Great review guys. Thanks for the tip that we may be able to find the older 12 yr bottles on dusty shelves in other countries. It always pays to check out liquor stores wherever you go, even in the states.
Maybe consider doing a review on some of the whiskeys you go over in all these drinkthroughs. id like detailed info on some of the nikkas and what not :o
One thing that's great about ECBP is that it drinks below its proof, or at least that's the experience I've had with the C920. That batch was very easy to drink, especially compared to my Four Roses store picks. Those picks are around the same proof, and they're great, but they're definitely a good amount hotter than the C920.
Love these drink throughs, you guys should maybe try and do a michters one, I think you guys have some of the bottles and they definitely are one a lot of people’s radar
Great drink through! Love EC, haven’t had the 18 yet. The barrel proof is always worth the $60! Glad I spotted the video, my notifications got turned off. Cheers fellas! 🥃👍🇺🇸
Elijah Craig.. yes.. delicious, even though I can only get the regular small batch. As for the gaseous expresssion... obviously Jules issued the bomb that gagged Dutch as you can smell your own, but not anothers... it is the rule of gas.
Great video guys, really enjoy the drink throughs. I hope you guys are able to do one with Bardstown and Weller. Also, Anaconda is a great film...go 90s
I hear you guys on getting burnt out on ECBP, but the B520 is on another level for me. It’s no where near as hot as the others and brings an all around better experience imo. And I looove the high proof stuff as well
So true! I feel like c920 would've been the best expression of Elijah Craig I've ever had, if it wasn't for b520. B520 even beats my most recent George stagg and even stagg jr batch 12! B520 is a monster bottle!
Surprised you guys didn't add a few single barrels store picks. I have way too many and they vary wildly from 8-12 years. The 12y SiB are hard to find but amazing value.
I have tasted the 18 twice and agree, both pours were on the down ward slope for aged bourbon, over-oaked or on the way to being over-oaked. It's too bad EC does not release a 15 or 16 YR. That might be the real sweet spot. I am very curious what that would be like. Also, if you have not tried one, look for the base EC, as a store pick. A lot of these are really close to the old 12 YR.
Would have loved to see you guys blend the NAS with just a bit of the ECBP and see if you can approximate the EC12. Maybe a new feature for you guys... "Curiosity Public - BlendingLab"
Another good Drinkthrough. I missed the 18 this year, but stocked up on the "B" release of the Barrel Proof. Have you tried to add water and dilute the Barrel Proof down to 94 to duplicate the old 12 year old?
Just found this one, I am a huge Elijah Craig fan since I first tasted it about 9 years ago. Thx for the great video, tell Dillon to take one of his bottles with him when he comes to The Netherlands lol
How much do you have to spend through the year to grease the wheels of a store to get Barrel Proof and like bottles often? It seems like a lot of brown nosing and it may be worth it but I'm always curious what people mean when they say they "frequent" somewhere often. Does that mean they go 1-2x/week and buy something at least time? Buying one bottle from a store per month?
Really depends on the store! I've had experience at some places, just going in once a month to buy something and chat with the store owner - and that was enough for the owners to be willing to hold a bottle for me. With chain stores, it is more about timing, and just figuring out when they get their shipments - usually you can just ask them, and they'll tell you.
@@CuriosityPublic right on, thank you so much for the feedback. That's about what I figured and I do the same, chat with the owner or spirits buyer and listen to them and try to take their recommendations so they are heard and respected. But I guess I never really ask them to hold something because certain stores only get some things. How do you ask or what do you ask?
Like "hey do you guys get EC Barrel Proof and would you hold some for me?" or "what allocated/special bottles do you get and can you hold some for me?"
@@ajcolaizzi3553 Yeah - you kind of have to read the relationship - some owners will just offer to hold it, others you may have to ask - and others still won't even consider it. If they get to know you - just asking - "when will you get ____ in?" "Any chance you'd hold one for me?" Or something like that. Good luck!
@@CuriosityPublic that's a great way to think of it rather than them all being the same. Thanks for letting me come to your TED Talk and enlightening me today. Thank you much, hoping to get my hands on a bottle of EC Barrel Proof soonish.
I sadly only ever had one 12yr bottle, the last one on the shelf of a store I randomly went into 5 years ago. The empty bottle is proudly displayed. I'm not a huge fan of the BP I have (C919) but maybe I could just proof it down and see what happens. The best thing I've had from EC recently is a 9yr store pick.
E.C. 12 yr. ...Down in the basement tucked away amongst the assortment of jelly jars. Cork pop sounded like the squeaky coffin hinge in a horror movie.
Found one for 79.99. But Thanks to you guys, I didn't buy it and kept searching for it. Unfortunately, before I left the country, I was not able to find one for a better price. ㅠㅠ someday...
There are a few grocery stores in Southern California that has it for that price. If you search, you can find it. It comes out 3 times a year in pretty good amounts so I’m sure you’ll be successful when you get back. Happy hunting.
Dear guys of Curiousity Public. I can buy the 'original' Elijah Craig 12 years old for around 55 euros a bottle. Good deal to stock up? Thank you in advance and keep up the amazing content. Very happy to support you guys!
Definitely a good price to try a bottle of you haven't had it before. As far as stocking up - will really depend on your preferences! If you like the oak hit, it may be a good one for you. Seeing as it is not really available any more in the States, I would at least grab a backup!
Yesss thanks for the video!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
All of the 2020 Elijah Craig barrel proof bottles are great. They killed it this year.
Fun drinkthrough. Thanks!
Video of the year. 100% truth about these. Fine job guys.
Great walk thru
I’m keeping an eye out for that barrel proof now. Sounds really good.
I have the C920 batch of the barrel proof and it's amazing!! Won a blind I did with that, Stagg Jr batch 14, 1792 FP, and WT Rare Breed.
I love the old school bourbon only videos. I really enjoy these. Keep it up guys!
Great video!
I have not stopped buying it ;) Nice show, thx. Cheers
Any way we can get a live reaction from Dutch on the Madalorian season finale? I really would love to see that, also great job on the drinkthrough TM.
Great review guys. Thanks for the tip that we may be able to find the older 12 yr bottles on dusty shelves in other countries. It always pays to check out liquor stores wherever you go, even in the states.
Great episode!
The best part of 2020 has been the ECBP releases... the B520 and C920 are some of the best ECBPs I’ve had
Jules reinforces the need for social distancing

This video is an early Christmas present!! You Guys are the best. Please keep up the excellent work. Love love your bourbon videos and drinkthroughs!!
Really enjoy the drink throughs.
I picked up the toasted barrel recently and have been enjoying it immensely. Cheers!

C919 is still the best one I've had!
You must try the C920!
Great review! Hard to beat ECBP at MSRP. Best value for a decently available barrel proof with JD SBBP, Stagg Jr, and Knob Creek Sib.
Great drink through! Love EC, haven’t had the 18 yet. The barrel proof is always worth the $60! Glad I spotted the video, my notifications got turned off. Cheers fellas! 🥃👍🇺🇸
Loved it. I wonder if you watered down the 12 year barrel proof if it would hold up to the old 12 year.
It seems like Dutch’s nose has been fixed since the Guild days 🤣

The B520 is amazing. For some reason the A120 just seemed too hot & overpowered the flavor for me.

I have a question for each of you, what is your favorite barrel proof version?

I have lived in Prague for the past 4 years, normal price for the Elijah 12 year is 860czk, or ~39usd. Worth it!
This is an excellent vlog. The ECBP is an excellent bargain and I also try and grab at least one when I see it at MSRP.
I love the Elijah Craig barrel proof. Really enjoyed the video.

Not yet - will have to give it a try - but I know Dillon won't approve!
0:57 Jules looked like Rodney Dangerfield in Caddyshack. "Did somebody step on a DUCK?!?" LOL

Drinking c918 love it splash of water wonderful cannot get toasted barrel in London now but on wish list good work chaps
Wtf on that opening! The one time I actually side with Dillon.

There is a 2020 Elijah Craig 18 at a local liquor store for $149.99, is it worth the buy?
That's a great price for it. If you like oaky whiskey, then yes!
@@CuriosityPublic Thanks! I have been torn between it and the Knob Creek 15.
@@younglaw81 Cheers! I think the Knob 15 is a little more approachable - you really have to like oak to love the Elijah 18.
Wow. That is a good price.

Oddly enough, I was sitting here sipping a glass of the EC Barrel Proof when I came across this video.
Toasted Barrel is awesome

Where is the butcher of Bakersfield?
sad, Elijah Craig Barrel Proof is 85 here in MT........ and you can only get 1 per week..... you have to put your name, show license..... its crazy.
Dillon is the MAN!!!!!
Neat is how I drink it always!!!
Lol
Jules shitting his pants in solidarity lmao
Nothing like a good fart
Or two!
Just for reference I just bought one in 2024 for $150 at auction
3 of the best perverts you'll ever meet. Keep up the good work guys!
Whatever happened to the Guild?
Doing a little bit of tootin?
Why do people have to act like idiots when they do these videos? I couldn't take more than 4 minutes.
