I just bought this knife and recieved it from Amazon. I love this knife and so would Jim Bowie if here were alive today. It's made with good steel, light enough to hack your way through the woods all day, and also a perfect combat Bowie just like they had in the old days. I'm glad Cold Steel thinks about the little people. Knife collecting can be an expensive hobby, but if Cold Steel continues to make good quality knives at an affordable price, I will continue to buy more. This is my First Cold Steel knife and I am happy with it.
Lynn-I purchased a Black Bear Bowie Machete last summer as soon as they where available. Love it. It replaced the CS Smatchet machete as my EDC chopper. Keep up the great work!! PS-please start making a functional full thickness gladius. Thanks.
Never owned/used bowie.....this is my first. Took it out for a spin to limb a hackberry tree. I like that its got some heft to it, because it's a capable chopper. Split some dry ash wood....no problem. This is a great trekking machete...the more I use it the more I grow to like it. 😜
Seriously Cold Steel I love your products but I'm dying for a Hand and a Half sword machete. Just give it a steel guard and the fit and finish comparable to the Tactical Katana Machete and I probably would buy one for everyone I know lol
TryNsurviveN - I have an original 12” Bowie machete as well. This Black Bear Machete is superior. Longer by about 2”, thicker by about a millimeter, heavier by several ounces, with a steel overmolded Guard, and a better built sheath. PS-I modified my original 12” Bowie machete by adding a steel D guard and riveted oak slab handle.
@Jonathan Henson I doubt that the blade on that Black Bear Bowie would snap off. It is full Tang and goes all the way through the handle. And it's also 1055 carbon steel which takes one hell of a lot of abuse. One guy on TH-cam did a test and put a Cold Steel Parang machete in a vise and literally bent the blade in half to see if it would break. It did not break, and as a matter of fact it did not even bend the blade out of shape after that. I was blown away.
Modern sword models on machete formate is the future. Make a few more European style ones like hand-and-a-half, messer, etc. I really want one but im unsure if the model im interested in is a thing yet
Just an FYI, Cold Steel has a sale going on and free shipping for the weekend. Just ordered one of these for $20,shipped. Another Cold Steel for my large collection, thanks much Lynn, I'm a big fan.
Love cold Steel products! I have the Boomerang, The Big Bore Blowgun, and I am looking to get a ten shin as soon as I can afford one. Being disabled and usually needed a cane to walk on, this would be perfect.
I just ordered one of these. Looks like it may come in handy. But how's it Stack Up Against The Condor I will soon find out. You just got to love Lynn Thompson he's the best I wish it was more clear and less foggy
I love Cold steel stuff and have like 5 of their blades. This one is weirdly dull and the edge was already damaged when I got it. It sure looks badass though and feel good in the hand. I can't wait to get it outside.
Y'all do real good with your blades.... No doubt! But i focus on y'all's spring steels, personally. I need something that has piercing power and I can pry with at the same time! I took your Chinese war sword machete and modified it into a badass knife through stock removal and it is indestructible!!
There are no genes which directly cause obesity. Lynn Thompson is obese as a direct result of the lifestyle choices he makes. Despite the drug-laced Kool Aid being drunk around here, Lynn Thompson is not a high-level athlete and martial arts master. No amount of scowling into a camera, or slow-motion ninja posing is going to prove he's hard. FFS he goes on canned hunts. Find a better person to idolize.
smokedoubt if you burn more calories than you eat you will loose weight regardless of genetics. If you move and exercise a lot and you don’t loose weight it is because you are eating a lot of calories (as much or more than your are burning.) Genetics can play a role in body type to an extent, but if someone is obese, even if they have a high activity level, you can bet the bank they are eating excessively, both in simple carbohydrates/sugars and total caloric intake, as opposed to a clean diet with healthy fats, protein, fiber, and complex carbohydrates. I am not taking shots a Lynn, I am sure he is very active and strong. I am just saying that, regardless if it’s Roy Nelson, Lynn, or whoever, being overweight does not come from them having a disciplined diet not matter what their genetic makeup is.
Frogtalkin coupled with also eating far more calories than one is burning. Much of which is almost certainly simple carbohydrates/sugars that spike insulin and prevent ketosis resulting in all of that clean fat and protein from the wild game from being used as the clean ideal energy source that it is, but rather being stored because ones body is putting all of its effort into breaking down the starchy carbs that are also being consumed. I am not judging Lynn, no doubt he is still a bad dude. I am just saying that being overweight is a result never being in a caloric deficit and consuming a large portion of ones calories from refined carbs/sugars that result in much of the good fuel like fat and protein being stored as body fat.
I've noticed Cold Steel products are made in Taiwan, what is the difference between Taiwanese made stuff and chinese-made stuff? I thought Cold Steel was an American company but I guess they Outsource? No disrespect I have your guyses baseball bat and I love it I just want to know like what's the difference in quality
They design their products, but I believe they out-source most of the actually manufacturing. Cold Steel's Taiwan partners seem to do a good job from what I have experienced. In most people's mind, Taiwan is usually a step up from China... bonus fact, this Black Bear Machete is made in South Africa.
Love it. Cold steel is doing what no other brand will dare to do.
oxman198 work with Steven Segal???
And make the biggest folding knives on the planet

@Re nato The Black Bear Bowie machete is more lighter than the Smatchet (now not anymore available, on Cold Steel catalogue).

The Best Bowie knife in the world.
Thank you Cold Steel.

They should do a Version similar to the zgb executioner sword. But with a better guard.
MightyKingMonstar What about the tactical wakizashi machete
A band and a half sword would be dope
I've had the original 12" Bowie Machete for about 6 years and love it. Can't wait to learn more about this one.

Just bought one for hiking. Thanks
Great video.
Is this knife a full-grind or a scandi edge?
I love your products. Own many. The new vids are interesting, but I can barely see the knives. Maybe a little side-fill light on shooting day? Thanks.
