    When I was in Afghanistan, the sunsets were amazing. At nights you could get bored counting stars because there were so many.
    It's a beautiful world.

    Really helpful tutorial. Been flight simming for decades but with MSFS it seems time to really get hold of the basics and not just use GPS.

    Your videos are equally amazing as your voice is.
    Thank you so much!

    You will not believe me but I am from Krasnodar now living in Australia though where NDBs are still widely used . I am studying to get my night VFR rating and for that it is a requirement to demonstrate navigation with radio aids here in Australia. I have no idea why you have chosen this part of the world for this tutorial but is very good. And yes it is still a requirement to use E6B for your calculation for navigation flight here.

    What I always did: instead of following your heading into the NDB, you must keep the ADF needle pointing into the course you want to fly, making changes to your heading as necessary.

    This was super helpful! I was wondering what website you recommend for making flight plans/finding airport diagrams/or even aircraft manuals? Heck, maybe even make a video about if you're interested

    Hi P Gatcomb, I really like your videos. Do you think you can explain the Bonanza or Baron a bit. I really enjoy flying the TBM, but have a hard time with the Bonanza. I can't seem to get it to cruise correctly. I think my understanding of the prop vs manifold pressure is lacking.

    Pretty sure I won't use it but I watched the whole thing. Btw, you don't have to look out the window just for us, we understand why you have the clouds on low XD.

    Sadly that website relies on Adobe Flash that is typically blocked these days and will no longer be supported in Windows moving forward

      Yes I found I couldn't get it to work in Firefox or Chrome but it does work in Edge. On his 'About' page Luiz is saying it is too hard to rewrite to not use Flash so the website will probably only work until Dec 2020.

    Can you navigate using NDB in any aircraft in FS2020 ? Excellent video, truly enjoyed watching it. I’ll have a go too !

    I was just trying to look up this information last night. Was trying to fly around northern Canada in FS2020, and VORs aren't very common up there.

  • @moonasha
    @moonasha 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    why would you use ADF if you have access to GPS? or are they supposed to supplement each other?

    • @FinsaneLorist
      @FinsaneLorist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You can use it as a backup (GPS breaks down?), or if you don't have a GPS, maybe when you're flying Cessna 152?

    Help needed, found a NDB with decimal point, like 337.5 can’t tune in with Garmin 530/430. What to do ? Airport NTTM if you want to look, NDS approach

    Great video. What are the dots and dashes in the NDB identifier for? I assume they are morse code but how is this used by the pilot?

    • @DustyWall
      @DustyWall 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think it's mainly to positively identify the station you have tuned in.

    • @FinsaneLorist
      @FinsaneLorist 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@DustyWall Yes, you listen to the morse beep bips to identify the correct station. Like with lightstations at sea (but with light)

    • @thecorporatepilotdad
      @thecorporatepilotdad 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yep it's for identification and the ident (morse code) has to be left on in the background audio. There is not a TO FROM flag like a VOR has. If the signal goes out the only way you'll know is if the morse code quits playing. These are best for listening to AM radio stations in real life.

      @@thecorporatepilotdad Many years ago I knew an instructor who tuned it to the BBC station broadcasting the cricket commentary when we were close enough to their masts at Droitwich :-)
