  • Hi guys! Lots of engine fun this week! Agent 8771 finished up his freshened 302 and we got to run it in on the engine bench at the GCFCE! We also put a bunch more time in on the 364 for our 1959 Buick LeSabre project, and kept dismantling the hydraulic windows in the 1953 Oldsmobile 98 Holiday Hardtop... We'll also check in with Agent 7889 and the long-running 1967 Saab 96 restoration!
Thanks to everyone who subscribed to our channel here, and thanks also for all of your "likes" and comments!

Had to look twice. You have competition for DS and Fury views. A channel called restored has 180k views from a video 4 days ago rescuing a DS and they moved a Fury to get to the DS..
      Collaboration?

    • @coldwarmotors
      @coldwarmotors  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@ronmcgregor9324 I saw the "competition"... Well, they got the engine running. They limped it around the yard with no brakes and no suspension. The rest of the car is no closer to going on the road than when they started. I'll wait and see if it actually gets restored. I have restored DSs; the engine is the easy part. That car has 1000+ hours left to go. At least it has the simple standard transmission and manual brakes, so the hydro system is half as complex as most of them. The body isn't actually too bad on that one either. I will be impressed when I see it looking new and going down the road with plates on it and everything working, like the one I built and drove 2500 miles to Montreal the day I finished assembling it. Nice camera work, though... just a bit odd to call it "restored", haha.

All the best man! I had a stroke or something alike at birth and I have been living with it for 50 years. All I can say is that everything depends on the energy and effort you put into it. Don't expect too much from others, you have to do it yourself. If you go for it, you will be amazed at what you can achieve. Pity won't get you back on the tracks

Scott is the friend we all need, the one who gives us all the "get it done and drive it, it doesn't have to be perfect, don't let it get stale..." speech. We all need to hear this from time to time. If we are all being honest, we all have that one project that has stalled out for whatever reason that has been sitting for a decade. Sometimes you need that buddy to kick you in the pants and make you get it done, or at least progress towards that goal. Keep helping each other out Agents!

But it's definitely "Those who teach don't do!"! Just look at that spliced Fury. Okay, of course it's extremely gorgeous. But it nevertheless took way too much time. My most favourite car, the daily driver Frazer, is almost the opposite. And that's just how Scott should do a lot of the cars he has sitting on his property. Get them ready for inspection and put a license plate on them. Although, to be completed honest, I wouldn't drive the Frazer with those red primed spots on it. Additionally I would repair and put back on the original green left rear door.
Best regards, luck and health in particular.

Great to get updates of Dan’s Old’s refurbishment. Tedious Drudgery ,is definitely the two word description for your endeavours indeed. Dean’s guest appearances are always entertaining. Keep it ColdWar and Keep it Canadian.

You can put together a zinc plating station and cromating station for pretty dirt cheap and pretty simple. If you don't know what cromating is, if you've ever seen a carb that is yellowish, shiny and with a rainbow effect some certain angles, that is cromating. Zinc and cromating are about as good a protection it is possible to put on something like a carb. Chromating is just a chemical process, no electricity required. Though zinc plating will need a small amount of electricity.
Zinc is fairly soft and will wear away pretty easily. But when you chromate it, it turns hard and durable. The fact it looks very nice is just a side effect. Most people who do it, do it for the looks.

Back in the 1980's I thru a 302 into my 1971 Ford Ranger pickup. The engine came out of a '69 Fairlane that had been a grandma / grandpa car with 76K on it. Never heard it run until I fired it up in the truck. It ran great and used no oil. I put another 50K on the engine and the only thing I ever had a problem with was the Autolite carb when the brass float sprung a leak and sunk.

Great video! That 302 is sounding great! And the joys of GM hydraulic windows. They are actually good when rebuilt. They are strangely quiet when lowering them. I rebuilt a system on a 53 Cadillac a few years ago. The old timer that was helping me told me back in the day you could tell which cars had hydraulic windows as the paint was gone off the rockers caused by the brake fluid leaks. Lol. We used a light, clear hydraulic oil for tractors in the system when we reassembled the system and it worked great. And no paint loss when it leaks! Thanks for a great video. Ted

Hey Scott ! Man! Andy's Fairlane brings back memories. Back High School 73-75 a friend's dad who worked at Fords got him a 69 Fairlane Cobra Coupe. Black on black with the formal roofline not sports roof. No vinyl roof. It came with the 429SCJ police interceptor. They didn't release those till 70 but it had one. C6 automatic. Buckets and console. That thing was a torque monster ! A real head snapper. I've never seen another just like it. It was the 2nd fastest car in school. The #1 was a 70 440 6pack Challenger 4sp another buddy's older brother built and handed down to him. 👊😎👍 Great "Downward Spiral" Dean intro along with Menace Dog wheelies !

There are few things more satisfying than tying up a decades-old loose end- like reuniting the high-school hotrod with its original engine! That was a fun instalment for sure- what a great run-in stand... almost looks like it was built for commercial use! Hard to say what was going on with that errant exhaust seat- but some quick thinking made quick work of it! Also great to see Stephen's old Saab again- I agree, we need to get plates on that thing asap, what a fun project!

I love 302’s great little engines especially for something designed in the early 60’s and how long they were used. Also I’ve seen someone use a bar of soap instead of bread before but from the looks of it the bread cleans up a lot easier

Mighty sweet tones coming out of Andy’s 302. When that mill gets dropped in, his car will get heads turning left and right. Liked the work on the Buick to correct the valve seat irregularity; good that condition was caught before the head was reinstalled. Speaking of seats a suggestion: when the Buick’s back in the garage, look forward to seeing the Agents occupying that spacious interior for a little impromptu ‘toking’ like they did when Dean’s Edsel was being finished. Those were some fun moments capturing the CWM crew at their best.

I haven't commented in a while, but I've been watching. Sometimes I just don't have shit to say. It looks cold in Alberta. The Chiefs won the super bowl, they had a parade on Valentine's Day, then there was a shootout. 21 people shot; 1 person died. Cheers from Kansas City.
