You'll never go wrong with Jamiroquai. There's a video on YT about how they made this video, it's really clever and actually the exact opposite of a giant treadmill, the floor is the only thing that didn't move.
Cosmic girl, cars or not..tee hee..is a lot of fun and gives a further glimpse to Jamiroquai...I got this cd as soon as it came out, I'm a very metal fan and my friend looked at me crossed, but it's sooo good
A song waaaay ahead of it's time and even more relevant today than ever. Social media, disinformation, gaming, virtual reality... Loneliness and depression in the 21st century.. "Virtual insanity is what we're living in..."
So the floor isn't moving, the room is! They are in a giant open warehouse, and the whole room is being pushed around. But because of the fixed camera in the room, it makes it look like the floor is moving. It's one of the coolest videos ever. You really have to appreciate Jamiroquai's choreography here as well, moving perfectly around the couches and other objects. My understanding is that he mostly made up the dancing on the spot.
This would be a huge rabbit hole your going down. These guys make some stunning choons. 'Canned Heat', 'Cosmic Girl', 'Alright', 'Love Foolosophy', 'The Return of the Space Cowboy', 'Rock Dust Light Star', 'Scam', 'Deeper Underground'. ..the list goes on and on
They have a lot of great songs. "Canned Heat" is my favorite of theirs. It's a personal theme song for me. "Time Won't Wait" is another one. I think they have the "floor" on wheels and they move it while keeping the rest of the set in place.
I remember a behind the scenes of the video shoot playing on mtv back then, the whole room is on wheels and they move it around. and the furniture is fastened to the walls for parts. can't remember exactly how, if it was magnets or whatever. I wore out the tape I had of that bts video, made me really want to do production design for a bit.
RIP toby on keys! and that's the GOAT stuart zender on bass, definitely gotta check out more of their stuff they super talented and their early concert videos are soooo fire they sound even better live
Along with downloading the song, consider downloading the whole album. They're a greatly undervalued band. The song writer might as well be a modern day prophet.
I remember a few years back....maybe 2017...I was dating this woman and she was a big "Top 40" kinda gal with artists like Jason Mraz and such. I mentioned Jamiroquai's "Virtual Insanity" thinking she would get the connection. Instead she looked at me confused haha. I showed her the song and she instantly fell in love with it. Granted, she was born in the early 90's so it probably flew under her radar. But me being born in the mid 80's, I was very familiar with their music and I still crank this jam whenever it comes up in the car. Great reaction, my friend!
I remember I was in Germany is high school. Parents were in military so I lived over there with other Americans. Song takes me back. Great reaction bro.
Thank you!!! I was older than you in the 90s when first heard a Jamiroquai song and thought wtf? An absolutely amazing band. Just enjoy everything of theirs! Jay Kay's mum was a jazz singer and you can tell!
I remember when this came out and I've never tired of hearing it or watching the video since. Cloud 9 is another great track to try of their's it's one of there more recent hits and very catchy, just like this song.
They have a really cool catalog of songs to check out, the song Canned Heat is featured in one of the classic movie scenes in Napoleon Dynamite when he is up on the stage performing in the school talent show
You should see his car collection. Some of them are in his "cosmic girl" song, or so I've been told, but he defo had some great cars. He was on top gear once, he nailed the driving, I think he won the celebrity driving comp.

The room moves (it is on wheels and is pushed around a huge warehouses by a bunch of people). The floor stays still. The Camara is attached to the last side so ot moves with the room. The couches against the walls are sometimes attached to the walks with bolts and move with the room and other times the bolts are removed leaving the couches to stay where they are as the room moves around them and/or away from them.

Sure enough, I was immediately wrong, lol...To this day the visual effects of this clip still trip me out, then again the 90's saw a lot of boundaries being either pushed or broken, if I could go back and relive every day of that decade I'd do it with the quickness! Jason Kay is still one of the funkiest Brits EVAAAAAAAAH
He is one of a kind. Acid jazz, Funk, soul, disco. I'm sure that you'll love "Bad Girls" cover, live in Verona. Singing under a strong rain. Amazing!!! Good reaction!!! Greettings from Argentina!! Sorry for my English
Yeah. They kinda disappeared after this album. Saw them live at the Wharfield Theater in San Francisco. Amazing show. Multiple drummers and a full horn section and even a Didgeridoo.
