    7 years later and the rust made this 7 times tougher. Rip to any of you poor souls attempting this on an 09. I had to go around the back where the backing plate connects to the knuckle and hammer a screwdriver all around it. If you do it like in the video with the hammers you can risk breaking your parking brake shoe or bend the backing plate (that's what my stupid self did). I ruined a couple screwdrivers but eventually popped em off.

    This video was an excellent reference tool. Just used it to assist me when I changed the rear Hub/Brgs on a 2005 Chevy Impala. My only comment is that the torque for the (4) hub bolts was only shown at 40-50ft/lbs. They seemed really loose yet at that setting. updates??

    Will this clear ABS and traction control sensors ? Took it to AutoZone and ABS code was C0035 but I also have a service braking assist message on . I’m so frustrated 😞

    • @billylee3910
      @billylee3910 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you replace the hub assembly it should clear those codes. If not, you may have a break in one of the two wires for the wheel speed sensor, which plugs into the hub. These impalas are notorious for wire breaks/frayed insulation on the above mentioned wires, especially the front. I have had breaks and frays on both side fronts of my 2011. If you have problems with the front hubs/wiring, you will get the bonus "Stabilitrac" code 😁.

    • @Sawyer392

      The wiring will get weak and break the wire due to flexing near the hub (you may not be able to see this due to the coating on the wire. I replaced the plug connection and 18" of wiring and it was the cure on a 09 impala. Mistakenly also replaced the axle hub first and threw out a perfectly good part.

    Do you by chance have any tips for determining which rear bearing is bad? I jacked it up and spun the wheels by hand, but I am not hearing anything when spinning by hand, except for the brakes dragging the rotor. Tried having my wife drive past me. She could hear the noise from inside the car, but I couldn't hear anything outside the car. I definitely know it's the rear making noise, since I've already wasted a crap ton of money replacing both fronts. I don't want to have to replace both rears because I screwed up again and replaced the wrong one again.
    Oh and there is no movement in the bearing when I wiggle it.
    Thanks for any help or advice you can give.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +bkpickell Typically to test a wheel bearing, you would grab the top and bottom of the tire (while it's lifted off of the ground), then try to move the wheel back and forth to see if there's play in it. If there is, then the wheel bearing is likely bad or is going bad. Hope this helps you out. We carry new hub assemblies on our website 1aauto.com

    • @artpoole8208
      @artpoole8208 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jack the car up and with the tire and everything still mounted. Put your hands on the top of the tire and try pulling towards you and pushing away from you. If there's ANY PLAY that's the one. If no play, perhaps it's just your rotor

    Getting this assembly off (the part where you have to hit it with a hammer) is seriously difficult. Is it really supposed to be this hard? I almost feel as though it's welded on! Is there any possibility there's a slight difference in a 2011 Impala LT where there's some extra bolt I'm missing or something? Or do I just need to really hit it hard and hope I don't break something?

    • @aviation_nut
      @aviation_nut 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Never mind. I finally got it off. Just took some 50 good wacks with the hammer, producing rusty dust all over the place. One thing to note was the parts didn't have the ring and spring assembly for the e-brake. 2011 Impala LTs must have a different setup or something. Just a heads up for those of you who are looking to do this. I was actually relieved, since that part looked like the most complicated of this whole process.
