By saying electric motor mechanism, you mean the door lock actuator, right? I have the same problem and I'm only worried if I change a part that is not the reason. :D

Hi there. The fault will be in the electric motor mechanism. When you buy a second hand part they will normally give you the whole assembly.
Hi do you need to buy a new key aswell?
No, key doesn't connect directly to this unit, so the old key will work.

Yes it is an actuator. It's a common issue so if you have the same symptom it's highly likely to be that unit.
