The Ford Ranger is legendary in truck circles! How soon ppl forget. Most truck guys knew when Ford brought back a new Ranger it would be class leading. I bought '19 Ranger XLT FX4 an love it. Very impressive all around. Ford is a Truck & SUV Co & dominates those classes. Toyota is a sedan & economy car builder. Tundra 1/2 ton? Pls. Its weak , lacks power / strength & build quality/tech of F150 / F250. Tacoma is better than Tundra. Lets be proud of our All American iconic Ford Motor Co!

I'm in the market for a mid size truck and I test drove both. Back in February, I really wanted to like the Taco but the Ranger just felt more sophisticated, and it had more room in the back seats, and it was a better ride on the road. I used to work for a body shop that did prep on show vehicles for a Toyota dealer. One of them was a TRD Off Road Tacoma with the manual transmission. I had to deliver it and I thought it was really cool that it was a new truck with a stick shift! It didn't exactly drive how I expected a new truck to however. And the minivan engine did not sell me either. It was a dog! However, I did like the overall size and shape of the truck. Fast forward a few years, and I have a 2020 Ranger sitting in my driveway! The 2.3L EcoBoost's 310 ft-lbs gives it some punch, and the 10R80 transmission seems to take full advantage of it. Not to mention it is much more comfortable and the truck drives much less like an old truck compared to the Toyota! It is a matter of preference, but I am glad I sided with the Ranger!

So, I own a '09 Taco, 4 cyl. SR5. Great 4X4 for what it is. Tacoma's are hard to beat - best in class value holding even though some are pricey. My work took possession of a new Ranger a year ago. We have about 6K on it with no problems so far. I will say, the Ranger is punchy. That Turbo wants to go all the time but you don't have to engage it unless you need to step on it. I agree with most comments here about value, durability, etc. Although, once you research the Ranger you'll find it's not a totally new truck that's not proven itself durable. Look at how they use this model in Australia and actually prefer it over the venerable Hilux. So, will it hold it's value like a Taco? I doubt it. If a person isn't a die-hard Toyo driver, it's a good option so long as you get a better deal. The Ranger is a solid truck and I've been impressed with my few thousand miles I've driven it.

Ah yes, the same debate as always for a person seeing other trucks in a spec sheet a lot of trucks look way better than a Tacoma, with better mileage more towing and even interior because essentially Tacoma's are the same trucks for a extended time of year. But that's what makes Toyota trucks great and with loyal customers. if it ain't broke don't fix it mentality... with reliability over features. so while you make your new purchase Toyota owners don't mind the older interior, the higher gas mileage because that taco is ruining over 200 thousand miles if serviced properly, and having that peace of mind your trucks isn't giving up on you is everything....little ramble from a happy FJ cruiser owner 👍

Guys are towing 6000lb campers all over the country with no issues yet.
My 2019 Tacoma had as many recalls as the Rangers did.

My problem with many of the mid-size trucks is the rear/back seat area. The Ranger, like the GM variants (Colorado/Canyon), does not let you fold the rear seat up (or down) to get a flat area for storage or riding your dog. I am looking for a mid-size truck as a platform for a "light duty", overland type truck. The Ranger, Colorado/Canyon don't cut it because of the rear seat. I know many people use the rear for passengers; however, not everyone does. I would like the flexibility to use the rear area to ride people and then fold the seats up or down and have a flat area for storage or to ride my dog. Not sure about the Frontier (current or new version), but the Ranger and Colorado/Canyon loose in this area and the Tacoma wins.

@@koopspook lol . Toyota is reliability king . You mad ? Last I checked Ford and gm needed to be bailed out in 2008 . Did Toyota need to be bailed out? No

Well you have to know who did the video here, the man never really liked anything Toyota.Ask him what he drives & you’ll get the drift...So whatever this guy says is his Opinion, nothing more, nothing less.

Toyota Owners can’t stand the criticism. 2015 Tacoma is the Champ, and The Reputation Is old hype based on trucks of the past.

That eco boost engine will work harder and wear out faster than the proven 3.5 six in the Tacoma.

I put 280k on a 2nd gen. Taco over 14 years, I absolutely LOVED that truck. I am now 3 years in owning a 2018 3rd gen. TRD4x4 and I HATE the 3.5!!!!!! The stock gearing and electronics are a disaster and NO ONE who spends that much on arguably the most sought after trucks in America should have to go and spend thousands more to have the truck re-geared and fix Toyota's horrific changes to the best midsize truck ever (I stay true to my discipline of not carrying unnecessary debt).. DO NOT GET A TACOMA NEWER THAN 2015 UNLESS $ IS NO ISSUE FOR YOU!!!... Oh and I have a 2018 TRD4x4 for sale :)

If you want to go on an adventure, get a ranger. If you want to go on an adventure and come back, get a Tacoma.

Watch Savagegeeses very detailed review of Ranger junk and make sane assertion. I mean you really need to see it. Also ask auto tech of 52 years Scotty Kilmer on this LOL!

Turbocharging a 4 cyclinder is not a good idea .
It puts too much stress on a small engine .
You will have problems down the road.

2012 taco owner here……was between a Ford ranger and a Tacoma for months, I look for a vehicle that maintenance is easy to do and Tacoma sold me on that. Can’t go wrong with that oil filter location . Also the Tacoma is naturally aspirated so you will get 100’s of thousands of miles out of it, ranger will burn out with those turbos pretty quickly.

  • @schauerpictures2638

Gotta say tho I love the ranger but ... the rangers interior just seems dated. And it’s only like a year old. I just think a brighter / bigger screen would make the ranger better.
