The handshake you mentioned is we call it
“Mano “ a sign of respect to our elders, uncles, aunties. And you are right about getting up and giving the seats to elder people.
I have never seen that kind of attitudes of younger generations in the US, especially that they are all busy looking with their cellphones.
I remember when I was young, all grandkids have responsibility to visit grandma and help her with household chores during weekends, and spend summer days with her too.

    • @oldschoolliferhere
      @oldschoolliferhere ปีที่แล้ว +2

Yea me too, we respected our Grandparents or we got it from them or ours. Not any more here in the US, they all show up when the Grandparents pass for hand out. That happened to my neighbor where you never saw the Grand kids except Christmas and when they were not home for the kids to use the pool and yea to ran sack the house after the passing for all they could take that they did not deserve! It made me sick to my stomach!!

I think you convinced me on the Philippines. Vlogging will be more of a hobby for me but the amount of exposure you can get compared to Thailand is obvious. Double the population and majority English speaking. The genuine nature of the people is a huge factor also. You would want to keep your senses up like there in the West but I do believe its a great destination for everyone. I would say come check it out. Start with either Cebu City, BGC Manila or Davao City. Spend a couple of weeks and check it out. I think Cebu City is the best place to start and maybe Davao City which I believe was voted safest city in SE Asia.

Because Filipinos are happy people and they value the importance of shame or being ashamed to do something bad or something that can make others feel bad, they are not used to people who shows irritability and anger in public. They also don’t like to be embarrassed in front of a lot of people. They are very sensitive. Once you are talking to the Filipinos and you get angry with them, you have to hold your temper and talk or show your anger to them in private. They can understand if you will be angry because they committed mistakes and it will be easy for them to accept and adjust, just don’t embarrass them in front of other people because most of them will never forget that even when they get old.
Also Filipino's has a low self-esteem and Filipino's don't like debating specially with family's hate confrontation.

I've been both places and I stayed with the widow lady that I'm friends with in Northern Thailand far away from tourist areas. There was no foreigners anywhere around. I will say the Philippines treat you like a rock star in comparison even though Thai people are very nice. I actually enjoy Thailand way more and it was way cleaner and everything operated way better than the Philippines. The only thing I can say that the Philippines is better at is language and the Visa situation

Guys, you must have met the wrong ladies.
Good Filipinas, you meet them at the office, or from friends or friends of friends or social gatherings such as weddings, bdays or wakes.
The aforementioned women are educated and their family members are in the work force, meaning, the family will never or if by chance of crisis, ask financial support from you.
What ladies you had mentioned are those types whereby they live in the slums and their only hope to move vertically is to marry foreigners.
I am a Filipina and it's not fair being stereotyped as one who live thru " free-lunch".
So much so, " that asking for financial support from in-laws" which is seldom the case.
Honestly, I recommend, you befriend a priest and probably, he will recommend the best partners for you, maybe a lawyer, a teacher or doctor.
Know your worth and do not go for less than you deserve.
Go for someone who you can comfortably communicate with, someone who is articulate, who can express their thoughts, in that way, you will be able to live very enjoyably in the Philippines.

When I was growing up I never had thought how culturally Americanised 🇺🇸 I was until I moved to the Middle East to work. Like many other nationalities, Filipinos were there to work and I would resent when I heard ill-talks about America. Until such a point that I asked myself why I was doing this to America when I hadn’t known any American in a personal level.
But now I know that Filipinos have a collective mindset of affinity to America that stemmed back when America gave the Philippines 🇵🇭 an independence and become a one democratic republic in 1946.
The Philippines could have been a vassal state of Japan 🇯🇵 if America didn’t come to save us in WWII.
Filipinos saw America not as an occupier but a saviour and that sense of gratitudes to the Americans have had become in our DNA until today.

They really took care of their elderlies, most of them believe that foreigners have a lot of money. So, if you are the BF or married to them you are a big catch that would help them especially those Filipinos who never went to another country but if u really love and take care of them they will really love you back. Family is the most important to them. If the Filipino man have money enough to support his family he just let his wife to stay at home and take care of the kids and the house or vice versa if both agrees. I like watching and hearing this conversation between two Americans talking about life in the Philippines. The being invisible person living in U.S.A where the rat race is the norm wherever you go in the State. and now being recognized as a human being and as white men. Philippines has its own view of other colors or race but one thing for sure is that the people there are welcoming and very friendly and loving. I'm a Filipino American and my wife, our daughter will be moving there as we will become retirees and plan to live in a affordable country as oppose to U.S.A. where homelessness is out of control. This tells you that the American system has failed the American people who are widely divided between the two sides of Politics. The future here doesn't look good and the love of many has grown cold as the Bible proclaims. Hopefully things will get better for the good. God bless, both of you.

You can always refuse those things as it is not your obligation. No once going to be mad at you, but if they did you know they are in for something. If you're going in for a serious relationship, then a little bit of help to them will definitely bring you closer to the family.

What can be true is her family or rather her parents may live with you will be the most common. The reasons are Taking care of the parents and elderly is THE CUSTOM here. 2nd is while both you and your wife is at work, they can be the one taking care of the children. But then again it can be decided not to. Depends on what personality of families you're trying to get around with. Hook up culture is little non. I totally disagree with this. The family has to learn how to stand on their own 2 feet. They have brothers and sisters old enough to work and or go to school. They are old enough to earn. So why would "YOU" put yourself in a predicament to take care of GROWN FOLKS? That's crazy!!!! If you wouldn't do it in the states with your own family then why would you do it here in the Philippines? I don't support any of my wife's family. I don't give them anything. I did before and all they did was come back for more. I'll be damned if I'm gonna take care of some grown ass man or woman. Sorry can't do it. I wouldn't even do it with my own family in the states. So if I were any of you please think. Think real hard if you are goin to take care of grown people who are CAPABLE of taking care of themselves. Some will take advantage of you and they will say you're the "bad guy". I don't care what they call me. No one gave me anything I had to go out and get it. I worked hard for mine. I lived in the Philippines and everybody ALWAYS misses this HUGE fact, 90% of the Country is Catholic/Christian and if you don't think that has a lot to do with it you need to read up on a dude called Jesus. Thailand is 90% Buddhist, different cultural zeitgeist. Give a Filipino an unexpected gift and they'll thank you like it was Christmas morning. Heck in America you can't even say Merry Christmas without all the vampires having a meltdown.

I was friends with a Filipino and he told me they had a Filipino neighbor who was 75 when ended up marrying a 19 year old Filipina woman. And they ended up having 3 kids. And the gentleman wasn’t exactly rich either but well respected and raised a happy family

Yeah. Age gap relationships are more common here

@@CarefreeChris Locally, it's not really the norm for couples to have a big age difference. You mostly see that happening when young women date foreigners, rich folks, or celebrities. But when it comes to Filipino-Filipino relationships, the age gap isn't as common.
Back in the day (and still to this day for some), people used to frown upon younger women dating much older foreigners. But things have changed now. It's become more common, and a lot of these relationships actually last long-term. So, it's not as looked down upon as it used to be.

I'm 58, very athletic, and decent looking... I'm excited about getting a 30 year old girlfriend/wife... love this video thank you. I have a union crane operating career in Northern California and I plan on working short projects with 6 to 7 days a week and flying to the Phillipines the other 8 months. Do you think that would work out?
