      Pre-streaming too, so the charts were based on physical sales and radio station plays. The 80's especially had to shift top five digits just to get in to the top 20 UK Charts let alone the top 5, and that was weekly sales/plays.

    Jay Kay (Jamiroquai) was born Jason Luís Cheetham in Stretford , England on December 30, 1969, the son of English cabaret singer Karen Kay and Portuguese guitarist Luís Saraiva. He did not meet his biological father until 2001. Kay's identical twin David, died a few weeks after the two were born. His last name of Kay, is taken from his stepfather Mervyn Kay, who adopted him as a young boy when his mother remarried.
    He is best known as the co-founder and lead vocalist of the acid jazz and funk band Jamiroquai, which was formed in 1992. Lyrically, the group has addressed social and environmental injustice. He created the name Jamiroquai, as he wanted the public to realize that he was not a solo performer, that he was fronting a band of very talented musicians, so the name Jamiroquai is actually the name of the band, which has had various rotating members since its original inception in 1992.
    He is definitely one funky white/Latin dude! Here is a link to a brief 5 minute overview of him:

    I LOVE JAMIROQUAI ever since receiving his NEW FIRST ALBUM for my birthday back in the early 90's and then seeing him in a small club BEFORE he got famous!!!! EVERY SONG on EVERY ALBUM from his first until his most recent have been stellar. He took the ACID JAZZ genre up a notch and perfected the FUNK DISCO ROCK RETRO ELECTRONICA sound with his perfect voice and wonderfully clever COSMIC lyrical references and metaphors. This piece is a great autobiographical take on the origins of his musical shift in consciousness! GREAT songwriter of slick funk jazz driven influenced rhythms along with beautiful soulful ballads. FYI If you know or learn the history of his influences you'll find much of his inspiration comes from 70's jazzy atmospheric funk bands like Roy Ayers, Herbie Hancock, Lou Donaldson, EWF, Grant Green, Sly Stone, Gil Scott-Heron, of course Stevie Wonder and a slew of lesser known greats from that era...

Where House, rap, rave, alternative, Techno musics were hitting the waves, jamiroquai comes around and bring back that funky 70s style back to the mat, "earth wind and fire" vibes. A breath of fresh air to the sound waves at the time. Mid 90s. He took on some weight though. They slowly disappeared in the 2000s. They're trying to come but yeah... it's very competitive. Yeah back when this came out and was a huge hit we really couldn't figure out how it was done but now it's pretty obvious. We're also way too used to digital effects now so nothing much impresses but this was the perfect blend of his dancing style and the director's moves. Rare combination. When he just gets away from the couch and wall before they meet is a triumph, haha

Some say it's about the lost of a child -though I think it was a tribute to the lead singer's lost child the lyrics themselves contain euphemisms about the obsession once was becomes addicted to heroin (arm through the loom), etc. A masterpiece for those who love not only good composing and playing but artful lyric writing.

      @@JoeyBaguez The astrological ages are when the vernal equinox has that constellation at the zenith. It is thought that each age which lasts about 2160 years may herald a fundamental shift in the world. The dawn of the age of Pisces (our current age) was thought to have occurred around the fall of the roman empire or the birth of Christ. The Age of Aquarius is thought to herald in a new paradigm of peace, some think after a great downfall caused by the Technology bubble bursting. My guess would be a Solar flare that fries our planet's electrical grid similar to how the flare that occurred in the 1800's fried the world wide telegraph system. An EMP of that magnitude will effectively throw this planet into darkness and chaos given our reliance on technology. After the dust settles, that's when the age of Aquarius begins.

    • @miltonbates6425
      @miltonbates6425 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@JoeyBaguez We're on the cusp of the Age of Aquarius, transiting from The Age of Picese. Each Astrological Age is part of a supercycle, marked by the vernal equinox within a constellation as it moves in retrograde through them. An Astrological Age is believed to last around 2160 years, but this is false in that it depends on the size of the constellation, as they cover different lengths of space from our viewpoint on earth. But you could call it an average. To understand what the coming Age of Aquarius will bring, it's best to refer to the oldest sources for the nature of Aquarius (the writings of Ptolemy and Manilus, to start) and the mythology that accompanies it (e.g. the story of Ganymede, the Cup Bearer to the gods of Olympus) Aquarius has certain characteristics that manifest in our world and influence human consciousness. Keep in mind that we are on the cusp of this new Age and will be for our lifetimes, so the blending of Picese and Aquarius is what is shaping our outlook. As we move through the sign over the next 2000+ years, it's influence will peak in around 1000 years from now and slowly wane into the Age of Capricorn. Those expecting something drastic to change our consciousnesses in this new Age are ignoring human nature and our own history.
