Thanks for sharing. I think the ₱1000 ($16.97) van ride for six people with a stop at Mang Inasal is already a good deal. Haggling it down to ₱900 ($15.27) to save ₱100 ($1.70) is negligible. That amounts to savings of only ₱16.67 ($0.28) per person. That's in an aircon van instead of on a trike. I don't get it. $1.70 ($0.28 per person) is very insignificant for westerners but very valuable for the locals who are working hard to eke out a living.
I understand. I flip back and fourth. Some folks argue we need to stop overpaying and don't settle for the skin tax. The same ride back was less than 800 Pesos for reference. My stance is if I know how much something costs I'm going to pay that amount. For example I'm not going to pay 1 dollar for water when I know it costs $.50 a block away. I'll walk a block or go without. I see both sides of the argument but lean towards rejecting the skin tax
@@CarefreeChris So how much did you end up paying and what type of vehicle was it that eventually transported the group to the hotel with the same stop at Mang Inasal? The point is that you were willing to pay ₱900 total for six people in a van that would have saved each one a mere $0.28. Was it really worth it to haggle for such a miniscule amount just so you folks could feel good about being able to neutralize the perceived "skin tax?" If you folks are so paranoid about it, then why even live there to begin with?
I’ve been to Panglao a couple of times, I agree it is a great place to go, but I travel a little differently. My group rented a scooter for every 2 people, it gave us more freedom to go to caves, butterfly farms and chocolate hills. We paid 350 pesos the first time and 400 pesos per day per scooter the second time. I don’t know if rates have gone up or our negotiation skills have declined because it seems live any kind of travel is negotiated except the ferries
The problem with renting scooters on Panglao is it takes you an hour to 45 min just to get off the island. It’s not a bad way to go for doing stuff on the island but to go see the chocolate hills or river cruise or a couple of other things I would recommend getting a van for that.
Try ILOILO. Better than Cebu. Has more cultural, heritage, and historical , and religious sites (the National Shrine to Our Lady of the Candles, "Candelaria", is here. Light a candle to her to pray against calamities, i.e. storms, earthquakes, El Niño, La Niña. The Archdiocesan Shrine to Saint Vincent Ferrer is also here, in Leganes, visited by hordes of pilgrims especially on Sundays). ILOILO has more parks, plazas, monuments, riverside Esplanades (which Cebu doesn't have!). Here at the Esplanades by the river you can jog and exercise in clean fresh air surroundings, with nature, right in the middle of the city); more beautiful beautiful well-curated Museums and Art Galleries, more classic European architecture heritage buildings and grand palatial turn-of-the-century European mansions. Cebu's only advantage are its developed beaches. But Iloilo also has its white sand beaches in Gigantes Islands, Sicogon island, Marbuena island, and Guimaras island just 20 minutes away by fast craft boat. And ILOILO's cuisine is marvelous. So clean city, so beautiful city, more clean and beautiful than Cebu. ILOILO CITY is the original Queen City of the South, and the only at present UNESCO CREATIVE CITY OF GASTRONOMY in the PHILIPPINES. Eat at the First and original historic MANG INASAL Store that has spread out to the entire country. MANG INASAL was born in ILOILO, the nationally famous CHICKEN INASAL was born in ILOILO CITY, at the ROBINSON'S PLACE-ILOILO MAIN MALL, at the De Leon Street side , near the Santa Teresita Church. Try also the nationally famous LA PAZ BATCHOY and the delicious PANCIT MOLO. Try the mouthwatering UBE BRAZO DE MERCEDES at the La Paz Bakeshop at the La Paz Public Market, just beside the iconic MADGE'S CAFÈ. Bring home the delicious JD CAFE tiny Square Tarts and little cakes and bars that JD CAFE pioneered and are now imitated even by the famous bake shops in Metro Manila! Bring your bike to ILOILO. Iloilo is the most Bike-Friendly City in the Philippines. You'll be amazed with our exclusive bike lanes and strolling paths by the clean scenic river. Do they have that in Cebu?
Perfect timing for me! Very informative and concise. Is an "overnighter" long enough to see Panglao and Taglibaran or should I stay two days? Thanks, Chris!
Yeah, I can be a little scary for people who are new to the Philippines to venture off and do a trap. Bohol is one of those easy trips with basic information anyone can do.
Normally you can not, since you are not PH citizen. But you can try, if you got a local ID, like the one from the immigration or local drivers license. Some establishments are willing to grant a discount. But it is illegal. Especially from the foreigner, who takes advantage of the situation. Theoretically, this could put you in hot water. Is it worth the couple of pesos saved?
If you have a PH senior citizen’s card, they will input your specific number from your SCC into their log book or their system they are using. Only PH senior citizens, students and people with disability get to receive discounts.
So ya saved 200 lol I thought it was not expensive..it’s a van with 6 persons. Foreigners sometimes think they are getting mega ripped off..it’s sometimes the going rate. It’s what more well to do Filipino would be paying ..just a smidge higher for convenience of jumping straight in the van.
is it a good idea to live in cebu, also when to get away to an island, take a ferry to bohol?
Yes. Cebu City is really convenient

I’ve been to Iloilo and I like it. It’s OK.
Perfect timing for me! Very informative and concise. Is an "overnighter" long enough to see Panglao and Taglibaran or should I stay two days? Thanks, Chris!
I think a couple of nights would be ideal. There's a full touristy day, video coming, and a beach day.
Nice vlogs Chris, appreciate the content! Subbed
Thanks for the sub! Really appreciate it
Hey Chris, Bill Belechik is dating a 24 year old. 😅
Age gap relationships here are pretty common really
That hotel looks nice.
Great value for being so close to the beach. The Alona Beach area can be costly.
Make sure you take the fast ferry, takes 2 hours to get to Tagbiran vs 3 or 4 hours for the slower ferries.
Yes. Exactly. OceanJet fast craft is the way to go
Great vid Chris
Thanks Kevin. You're one of the guys I was thinking of when making this video. See you soon:)
1k total for all 6 of you was already a good rate. You also intend to stall the van with you having lunch first.
Was 600 for the return so…
This feels tailored for me! Logistics is the hardest part and no one ever talks about it! 😂

This was a great video!!! you should do m, more "how to" videos for people planning their 1st trip to the Philippines.
Thank you! Will do!
Getting a taxi looks to be crazy in Bohol. They should have set prices or put a price per kilometer.
Yeah, it’s a little bit of a cluster honestly. You get way overpriced majority of time.
quite the ordeal with getting a ride. It was like that in Naples, Italy. You just have to stick to your guns so you don't get taken to the cleaners.
Yeah, it’s a one area that I’ve noticed it but other than that it’s not too bad
I did this trip last time I was in Cebu. Great time and fun adventures.
It really is!
🙏🏼
:)
Good one Chris. I feel like I'm with you man
lol nice. Maybe soon:)
Thanks Chris just what I was wondering for my Cebu trip😀
Happy to help!
couple more vids to in the works from Boho showing different things to do
thanks for doing this.
My pleasure!
I could psbly sleep on the public area nest sofa... Info content thx
Exactly right. Super comfy.
@@CarefreeChris If I fit with my 5,8 height. I prefer the Aircon bed inside 😂
Is there any difference between the fast cat and the one you took? As about the time
We took the fast cat
What date was this recorded mate?
Maybe a week ago
Actually, two weeks ago
Can foreigners get the senior discount? What is the required age? Alright, hope y'all have fun. Seeya, Chris...Jim
I think they can actually. You just have to have an ID that shows your age. I’m not 100% on that though Jim.

That lady was really trying to charge 1,000 for a van haha. Those people are shameless I tell you.
Yeah and it’s just to much. Our trip back was 800

@@CarefreeChrislol ya kidding right ..how long was the drive ..a good coffee is 250 peso plus
@@Eric-qm5xw She said "only 1000" as a sales tactic. And yes they rip off Filipinos, too. It doesn't justify what they do though.
@@MVTX It’s not out of the way 1000..get a grip ..he did even bargain ..if it’s 800 on the way back ..stop being disingenuous. Are you in the phil’s ?
One of my favorites
Thank you. Couple more coming with this trip
