics. Carl Grimes was also a fan of Science Dog, he wore a t-shirt in both the TWD comics and season 1 of the tv show with Science Dog's logo, the Atomic Paw.
Reread the first three arcs of the comic after you boys posted the Episode 1 reaction. Man, I loved Invincible when it was still in production. This show looks absolutely incredible and I have to get a Prime sub so I can get my wife to watch it with me
Atom eve is my favorite character from the comics and I’m loving the little changes there making for her character for the series to make the story flow better. Her powers are the coolest!
Maybe we should dive in to the psychological intrigue of how dupli-kate's duplicate selves are all as real as her... does she experience their deaths? Do her copies just accept the fact that they are expendable get out of laser fire free cards?
Do your thoughts just accept the fact that they're expendable, when they either get assimilated into your memories or airbrushed out of existence? And does that make those thoughts any less real? Think about it...
BTW, while there is no "Seance Dog" comic, Kirkman DID put out a 'SCIENCE DOG' comic that you can read. He changed it to 'Seance Dog' in the TV adaptation of Invincible as an homage to the other comic without causing property right issues.
I think Robot letting out the Maulers is him trying to give his new guardians a warm-up, a potential confidence booster that could backfire because of the lack of cohesion. He picked the team individually rather than on their compatibility Also Eve appears more of a Barbara Gordon/Starfire combo, which kinda fits for Mr Grayson over here...but there is some lantern-esque style there

Eve probably has the strongest non-Viltrumite power set in the series. We haven't seen much more than energy blasts and force fields, but she actually rewrites matter on an atomic level, hence the name. She can pretty much turn anything into anything else. But in combat we do see her doing mostly lantern/Starfire stuff, energy blasts, manifesting weapons and armor, etc.
I don't think this show would have even been on my radar if you guys hadn't been so excited about the trailer, so I've gotta second that emotion - thank you for bringing this into my life 😆

Yeah, I think Robot freed the Mauler Twins for his own specific purpose, but I imagine he's keeping that on the dl and just convinced Cecil they would be good for a team-building exercise, or something, his wording was slightly unclear.

To be fair to clarify it wasn't the most easy thing to do. well they stood no chance but it took years for him to conquer that planet but because of the time difference it was just hours on earth.

17:15 nah guys. They’re pulling a Columbo with the mystery of the deaths of the original Guardians. The fact that we, the audience, know who killed them isn’t the point. It’s how the other characters are going to figure it out and what will happen when they do
"Séance Dog" is only for the show, the one in the comics is "Science Dog" which is an actual comic book series, maybe that's why they changed it.. Also the fight vs Doc Seismic was so, so much better than the one in the comics, which was the same case with the Omni-Man vs Guardians one, oh, man, can't wait for the other big fight that is coming soon, they're doing such a great job with the action sequences...
It is going to be insane. The comics hadn't hit their gore stride yet and the scale of destruction was so large that even when we saw bodies flying everywhere it wasn't exactly graphic. But after the way they portrayed the Flaxan incursions, I know it'll be so goddamn bloody.

Actually, when it comes to the strain on the shoulders, you could handle it. Provided you're not in a fixed position. Like, if you pointed upward while standing on the ground...yeah, splat. But if you're pointing down, and so long as the acceleration isn't too great, you'd just be launched into the air. It would cause repetitive stress injury over time, but your shoulders wouldn't just pop out. Again...unless the acceleration was higher than the human body itself can generate....which isn't required to do any of the things he was doing except for when he destroyed the boulder flying at him. That one should've killed him...driven his arm through his torso like a spear.
Someone please tell me I can read Seance Dog. This show is great and intriguing and Adam's hints and mentions of the quality of the comic storytelling have me hype.

There's Science Dog comics. Thats who Invincible reads but they couldn't use that name and character in the show so they made Séance Dog.
It took forever for me to realize it's Atom Eve and not AdamEve.
The atom part of her chest emblem is barely visible.

I am loving this show. The dialog is great, the animation is stellar.... thank you boys for putting me on to it. Also the other red flag with Amber......WHO LISTENS TO MUSIC WHILE READING A BOOK?!
In the comic it isn't Seance Dog it's Science Dog and there are a few of those out there. I Believe I have one in my collection somewhere.
I don't know why, but in the comic the Séance Dog book was Science Dog, I don't know why they changed it (IIRC).
The only thing that I could watch more than seeing Rex (Douche-ier Gambit) getting wrecked every episode is watching you two see Rex getting wrecked every episode....

To be fair to clarify it wasn't the most easy thing to do. well they stood no chance but it took years for him to conquer that planet but because of the time difference it was just hours on earth.

8:23 It sucks that they did that to him. He was actually thankful to Mark in the comic. And Mark has a good moment of character where he tells him it was the right thing to do even though he was mad about Rex cheating on Eve.

17:15 nah guys. They’re pulling a Columbo with the mystery of the deaths of the original Guardians. The fact that we, the audience, know who killed them isn’t the point. It’s how the other characters are going to figure it out and what will happen when they do
"Séance Dog" is only for the show, the one in the comics is "Science Dog" which is an actual comic book series, maybe that's why they changed it..
Also the fight vs Doc Seismic was so, so much better than the one in the comics, which was the same case with the Omni-Man vs Guardians one, oh, man, can't wait for the other big fight that is coming soon, they're doing such a great job with the action sequences...
It is going to be insane. The comics hadn't hit their gore stride yet and the scale of destruction was so large that even when we saw bodies flying everywhere it wasn't exactly graphic. But after the way they portrayed the Flaxan incursions, I know it'll be so goddamn bloody.

Actually, when it comes to the strain on the shoulders, you could handle it. Provided you're not in a fixed position. Like, if you pointed upward while standing on the ground...yeah, splat. But if you're pointing down, and so long as the acceleration isn't too great, you'd just be launched into the air. It would cause repetitive stress injury over time, but your shoulders wouldn't just pop out. Again...unless the acceleration was higher than the human body itself can generate....which isn't required to do any of the things he was doing except for when he destroyed the boulder flying at him. That one should've killed him...driven his arm through his torso like a spear.
