    Those socks are adorable! Love the variegated yarn with the red heels, cuffs and toes. My first pair of socks was a cuff down pair and I ran out of yarn. GRRR! So I decided that toe up was the way to go. I also chose the Trusty Toe-up Socks by Tanis Lavalee and had the same issue with the heel. They were just a little difficult to get on. For my second pair of toe up socks I used the Vanilla Socks by Jo Torr. Wow! That pattern was so wonderful! She explained every step very clearly and I was thrilled with the finished product. Very easy to get over my heel. This was a free pattern on Ravelry. I just finished my second pair with this pattern and it turned out even better. She also has many other sock patterns that I would like to try. Keep up the good work! Your knitting is beautiful!

      Thank you so much for sharing! Oh I'll need to check out Jo Torr's pattern! I also find that a heel flap and gusset constructions fits my heel pretty nicely. Glad you found a pattern that works for you!!

    Amazing episode ! I adore the socks, I think the grey is so fun with the red. Also what I love about your podcast is your yarn choices and substitutions, you always seem to use interesting ones! Can't wait to see how different this casia turns out compared to your first one. And you're right, this KFO colour might not be best, but an olive or a rust would look gorgeous on you! good thing you swatched :P

    Maybe you already know, but the shadowwrap heel from Denise of Earthtonesgirl is very easy and worth a try 😊

      Thank you! I had seen her video on that but I haven't actually tried it yet, I'm interested to see how that compares to the fish lips kiss for sure!

    Love love love your Oslo sweater! It suits you so well 😊 I’m thinking I may have to start knitting socks toe up. Regardless of how stretchy and loose I cast on I always have trouble getting them over my ankles. I’ll have to try the super stretchy cast off like you recommend. Can’t wait for your next video! I’m hooked on your content! ❤

      Aw thanks so much Svenja! That means a lot, I love watching your podcast :) This video had all those blue and gray cool toned WIPS I was talking about 😂 Yes I like the jenny's surprisingly stretchy bind off a lot! I think it's worth a try!

    I know what you mean about too many big projects stressing you out. I am the same and yet I also have multiple garments on the needles right now!

      Haha it's hard to resist the itch to cast on something else! I don't like to have unfinished business, so it alternates between cast-on-itis and wow I gotta clear my needles!

    It may be possible to try the traveling loop method instead of magic loop for your twisted loop top! I find it less annoying than magic loop but for certain circumferences, magic loop is easier (wow I said loop a lot there lol)

      Hi Stephanie! Oh thank you for the suggestion! I just watched a video on how to do travelling loop - I'm excited to try it!!

    I'm a hand dyed. You want the variation in tones so your eye sees light and shadow. Hand dyed yarn has a great depth to it. At least that's what many if us dye for.

      Thank you for sharing, Nancy! That's so cool that you are a hand dyer. The hand dyed yarn world is new to me, and I'm excited to explore how garments knit up different in hand dyed yarn!

    I can totally relate to your experience with helical knitting. I just alternated skeins for the first time and it threw off my BOR when making a ruffle for the sleeve, so time to frog that section! Otherwise I am inspired by all of your WiPS, and want to swatch a new one for myself this weekend!! Thanks for your podcast!!😊

    • @tangerineknits
      @tangerineknits  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Aw thank you Portia! I'm so glad to hear that! What are you planning for your swatch?
      Haha yeah, helical knitting is pretty genius, but there are definitely some watch outs for the uninitiated like myself - I am curious to learn about techniques to maintain a pattern when helical knitting - I'm sure there are ways, maybe I'll look into that next!

    • @joanarnold82
      @joanarnold82 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey, your BOR shouldn't move when working switching skeins in helical knitting. And there is no "seam" either. Not like what happens when switching at the BOR. I always use helical knitting when use hand dyed, and it is never like how you describe.

    Thanks for another lovely episode. The Oslo sweater is perfect on you. @Knitflitter also makes a really nice saddle shoulder pattern - the Office sweater - if you want to try another pattern at some point. It is - I think - in a thinner fabric than the Terrazzo😃

    Really enjoyed your conversation about your Oslo sweater as I am also knitting one and have recently finished picking up for the neckline. I picked up at at least 10 stitches fewer than the pattern stated and it turned out fabulous. In talking about your gauge swatching you mentioned another sweater you looked at for the alpaca yarn. Can you tell me the name of the pattern? The picture was a beautiful shade of deep orange. I am also searching for a pattern and really liked the look of that one.

      Hi Patti! Aw thank you, I'm glad to hear that! Ah, unfortunately that is just a commercial cardigan I saw as inspiration, and and it is not a pattern. However the Luz Cardigan by Emilie Luis looks pretty similar to that! Perhaps that is worth checking out!
