- Hi guys! Another busy week! Our 8mm film is back from the developer; I'll be including bits of it in the next several weeks' videos... Hope you enjoy these clips, presented un cropped and un-edited. Special thanks to Niagra Film Labs in Toronto.
Good progress on the 364 Nailhead for our 1959 Buick LeSabre project... the bottom end gets assembled this week; I'm very happy with it! Then: over to Jim's to keep at the Mark II Continental; the 1/4 panel is finally welded on! Jim has been working hard on it now; can we get it finished this summer?

great progress this week and as always thanks for the videos! it is unfortunately not hard to believe there is government overreach and is just another example of a global change not for the better . i wish laura and her husband the best of luck as he is a farmer ..... without him we do not have food which makes little sense and i for one would rather have 100 7th generation family farms than one corporation with efficiency experts and thats good enough values

My dad loved your vids, He bought your merch. Unfortunately, he passed away before he could do his project. He picked up a 40 plymouth with suicide doors and was going to channel it. He thought he would take a trip to your yard in it to show it off and hang out with the pups. (he may have wanted to blaze too lol). I want to sell it to you if you want to come to the usa to pick it up.
Screwing over farmers is the definition of biting the hand that feeds you. Good luck Laura.
They're doing much the same type of thing in the UK and Europe, and have been for years.
@@smhorse There was a piece of farmland that was our family property for generations. When they built a highway through it my family accepted the amount of money offered by the Government. One neighbour did not regard the offer acceptable and fought the Government: Result: At the end he was paid less than they had originally offered. Normally The Government always wins. It was important to have this highway, so there was not to much oppositon.
But the route they chose destroyed uniqe and lovely natural floodplain areas. Today NOONE would even dare to propose this project this way.
Fact is, that there is a railway and the highway could have been built beside it. But the land needed would have been more expensive, so they decided to destroy a beautiful and nearly virgin landscape. Nature did bite them in the butt: Everything they built was sliding down a slope and they had to spent a terrible amount of effort and money stabilazing the whole thing.
Let us all say a prayer to help Laura and her husband in Jesus's name we pray

I can relate to Laura’s situation. As a lifelong farmer myself, I realize most people don’t give much of any thought to the commitment of a family’s work in building their farm, and how much of their own personality the farm stead reflects. I hope that the local government decides they can build their new hockey rink in a location that won’t conflict with the operation of a successful farm.

God bless the farmers, our family farm ended up being a old 100+ acres place to the invention of the taxes and now it is down to the little 40 acres now and the working two jobs to keep everything and work on the farm. 😮💨

@@johndeerekid8490 their property was expropriated, they didn’t willingly sell it. Expropriated for one purpose, and then the municipality seemed to change its mind and wants to use it for another. They probably would have fought the original expropriation if the municipality had stated what they desired using it for now. Under the original land use, no one would have cared about a livestock facility being near by, but the new land use, a livestock facility will smell like manure, and cause friction with non farm people.
Just signed Laura's petition. I hope she and Colin get through this and can save their farm. As a Newfoundlander, I have seen rural communities decline and ultimately perish. Without farmers and fishers none of us would have enough to eat.

Hubby signed and I shared on FB. Thank you, Scott, you helped my husband get through cancer treatments and hospital stays. Steve's a volunteer fire fighter, has done a 24 hr rotation at Ground Zero, NYC, and a few years later found he contracted Multiple Myeloma. 2 years cancer remission. But doctors' found a spot in the abdominal area. Going for a biopsy. Wish Steve Nappy well!

Make sure you re-pack the oil pump with Vaseline or something similar before you reinstall it. That primes the pump so it doesn't dry start on the first go.
A bit of a bitter sweet video. The Conti looks solid at last but my joy at seeing it was tempered by the dreadful thing happening to Laura and her family. I sincerely hope the petition does some good and their lives won't be ruined by thoughtless bean counters. ❤

Sad to see the Continental quarter panel saga coming to an end. Before the series goes into syndication, you should put together a clip show featuring the best moments, with behind the scenes commentary. I'd also recommend releasing an exclusive line of Continental Quarter merchandise.

I love the old black and white film. Dean looked like a proud dad presenting the new Edsel to the family. My compliments to the model builder with that wrecking yard. Those scenes are fun. The petition is signed. I have watched 90 per cent of the family farms in my area disappear in the last 50 years. Government everywhere has just gone to shit.

The nail head looking great. The rope seal will drag a bit and have breakaway torque. Those 5/64 rings exert a lot of radial tension too. Those engines definitely had to overcome a lot of parasitic friction/drag. Good job on a budget. If youre using a new timing chain soak it a few days before installing, most wear occurs on break in. 👍
The 8MM clip with the projector overdub was a fine piece of production work and look forward to when the ‘T’ gets some top billing. And somewhere, there’s a guy smiling who worked in Buick City’s engine plant upon learning of the good efforts on the Nailhead’s redemption. The Continental’s quarter panel completion is a epic triumph which will make the car the star of Jim’s friend’s wedding. Heroic work here blokes; crack open another Molson!

Scott, love the B+W intro with Frankers greeting Dean and his Edsel! The water pump by ever there to pitch in Dean and your oil pump reconditioning was cool but the painstaking crank install was the highpoint! Piston ring install is always a nail biter from the stretch onto the pistons to the knock-in but the heart of the Buick is now several major steps forward toward extra fine nick! You and Andy truly aided and abetted Jim to return the two year long running Lincoln project to the highway! Cheers to all! PS so sorry to hear of Laura's plight! Sometimes it just takes a fight to quell the bureaucrats!

Well if the gasket seals good and feels good, do it! Dean is the quality control master. For Jim's Continental, it warms the soul to see the light at the end of the tunnel. Reminds me of some of our "centennial projects" way back in ' 67. Never give up! Enjoyed the yesteryear film of the Ford Edsel. We used to count the number of Tri tone Edsels on a long trip. I am not surprised of the f*cked up priorities in this country. Was more than happy to sign and put in a monthly pledge. Came back to Canada in 2015 after 30 + years in France but I can tell you it's everywhere the same in the West. We stand together or we fall.

That 8mm footage was worth every bit of the wait- it came out beautifully, and even more so that so many hands were needed to create it the old-fashioned way. Well done! You guys really nailed putting together the Buick's engine. The Conti is almost Solid again ! Maybe Jim can get a kegger going and have a day of all hands sanding? A couple gallons a body filler and a few yards of 300 grit will work wonders ;) Love the 'Super-8' flicks. Very fitting with the rides you all attempt to drive.

The Conti is looking like a real sleek lead sled now. This is the place for the most epic journey of a quarter panel.
As for the farm situation, that sucks so bad. I know how some R.M.s and council conduct themselves at times, and well... it's not always in the best interest of the community. I'm passing the petition around our farm and family. Here's hoping some good news comes around. As a farmer, when that's all you know and live for, there will always be a void doing anything else. I've tried, but I've always come back to the farm.

A hugely satisfying end to a stressful and distressing week at least for me. Nothing better than to join the rest of the CWM Universe and watch Scott and Crew of Talented Agents tackle the challenges before them. Two amazing milestones achieved with the Buick nailhead and the '56 Continental. Looking forward to final assembly, smoke, fire and glorious noise from the Buick and the much anticipated fill and paint work to begin on the Continental. With the rest of our world falling apart it's so encouraging to see things in the CWM Universe coming together. Definitely adding my name to Laura's farm project petition. It's a shame when not just our American government but your government acting like the power hungry governments elsewhere on the planet instead of being governments by the people for the people, they turn against the people as if the people are the enemy. Instead of a government being the protector of its people, it becomes the usurper of the people's livelihood and heritage. We all shake our heads at what we've witnessed these past few years around our world. Courage and safety to everyone to carry on in spite of what we see around us. Good must triumph at some point. Cheers anyway to you Scott and to everyone in this universe of all that is good about our hobby and interests...the CWM Universe of good people of like minds and hearts. 🙏👍👍

I'm so sorry to hear about Laura's problems. It's so ridiculous that politicians will proclaim they are on the side of the farmers and then turn around and screw them over like this.
I would say that expropriating the land for one purpose and then changing it is (or should be) illegal. One wonders what kind of "incentive" the local government had to change their plans...

I was sorry to hear Laura and Colin are getting treated so shabbily by the county. Sadly, unsurprised. I enjoyed the 8 millimetre film, well done! Watching the nailhead being put together reminded me of auto shop in high school, 1971 (Christ, I"m old). And I really enjoyed the animations. As well, seeing the progress made on the classic Continental was encouraging. Good work, Jim and you guys! Cheers.
