@@Otisboy121not really, thinking that they’d actually show that particular moment form the comics is delusional. They will NEVER show that. There’d be too much backlash, possibly lawsuits. Not to mention the fact that no one would be able to react to it, cause even the mere mention of the word is enough to get entire channels permabanned.

Yeah I think it was a really clever use of dramatic irony, a way for the show to communicate with fans of the comics “we know who she is and what she does”
Its the same in this comics at that point if i recall. She also pushes Mark into a crater on the end of first encounter. I guess its one of her things. So its a 'bonus' tease of other horrific scene thats gonna happen, but would probably look the same even without thay scene appearing later. Due to comic accuracy

The sheer terror and the way Adam was flinching every time Anissa was anywhere near Mark, or even said that she wanted to talk to him alone, tells the whole story.

25:02 This look of horror on Jay's face when Adam starts breaking down his reaction to Anissa is everything. Like for the people who don't know, the reactions to Anissa must seem very strange. Like I have a friend who hasn't read the comics, and he was like "Damn that chick was badass, I hope we see more of her" and apparently whatever expression I made when he said that made him want to pick up the comics.

I respect the hell out of Adam for not spoiling the events of the comics (which could potentially spoil the show) while also making it abundantly clear that Anissa is going to do some heinous shit in the future

Adam… I feel for you. So much. Anissa’s introduction sent *chills* down my spine, far more than any of Omni-Man’s fights, Battle Beast against the Guardians, or even Shrinking Rae’s ‘Death’ scene.
I’m both ecstatic & absolutely *horrified* for what might happen later on.
Lots of thoughts about this ep. First, the joke at the comic con perfectly captures one of the best, most iconic bits from the entire comic run and translates it amazingly to this medium. They could not possibly have bodied that harder.
Adam’s reaction was my reaction when I saw anissa it was a huge oh no moment. I knew the “thing” wouldn’t happen yet but it’s scary knowing what’s coming

They will never show what she does to Mark in the comics. There’d be too much backlash, that moment will be cut out entirely and they will do something different with her.
@@matthewterlaga3022 Maybe they won't visually show what she does to him but they could allude to some things. Perhaps they will tone down certain aspects of her character.
Tbh I want them to go as all out as they can, it would shed some light on male victims and maybe spark a conversation about it. They probably will tone it down/offscreen but allude to it, but it would be extremely ballsy if they didn’t.
This episode made it clear to Mark and Amber how fragile their relationship has gotten through despite the circumstances between his life with and without superheroics. With the looming threat of Anissa and other Viltrumites, their romance had become the straw that broke the camel's back.
Poor Adam. You can see the fear in his eyes as soon as he realized who she was.
So the big thing of the episode was Anissa showing up which got Adam shook (and for good reason) but also can we give it up for Donald this episode LETS GO 👏👏👏

Adam must be forgetting. Mark did meet Anissa around this time in the comics, but the circumstances were slightly different. He was getting lunch with his mom when Anissa showed up before. Also, I'm surprised Adam didn't say or do anything when Anissa mentioned that "he's coming".

There's never been a clearer example of a person who read the source material vs someone who's totally oblivious. haha! Nolan forced Mark to catch a train, so I think they're going to do the full Anissa story, true to form.
Adam's reaction to seeing Anissa was one of pure fear
Actually, as a comic fan, I love Anissa and given the crater Mark was in, part of me was thinking "are they gonna skip straight to "that scene!?" and personally, I'm actually really looking forward too it and seeing all the ramifications unfold, especially how it affects Mark and others around him but I also really love how Anissa's story unfolds as well, and while the show does make changes, they've all been for the better so far, so I'm really looking forward to how everything unfolds, especially Anissa's story.
I've been waiting all day to watch Adam getting PTSD from Anissa like I did😨😰
Adam was terrified when that crater appeared...comics readers know the fear...I since S1 was wondering how they're gonna handle it, like it's a pretty big chunk of the whole franchise, just gotta keep waiting unless they've removed a massive chunk of the story.

As horrific as it was, we rarely ever see something like that depicted THAT way in media so, in a weird way, props to Robert Kirkman.

There is an important reveal about the Viltrumites that I think HAS to happen before they even consider her doing that thing that we can't say.

@@Observer-OHmmm...how to say this with minimal spoilers... Her motivations for her actions are not strictly personal. Viltrumites have a specific goal she is trying to contribute to, albeit in an especially messed up way. If they do that scene before revealing those other motivations, it would make an already touchy subject seem to come completely out of nowhere.
I think it is explain in multiple ways much earlier. Just read the comics m8. Whole major reveal Nolan will make to Allen in that prison is there are only around 50 viltrumites left, so its pretty obvious they need to reproduce. The thing about "forcing themselves" onto weaker individuals is only explained though after Annissa violates Mark. It doesnt need more explanation. It fits unfortunatelt quite understandably into viltrumites barbaric invaders nature... its vile and self explanatory, so i think it will be more of a shock when it happens and Nolan will justify it after everything, like its natural for him. It will only force Mark to change viltrum ways later on. Its important part of it all to additionaly show how Nolan, even after all this still is very much flawed by old ways of viltrum. Even after changing so much already
She shows up here in the comics as well. She comes to monitor Marks progress and when she sees he’s not complying, that’s when they send the big guy!
I'm psyched for Conquest!
Just watching Adam go through the range of emotions, trying to hold back, maintaining Jay's ignorance/fresh enjoyment was a sight to see. Equally impressive was the show's portrayal of PTSD, a really worthwhile and delicate telling of the bigger story

I’m back! Because I forgot to say, somehow they made Donald (a complete throwaway in the books) one of my absolute favorite characters in this universe. His arc has been INCREDIBLE - so much so that I teared up during the roof scene.
I was initially like "Donald is huge in the comics!" but then I remembered he's actually huge in the OTHER Invinciverse comics, but yeah, in Invincible proper, he totally is a background character. I'm really glad we're getting the full version of him cuz he's always been one of my favorites.
When I watched this I was like... oh boy. This comic con stuff is *made for you.*
The moment that they were on the island you could just SEE the more the fight went the more horrified Adam was cause HE KNOWS why Anissa is sooooo hated

One more layer to the joke that has been pointed out by a lot of other channels about the Seance Dog author is that while he didn't look like him in the comics, this one is designed to look like Robert Kirkman.

As someone who HAS NOT read the comics but KNOWS who Anissa is and what she does, I can’t tell you how much I’ve been anticipating this reaction ALL DAY. lol. I partly wanted to skip to it while watching because Adam’s reaction the scene holds the most weight to me of all those who react to this show. He’s been the most important person to watch react because of how he responds to things he knows that we don’t, and also his facial expressions/side looks at Jay. I sometimes go back and watch their reaction to season 1 just for “the scene”. Great stuff. That scene/moment in this episode and reaction will definitely go down as one of the best next to Episode 6 of Squid Games. 😂
I feel like Adam, and all of us comic readers, were so shocked by Anissa that we barely caught the Conquest set-up.
Also, Anissa. Oh god…Anissa.
Anissa shows up at basically the same time as in the books and appears consistently throughout the story. The you-know-what doesn't happen until the last third of the series.
Last fourth even.
Adam said a thousand things with that realization and we all did the same 😂😂😂
Adam's reaction to Anissa showing up perfectly represents how all comic fans felt seeing the character finally make the jump to the show. Right now I'm just interested to see how they plan to approach...certain aspects of her character later on.
Gotta say having the actress who plays Becca in the boys also voicing Anissa is kinda wild considering happens to both characters.
This does happen in the comics however, it was his mom that Anissa threaten not Amber and then she leaves and takes Alan like in the show the moment you are thinking about happens way later
Cecil should have told Mark "We don't stand a chance if she kills you." to get him to actually go with the plan.
When Anissa showed up, I literally yelled, "NO! NO! I THOUGHT WE HAD MORE TIME BEFORE HER!"
I've gotta say, I am really happy that no one is outright spoiling the thing in the comments of this, I've seen lots of reactions where everyone immediately jumps down and starts talking about it. This might have been one of my favorite reactions I've seen to her appearance as well..lol, we got both sides of the spectrum.
This is when she popped up....because she came before you know who....at this point....we had no idea she would do what she did later.....

I was rereading the comics recently, and Anissa actually does show up this early. I was surprised, cuz I didn't remember her appearing at this point in the story and I equally didn't remember that what she did that makes her so hated happens waayyyy later in the comics too.
I was was dying laughing at the scene of the comic writers explaining how hard animation is and the ways they cut corners!🤣🤣🤣
I swear every time Adam goes into comic mode, I want to read them so bad haha. Probably will soon, because I have a feeling next episode is gonna leave me craving MORE

Adam, she was in the comics once before the event. She showed up basically the same way, without the kaju. Hopefully the big guy is in the next episode, but I guess next season.
There is a sense of VERY cruel irony that the actress who does Becca Butcher from The Boys is the same person who voices Anissa…Iykyk

One thing I liked is how instead of Anissa threatening to kill Debbie like she did in the comics, she threatens to kill Amber, which in my opinion, makes it break up better than the comics.
What's so bad about Anissa? Allen seems to have her number and is outsmarting her. That guy with cyborg eye is the one who has me worried.
