  • Here is an in depth guide on how to remove and install the downpipe on a 2018 STI. I'm sure the same steps apply to the 2015+ models. Stay tuned for my next video on the Grimm speed EBCS Install Guide :) If you enjoyed please hit that like button and subscribe to my channel so you don't miss a video! Thanks for watching.

    My downpipe comes in today and I've just been browsing through videos to make sure I familiarize myself with the install and I have to say your video is by far the best on TH-cam. Good job man and thank you.

      Yes I'm gna tackle this same set up on my 2014 .. your video just made it supper easy 👍🏼.. I was about to pay my mechanic to put em on 😂.. he said 125 he will put em on .. let me know if the install head ache worth it for $125

      @@noxnyc23 if you have some mechanical skills, should be worth keeping the 125, just make sure you tighten the nuts and bolts around the bellmouth, then let the car warm, then re tighten the nuts and bolts. I did not do this and I lost a nut and bolt.

    nice progress, i found it was much easier to tie down the worm gear clamps with an 8mm socket, easier than putting a screwdriver up in there.

    This is by far the most clear downpipe install I’ve watch here on TH-cam! Good work man👍👍👍 I notice you didn’t install any downpipe heat shield?

    • @BeeAboveAverage
      @BeeAboveAverage  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I appreciate that my guy 🥲 The stock heat shield doesn’t fit with an aftermarket downpipe. You will need to cut some of the heat shield to be able to make it fit, but we just opted out of having it on at the time. Hope this helps!

    Did your car throw any check engine lights after this install? And does it require tuning afterwards? Great video! Your set up has come a long way since this video.

    • @BeeAboveAverage
      @BeeAboveAverage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a Cobb OTS tune I loaded onto the car right after the install and that eliminates the check engine light. But you do indeed need a tune for a downpipe especially if you are swapping it out for a catless one. I appreciate the feedback bro that car really has come a long way since this day, but it’s got a long way to go still ;)

  • @IamPatCarr

    Did you do any upgrades to the fuel system since you have an intake too? I have a 16 sti with a cobb intake, next week I'm putting on the cobb catted downpipe, then having a shop install ebcs and protune. They said I'll be fine, but I hear a lot of people saying it will run lean without the fuel upgrades. Any input is appreciated. Great video btw👍💪

    • @BeeAboveAverage
      @BeeAboveAverage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Patrick Carr I’m currently running stage 2 without any fuel system upgrades yet... I max out my injectors sometimes at 105% if I’m really getting on it in cold weather.. and that’s no good. At the end of my IAG install video I give a showcase of the fuel systems upgrades I purchased and am getting ready to install to my car. These are essential. I only recommend going stage 2 if you are planning on doing fuel system in the near future. If you are stage 2 and no fuel system upgrades I’d just suggest driving conservative in cold weather and never really push your car too hard till you get that done to your car :) I hope that helps :)

    I noticed on start up there was a sound that kinda sounded like a rattle snakes tail (the best way I could describe it) is that normal? Great video btw.

    • @BeeAboveAverage
      @BeeAboveAverage  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had a heat shield rattle near the rear of the exhaust that I never noticed till later. I think the phone just picks it up better but In person the exhaust is louder so you can’t really here it rattle unless it’s a cold start or your sitting in a drive thru at idle. I ended up finding it a little bit after I filmed this video. And thank you I appreciate it :)

    • @BeeAboveAverage
      @BeeAboveAverage  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jonathan Henry I looked down the entire exhaust and anywhere the heat shield looked too close I bent it away a bit. One place you can check on your car is the heat shield right in the center between your exhaust and driveshaft. Make sure it’s not too close to your drive shaft as when you are driving and changing the gears the driveshaft moves and makes contact with the heat shield. I’ve had that happen before and that was my solution :)
