    It's a 2003. I've seen a lot of videos where they remove way more than i did. The only thing is the vent pipe is tricky but not to difficult to reinsert. I tried to to remove the side panels and couldn't so i just went for it, and this worked out. You'll have to cut around the floor pad that's over the fuel pump, and don't forget to pour some gas into the bottom of the new fuel pump to prime it. It took me a while to figure that one out. Hope this helps.

    Rule of thumb would be to start the car and see if the pumps pressure still creates a leak BEFORE you start to button everything up. .....I learned that method years ago, the hard way..

    • @ProZacksProjects
      @ProZacksProjects  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That is a good rule of thumb except this was due to filling the tank up. It wasn't leaking when the fuel was below the seal, but once I filled it, the pressure started to push gas out.

    Hi, hope all well. I have Volvo XC90 2010, then fuel gauge less then half, car stops. Fuel pump working ok. Looks something wrong between two fuel tanks. One tank is empty, another is full, but fuel not going to prime tank. Thanks

    BEST VIDEO FOR FUEL PUMP REPLACEMENT
    As far as the ring on the sending unit goes... you can buy tools similar that will get the job done but why? What would I ( 55 yo SWF) do with it after its one use? You can get a loaner tool from Auto Zone. This box dont look like a $90 deposit but... it's just that, a deposit and your money comes back. Thats what I used anyway.
    ALSO...I would have started this video with seats in the normal position and shown how to get plastic covers off and screws from the front. THEN... put seats down and show how to remove plastic covers in the back and take out the screws from the back and then just pull out the seats. You did good showing the wire on the inner seat but why move the seats up and down and up and down?
    BEST VIDEO I HAVE SEEN ON VOLVO.

      @@ProZacksProjects thanks. I had a leak at the top of the pump. Found it with your vid (garage wanted to drop the tank and charge me £500), opened the inspection panel, saw the bottom two quadrants were leaking fuel, dried it all, cleaned it all, poured epoxy into all four quadrants and, before it started moving to the front edge and over slapped a cardboard disc on and weighed it down while it set. Result! Do you know how heavy a Volvo rear seat is? Suffering this morning from strained back muscles but happy to save £500 + VAT! Thank you. My Volvo XC90 is now 19 years old, 182,000 miles American import I’ve had since new. Still love it.

    Hey there. Taking a shot in the dark, have been scouring the internet. Trying to do a DIY repair of the Fuel Pump Driver module, for a 2008 XC90 with 3rd row seats. Would you happen to know the exact location? I believe it is under the 2nd row passenger seat. Thanks!

      I’ve tried to find something as well and nothing that is consistent. I’ve seen it say either in the rear fender wells, near the spare tire, or under the seats there. I have no idea, sorry.

      I do not recall. If I remember correctly, the tank can be mostly full, but I don’t remember exactly where the top of the tank is in relation to the top of the fuel pump and the sending unit.

    • @ProZacksProjects
      @ProZacksProjects  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      From what I’ve read, you can make this tool out of pvc but if you take a hammer and screw driver to it, it’s probably going to break. That’s what some were saying on the forums and it makes sense because it’s really tight.

  • @banksmichaelj
    @banksmichaelj 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Did tightening it help? I replaced the o-ring thinking that could be the problem before I filled it with gas again and when I pulled the access panel back off I saw that it was leaking from the electrical connector on the top. Did you run into the same thing?

    • @ProZacksProjects
      @ProZacksProjects  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Mikee B for me it was just not tight enough. I've seen videos where it's leading around the electrical connector. I'm not sure what a proper fix would be for that. Sorry.

    Here's a tip: when filiming a video showing how to do stuff, actually show what you are doing. watching the back of your shirt or top of your head doesnt really do it.

      There were gas fumes coming into the car because that was slightly leaking. It was minimal tightening but that stopped the fumes from coming in. The car ran fine.
