He's only 18 so not that many nights. I view piano technique as more mental blockage than physical blockage. It's not like working out to gain muscle mass. It's truly an intelligence thing

All you need is average intelligence, like most people, and lots of dedication and hard work. Having said that, there are cases where high intelligence helps one achieve greatness on the piano - such is the case with Hamelin, who practices very little these days, and I would bet practiced much less than most Asians as a student. Asians just aren't naturally smart, they just work very hard. Watch one trying to parallel park a car and you know what I mean. It's almost comical.

Not only stunning, technically speaking, but also beautiful, musically speaking, with so many dynamics, all at the right moments and sections. Definitely, knows how to sing, especially in the second section, which is so lyrical, and almost reminiscent of a Schubert song cycle.

And he went beyond the technique, every etudes exuding with such deep emotions with delicacy and power I never knew existed in this piece
