I appreciate your video. Straight to the point and also pointing out the problem with the barbed rod. Another video shows them start to pry it then it's off. Setting me up to break it. Thank you!
Thanks so much!! I followed your fantastic video and I fixed after 5 years my Toyota RAV 4, 2003 ... and the gratification to do by myself was AMAZING!! By the way the only thing I didn't was to taking out the handle.
Great video! I got as far as that pesky clips and found your video first try. Contrary to what people might be saying there is NO short cut and after taking the part out and looking at it I can affirm that. Prying on it in place with ONLY break the clip. Taking out the handle only takes a couple of minutes and now that I've done it would only take one. Thanks for the tips and straight forward approach. I now have locks on the passenger side again, tomorrow the other side. funny how both fronts failed within days of each other.
A very large flat screwdriver inserted through one of the holes in the door panel can wedge under that metal rod and release it from the plastic, no problem. Just twist the screwdriver once it's underneath. No need to pull the door handle off
On the one I had, no chance. It was barbed on the end and it would absolutely break the plastic before coming out of it. Terrible! Ones I have done in the last work like you said but not this one :(
@@DrewGarage I just removed the drivers side actuator yesterday. Large flat screwdriver worked fine on the barbed rod. My problem was, driver door not unlocking. That's now fixed, but now, NONE of the doors lock since I replaced the actuator. I believe the problem may be a misadjusted actuator. The ECM in the RAV4 must be programmed in a flawed way that causes a daisy chain failure in the locks if even one lock goes out of adjustment. Bad design
@@rickpontificates3406 shoot you got lucky mine was permanent lol It is a bad design. If I owned one of these vehicles (the one I posted on was a customer car) I’d just disable the power locks and use the key. Keyless entry is nice but I’m still grateful to have a license and a car! And I have since 16 years old
My driver side power door button actually doesn’t lock or unlock the driver side door. But works for all others. Is that a Toyota feature or is it broken?
My driver door is stuck shut can not open inside or out , can unlock with key on outside and button on inside panel. I have the Door panel off still no luck opening with manually moving door handel bar and door lock bar

Anyway of opening door I'm assuming the locking mechanism is keep door from opening

Ok.4:40 lock is inside, and 4:50 it is in your hand. Magic ?! Actually removing mechanism from door was only a reason why I watch this video
How about at the back door, compartment?
Sorry no more Ravs in stock to experiment but should be similar engineering

Sounds like a bad switch or wire?!

Ahhh crap
That is rough, I totally unrelated to the video… I hope it works out!
It's not, this happens to me too@@pellacars
I was motivated to change the locks myself. But after watching this video, I wont touch my locks. lol He really made it look like a pian in the ASS.
He as in me?! It was a total pain! But if I can do it so can you :)
Toyota make this miserable clip in early 90s , before that the rod had different shape (talking for 1989 Camry vs. 1997 Camry experience!)
Yea it was bad! Some pop out easier. If you aren’t subscribed already, please consider it!
