Underrated how, It was a hit single in many countries and the album it came off of with his name on it was also a hit.................I heard this song on absolute radio 3 weeks ago
This song still gives me chills with the haunting sound. Robbie Nevil, Dead or Alive, and Murray Head "One night in Bangkok" always sounded so damn good and had some of the same sounds like with this tune! :-) Robbie could flat sing!!! He still writes and produces music for other artists.
Great follow-up to "C'est la Vie" and I think a better song in many ways, extremely well-produced, very thickly layered. You try singing that chorus sometime... Thanks for posting.
I remember listening to this on Radio 1, David Kid Jensen doing the top 40 on a Sunday afternoon in 1987, I remember this and Mirage's Jack Mix 2 so vividly!
Serious classic from 1987, remember this very, very well! Remember recording it off David 'Kid' Jenson chart show on a Sunday afternoon in 1987 and still have the tape!
great song!I loved that so much & still so I do.I used to play it on my taperecorder even 10 times a day when I was aged about 12 or 13.Thanx for uploading.
This is not an idle comment, because I met Gino Vanelli when he first came to Ontario to audition for an agent. I bought Robbie Nevils' cassette as soon as I heard him on the radio... and if he and Gino ever got together...
Robbie, I remember when you took a break from working at Marjan's Restaurant in Brentwood with my husband -and the "Beach Fellowship on Sundays"- to play your guitar and sing to me for the first time on the bluff's of Santa Monica. You were maybe 18-19!!!! The music you wrote in your teens was better than anything on radio at the time. I knew you were unique, mega talented, and would be very successful. I played this cassette till it broke back in the day. Still want you to sing for God!!
"Soldiers of fortune surrender like children and follow wherever she leads/And they all fall down . . . ." Truer words were never sung/spoken. This is my absolute favorite Robbie Nevil jam! This song touched my spirit, as it did many of us in the hood. I aspire to be like Mr. Nevil insofar as he has made far more money behind the scenes versus being in the spotlight. I only say this because of my age. Viva la 80's!
This song is awesome! I never heard it on the radio in the mid late 80s for some reason, it also has an excellent extended version thats really great as well!
I absolutely love this song and video...Robbie has this "Jim Morrison" thing about him ( with extra hair) and the enthusiastic girls are just perfect with the vocals!
I had forgotten how good this album was, til i heard it again you, ll never ever i mean ever hear music as great as this again and the music of this century is living proof of that
Heard this today on Marathon Radio chart from May 1987, I had completely forgotten about this song & can honestly say I hadn’t heard it since 1987. Great tune
I remember when this song was on Americas Top 40 with Casey Kasem on March 30th 1987. 92Q WRQC played it, another great tune seldomly played GREAT TUNE 👍🎵
I've been hoping this video would be up here! Waited a long time for this one! This song rocks and the chorus line is so catchy! Robbie's best and most powerful song! Thanks so much for putting it up!!
Heard this on an 80s radio station a few days ago. Really like this song and forgot just how good it is. Though radio played the hell out of "Wot's it to ya" & "C'est La Vie" I always thought this was a better song with an awesome hook.
I just heard this for the first time. It's 2019. That's a MAJOR crime. This song should have been huge back in the day. I shouldn't just be hearing it now. (Meanwhile, thanks for posting.)
Never mind him being good looking in his hair! He made 3 wonderful albums. Period! I am (curently) looking him up to see what he is up to right now. (I am patheticly late, I know). But he had got something good going on with his songs and songwriting. Don't You agree!? Sweden
He is working as a successful Music Producer for other Music Artists, and He has created the Music for 'High School Musical' as well as 'Hannah Montana'.
Robbie nevils 1986 debut is an 80s classic full of excellent songwriting and full of soul and funk to me reminiscent of Sly and the family Stone this is just my thoughts
This has to be one of the most underrated songs of the entire eighties.
Underrated how, It was a hit single in many countries and the album it came off of with his name on it was also a hit.................I heard this song on absolute radio 3 weeks ago
Underrated here in the U.S. , it only went to # 14 in 1987 and none of the retro 1980's stations play it today. Never heard of absolute radio...
Absolutely
agreed!
Definitely, compared to "C'est La Vie" and "What's It To Ya."
Love the song...love Robbies voice...so jealous of that hair..this is one of the BEST SONGS of the 80's!!
And he still has it, and he still fine as ever!
Love this song!! ❤ his voice is amazing! And that hair is gorgeous! ❤😊
This never gets played on 80’s radio station. So many are missing out on a great song
Only hit #14- craziness but 1987 was one of the best years for music too many good songs
jhrrussell2-Only hit #14 you say-Well it was a big hit so who cares...You make it sound like it got to number 42 in the Billboard hot 100
@@mikekaraokeI think he’s saying it it should have been a top three smash hit…as it should have been 😊
Love this song, one of the best of the 80's
One of the greatest songs i have ever heard.A true, genuine classic which will stand the test of time.
jesss i like the bass and nevils singing
This song still gives me chills with the haunting sound. Robbie Nevil, Dead or Alive, and Murray Head "One night in Bangkok" always sounded so damn good and had some of the same sounds like with this tune! :-) Robbie could flat sing!!! He still writes and produces music for other artists.
Yeah, he did good with all that music he wrote for HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL (Disney)

Great follow-up to "C'est la Vie" and I think a better song in many ways, extremely well-produced, very thickly layered. You try singing that chorus sometime...
Thanks for posting.
Robbie's Background Vocalists always made his songs extra-special.
I was nuts about Robbie Nevil and his great music. Still love him... and the 80s did rock.
His best track IMO.
Yes! Better than C'est La Vie for sure.
Robbie's debut cassette is one of my favorite cassettes of the 80s. Now I'll have to dig it out of my artifacts & listen to it.
I remember listening to this on Radio 1, David Kid Jensen doing the top 40 on a Sunday afternoon in 1987, I remember this and Mirage's Jack Mix 2 so vividly!
It was definitely one those underrated songs of the 80s!!! Love the back up girls!! 😊

The chorus has always stuck in my head for years!!!the other night I finally found the name of this song.
Still listening into 2023. I still have the cassette album.
Great song from the 80's!
The amazing sound is due to
RNevil's great voice, songs
AND production by Alex Sadkin who made this a perfect album.
Excellent song.
Mark O'Reilly ....YES ❤️❤️
I Loved and Still Love This Song!
Good song. The video is the reason it wasn't more popular.
Robbie hit #14 in Billboard, 4-25-87. God bless ya, for postin' it. Thanx! Have a great week!
Serious classic from 1987, remember this very, very well! Remember recording it off David 'Kid' Jenson chart show on a Sunday afternoon in 1987 and still have the tape!

I always thought Domino’s pizza should have used this in their ads back then,,,,,,hahaha
Im sure the NOID would've nixed that brilliant ad campaign!
Ron Lewis why??
@@im_beta_youre_vhs6048 I was thinking the same thing.
Ron Lewis I know right'! Them and Robbie Nevill would've banked big time those sales sky rocked it😍
It's not too late for that.
My favorite Robbie Nevil song right here!!
Great song. One of the most underated artists of the '80s....if you ask me that is....
Love the bass player !! what a style !!!!!
I do too, but he's far too busy writing and producing for some of today's biggest acts! He has never really been away, just low-key.
such a great time to enjoy real music!
Just like going back to 1987, so classic!
took me a while to find this, cool song
This song is awesome! I never heard it on the radio in the mid late 80s for some reason, it also has an excellent extended version thats really great as well!
So this was the song I remember hearing in Dominoes Pizza commercials way back when. I thought so, but wasn't sure. Great song!
I absolutely love this song and video...Robbie has this "Jim Morrison" thing about him ( with extra hair) and the enthusiastic girls are just perfect with the vocals!

Hello Michelle
How are you doing?
I just heard this for the first time. It's 2019. That's a MAJOR crime. This song should have been huge back in the day. I shouldn't just be hearing it now. (Meanwhile, thanks for posting.)

He made 3 wonderful albums. Period!
I am (curently) looking him up to see what he is up to right now. (I am patheticly late, I know).

He is working as a successful Music Producer for other Music Artists, and He has created the Music for 'High School Musical' as well as 'Hannah Montana'.
I always liked this one the best. Really captured his vocal urgency....wish I had hair that thick now....lol. Did back then.
I love this song better than his first release.
Nice voice & hair.
Amazing artist, used to listen to him a lot back in the days...;D :D :D XXXXXXX
Where has Mr. Nevil gone? It's like he had that one good year,1987, and then he was gone. Mr. Nevil, where art thou?
Robbie is a successful Music Producer for other Music Artists, and He created the Music for 'High School Musical' and 'Hannah Montana'.
So well said, PARACHUTECLUBBED. You hit it all on the head. Alex Sadkin's absence was felt here and beyond.
I love this song. I remember when video shows came on and this one played all the time.
2020 ... still loves the song
I loved this song then and even more NOW!
Robbie nevils 1986 debut is an 80s classic full of excellent songwriting and full of soul and funk to me reminiscent of Sly and the family Stone this is just my thoughts
