You must have a22 tooth an a 54 tooth gear ⚙️ s in the xmaxxx try 50 an 21 tooth gears in it !

The larger pinion is for speed on flat surface. Maybe if you had a 18 or even a 17 tooth it would have the torque for the backflip in the sand. Thank you for the vid. Beautiful place to play.

This is some of the best sand dunes bashing I have ever seen,I would love to have a setting like you have there,natural ramps,pavement and sand forever,great comparo and I agree on your analysis,the Xmaxx seems tame in comparison to the Kraton 8s,I own both and the Xmaxx is getting sold now.

do you run your rigs dry? as in none or very little grease or lube? I imagine the sand can damage moving parts?
Factory setup is always good and for sure they are not dry

Great comparison and love your videos and running area that is lucky to have that amazing sand. I have no sand here to run. Would like to try that. I have an Xmaxx but I’m thinking to sell. And get me an EXB 8S Kraton as it seems to suit me more. A bit bigger, faster it seems and choose my setup. Also thanks for your setups, gearing information I’d like to do a similar setup! 👋🇨🇦

You seem to be running almost the same gearing, ESC and motor as I have in my Kraton EXB 8S. But my max5 keeps rebooting by itself whenever I hit full throttle from a standstill. Does your max5 do that as well? I have 30/39 gearing as well. Hobbywing told me that it is because the batteries cannot handle the amp draw. But, I see other people running higher gearing with a max5, with no problem.
to me i had no problem in rebooting and yes MAX5 30/39 Gearing make sure you are using more than 6000MAHS batteries at 100c discharge rate also set the punch level to 1 in the esc with this gearing
@@UAERCADDICTS That may have been the problem. I used cheaper rated Lipos. They are rated 60C. But, I did buy more powerful batteries, rated at 9000mAh 130C. I will try those. And my punch level is at it's highest. I will have to lower it. Thank you for the advice.
@@lexsteel12 yes my dear the punch must be lowest not highest
Also make sure you calibrate the transmitter and receiver. ESCs can be known to cut out if the throttle goes past the "throttle endpoint". Just a suggestion as it could be the issue, maybe not. Still won't hurt to eliminate that possibility.
To do a back flip you need to go up to the jump at about half throttle and then go Full throttle when in the air
a very good tip will try it out
How does the the bearings do with that kind of sand? For me I like the Maxx, the Xmaxx is just too big for me.
They still fine but i do cleaning them every 3 runs using compressed air
I once thought the 1/7 scale UDR was big enough. Then I got into 1/6 scale, then eventually 1/5. The thing I've noticed is that the larger scales on average are much better quality and far more durable than the average smaller scale RCs.

@@UAERCADDICTS No extra parts laying around just yet. I'm new to rc. I have A redcat Everest crawler, Redcat Blackout and Arrma Senton with Monster tires. The Kraton is talking to me much louder that the XMaxx but the Xmaxx seems to be more durable. I think I want handling and speed most at the moment. This video helped push me more towards the Kraton.

Maybe you Need New Tires for the Xmaxx. The Original Tires has Not enought grip in Sand.
Try the Proline badland or the paddle Tires. Also good are the Louise x cyclone.
Then you have much more Fun at your Spot…

sure need to drop different motor mount first because the plastic stock motor mount will not let you fit any other motor than traxxas :)
@@UAERCADDICTS Oh of course... must not use the original mounting system... but it's quite simple to do. You already have the Max 5 esc... which is overkill for the stock motor.
Dude.........You have taken the time to put a big donk in the Kraton, do yourself a favor and put an 800kv 200A motor in the XMAXX and also change the tyres to the traxxas backflips. It will completely change the vehicle for you.
I have 3 Kratons and Two XMAXX's so I am being subjective.

@@UAERCADDICTS I can't remember you doing the test on the tarmac road with the x-maxx (it would have been quick). On the sand the x-maxx comes alive with paddle tyres.
Was the punch also set to the maximum on the esc? As you said the x-maxx is lighter so it can take max punch.
I hear the gearing best suited for mid air backflips is 20/46 according to Woodster & sons RC (I use 18/46)

I didn't realise you were running the (6s x-maxx) 1650kv motor (the 8s is 1275)
If with the 18/54 you only get 30mph on 8s (on a hard smooth surface using the 1650kv motor) then I think something is wrong.
30mph was 15/54 gearing on 6s with the 1650kv motor for the original 6s x-maxx out the box.
Xmaxx punch at 5 the max on the hobby wing , the stock motor and stock motor mount in this vid i fitted 24/48 the which is the max you can do in the xmaxx but compared to the kraton dude xmaxx didn’t make me feel better 🤪
More kv more rpm, more rpm more high speed , i know something is wrong with the xmaxx , alloy motor mount and different motor like 1100 kv will make it much better i feel its lack some power

X-Maxx 6S vs Kraton 8S, Stock motor on X-Maxx, (punch at 5 on the MAX5 of x-maxx (might be better at 10?)), Battery C-Rating the same for both cars? (25C or 100C), Gearing is weird for me because I own the X-Maxx 8S, and you didn't make test on the X-Maxx on the road like the Kraton. Overall, I agree that in your video the Kraton destroy the X-Maxx in terms of power and stability etc, but man... You cannot compare 6S older model to a newer 8S. Also, might not apply to you, but landing a Jump on concrete or anything harder than sand dunes will f**** your Kraton chassis in 2-3 packs. You need aftermarket expensive chassis that will hold the load on the longterm + stronger shocks pins (if they exist). Plastic bend and then comeback like it was, aluminum don't... Keep it up.
This is an 8s xmaxx and both ran exact same 100c 4s x 2 = 8s graphene HRB LIPOS
Yeah but the Kraton has an upgraded motor and the xmaxx dosent. It would be fair comparison if both were stock
$30 piece of aluminum and a drillbit will make a nice center brace to stop the chassis from bending

i do agree traxxas was an amazing rc hobby comp until ARRMA laws suit , then ARRMA all the way bro if Arrma built a 6s car its capable of 8s but traxxas instead of 6s its capable of 4s the drivetrain materials compound arrma win for me dont just bash BLAST :D

On the sand it's better you got torque otherwise your motor will get warm. So smaller gears will help

@@UAERCADDICTS Definitely something wrong with this X-Maxx. Was the temperature sensor plugged into the receiver?
Yes please the sensor attached to the receiver why do this matter if my motor doesn’t overheat ?
@@UAERCADDICTS In the V/T port? When using the Traxxas radio, you will lose power if the temp sensor is unplugged or in the wrong port.
