    Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
    The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
    Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and TH-cam sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 TH-cam subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

      Exactly - they mentioned beer a few times (which my GP said drink one every day), but never told us whether it's good or bad for kidney stones. Can one of you answer that since you never did?

      @@glendagreen8584 beer is bad because of the alcohol in it.Also it will not help pass a kidney stone, that is a myth

    Too bad beats are probably because I have high blood pressure and I was told to have some beet orbeet juice.
    I am taking two beetroot capsules. I hope that’s small enough. .

    When you said limit juice, doesn’t it mean the juice from the box or including homemade fresh juice? Thank you

    Hi Melanie, are you aware that recent studies show a link between high fructose and uric acid. So choosing low fructose fruit is a better option if you have uric acid

    • @thekidneydietitian
      @thekidneydietitian 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello! I'm definitely aware of this connection. There isn't any data to show that fruit itself is linked to uric acid stones, gout or kidney stones. High fructose corn syrup and sweetened drinks certainly are! I never recommend restricting actual fruit (or veggies for that matter!) for uric acid stones.

    You are not suppose to take calcium supplements. Get your calcium in food. This video does not make that clear- which is dangerous. Big difference.

    I have been told by all my doctors to increase my sodium due to extremely low blood pressure 89/58 and low sodium in my body. However I do not want to pass another kidney stone so I keep my sodium intake low. I do not like the taste of salt so it is easy for me. What is your take on this?
    I eat a nutrient dense vegan diet and ate too many of the super foods that caused my kidney stone. Too much of anything is not good, buy everything I was eating helped in the healing process of a TBI. Fix one thing and cause another one.
