Xbox 360 2005 Launch Team Special Edition Console Bundle

- Here is a very rare console bundle given to Microsoft employees which were directly involved with the development of the Xbox 360 console. The console was given with 1 controller, 20gb HDD with matching green accent. The console was never sold and there are conflicting reports of how many were produced, some say 60 total, others have estimated more and some say less.

Getting a 2005 Xbox 360 is hard, let alone a special launch team edition this thing looks awesome.
I wish they made the green theme standard, makes the console feel more alive.
I just saw the original Xbox, Xbox 360, and the Xbox one launch team editions and they're all so awesome Xbox is the best forget the rest :D

55%? That's a very generous number. More like 85%. The other 15% had issues with disc drive errors, considering also a 50% failure rate of 20gb HDD from launch with the infamous E68 error. Let's all just hope that those who subscribe to a hopeful future of the new Xbox One are correct in their beliefs.

I just picked up a Xenon recently for $10 that was serviced in 2011 and has a Lite-On drive, which I thought was interesting. BTW, if you're still on TH-cam, I'd love to see detailed videos on the phat XDKs you own. Just ordered my first.
$1000 for console and box only. Controller, hdd, remote and special faceplate were all bought separately. Total cost was just under $2000.

This one and one other I sold on ebay, the third one I have had was bought locally from a game consignment store.
It can, this one did at one point before my ownership. The rear decal states "Service Date" not mfg date, so yeah they can and it is very sad when they do. Now a dev kit..... You don't see that very often RROD-ing.
Yes. This is a retail console which can play retail game discs. It's not been updated in some time so it would need an update to play say GTA V.
Well ebay would be my first place to point you toward. I live in Washington, not far from Redmond, so weird and rare Xbox items float through consignment shops and second hand stores like GoodWill ect. People from time to time sell these off on ebay, but as you can imagine they go fast and for a lot. Parts like the controller or hdd come up occasionally. Finding the faceplate is a good start.
I only collect the original Xbox consoles, but the Launch 360 would be one of the few special edition Xbox 360s I would buy.
I have one of those face plates... Could you give me any info like how do know if it's genuine, and if it's worth anything? I only have the face plate.

Are the grills painted green or are they molded green plastic? Info is terribly scarce. I've been trying to contact you through a couple different sites to get info on this console...hopefully this works.

DOes it worth it? I never had any Xbox, but usually I have limited editions so I wanted to buy all the launch teams Xbox (I saw Xbox original has one also, and of course X1 has one). but since this doesnt have Wifi? and HDMI, does it worth it? 1080i is very different from 1080p?
Not too much difference in resolution between 1080i and 1080p. But for collectability, yes it's worth it. For practical use, not really. If you're intention is to buy a console to use, stick with a Xbox 360 Slim E or S.
Even XB1 doesn't have much more bells and whistles as of yet. Not many apps, limited XBL Games, much less customization as far as dashboard is concerned as we all thought. For those who do not have one, think a windows 8 pc mixed with a 360 minus extent of games and a blu-ray player tossed in. That's XB1.
Yes I know but eventually I will buy one for exclusive games... But I am between Orta and Xbox Launch Team for Xbox original. This one, Xbox Gears of War or Xbox 10 anniversary (for X360) and X1 only launch team, I dont like the black one...
I mean because it will be really cool if all my three consoles are the launch team edition (and I buy the other that I like the most? the Orta and the Gears of War/anniversry?) dunno hahaha
Surgeon, do you happen to have a spare Launch HDD or know where to get one? I have the console and controller. Owner removed the HDD though :(
I do not, sorry. I actually pieced this one together, already having my HDD, and placed it with this console I bought which did not have it's HDD. With developer's gamertags on the HDD, it's typical they've had the chrome plate removed if not entirely missing.

That's what I believe happened with mine as well. The owner took down the HDD for the gamertag... sigh. The search continues.

Nope. I use it rarely anyhow. But it was sent in to Microsoft in 2009 by the original owner, one before me, for RROD. But has been running fine since.
If you ever get another one,iam looking for one haha.

Technically it's a specially built Platinum Pro. Had this not been accented with green, it would have been the metallic finish accents, 20GB HDD and a remote included. It was the more expensive of the two at launch. However since this was a very limited edition given to employees, it was free to the original owner. Much like the white Xbox One employees are selling off on ebay now for $1500-$3000.
Its just the shell thats rare itself. Xenon motherboards suck for JTAGs.

Hey man Next time you get an Xbox launch team please console let me know i have been doing my research for a friend of mine who is. well not doing good we will put it that way. He has talked about these green and white launch xbox 360's since we were younger and xbox 360 was first coming out. I Myself dont know much about all this type of stuff but he dose. So next time you get one to sell please let me know i would love to surprise him. Thank you.

It's because they all had to use a lead free solder for the CPU and GPU, inevitably it WILL fracture due to being powered on and off too much, leading to the red ring of death.
