I hate to admit it, but I am a hoarder. At one point I had my backyard 3/4 full with things I got for free, 99% of it was garbage. A friend of mine came once a week and hauled off my garbage until it was all gone. He told me to never do this again which I have not. Then I found Marie Kondo and went through my house letting go of lots of stuff, but I still was a hoarder at heart. I still had too much stuff. I then got some wood for free which I thought was great. I had it on the side of my garage and in my garage. On a whim, I listed it for free and gave away two pickup loads and a bit in a van. I still had some so it went to the dump to be recycled. On Sunday of this week, I went through my fabric stash, pillow stash, & batting. I donated a van load. I was sad after I left the thrift store and until this morning. I felt things had been taken from me. I realized with God's help that I am still a hoarder. Yes, most of the stuff is gone, but there is more that needs to go. I have already started a box for donation and I plan on starting in the kitchen to declutter and will go through the entire house, what is outside of my shed, and my shed. I have purchased lots of things in the past and most of them have been donated. This is a journey that I chose to go on and I know that when all the clutter is gone I may have feelings of loss, but right now I know at that moment I would have won the victory of no longer being a hoarder. With the Good Lord up above I know that I can do it.
Hi Becky! Girl!! You should be so dang proud of yourself! You have really fought through your urges and made change to reduce the hoard and that tskes alot of courage and strength! You are on the right track! Stay Mighty and keep going! Remember through God you will realize that people and time and ENERGY to Live are so much more valuable then things that can break and crowd up our happy space! Keep going! I am praying for you Becky!♡💪🦋🤎
I've never been so proud of a stranger before!!! I'm really rooting for you, just for starting and for all the work you've done so far! Be kind to yourself; it's so hard but remember that you're taking care of future you, and you deserve it.
When you started talking about how colors in your home stress you out, I was like YES. I completely understand that, just never heard anyone else talk about it.
I’d be happy if I could make my whole house Gray but my husband wanted to switch it up a little so my kitchen is Gray & my living room is like a gray brown greige in different lighting it looks different but then he wanted a pop of color in our entryway & I struggled so hard on choosing the color because he wanted blue so it was picking the right shade omg just thinking about it is stressing me out but anyways can also relate
I don't like to many different colors. White , 2-3 shades of gray or natural linen thats pretty much it all through the house, and light color wood or even painted off white furniture.
I'm exactly the opposite. I HAVE to have bright colors in my home... especially in the winter. The brighter the better...like Neon. I have had to create color through things like adding bright, neon cardstock to book covers and hanging colorful garlands up to help combat seasonal depression. I typically dread winter because it's so horribly gray and boring. It's almost as if I crave color the same way i crave food sometimes.
I NEEDED this today!!! I had a whole plan for my entire day and guess what?? I have done nothing! Depression sucks. I am watching this and it is giving me motivation to try again tomorrow.
When I am depressed visual clutter made me feel cozy and validated all my negative thoughts. But it also created anxiety. It took me two years to minimize my house. My all or nothing thinking made it difficult and I had unrealistic expectations. At the end I was amazed by what me and my kids really could live without. And being broke constantly, in the long run I am able to actually save money, have a lil extra even. It's been and still continues to be a journey. But that's what life is anyway.
Yes girl! Yes! All of this plus a bag of chips!!👏👏👏 I can so relate! And the money thing! Its so freeing! I was wasting so much money just to have stuff that makes me anxious anyways!🤦♀️ We live and we learn!! The Journey!💪🦋🤍🙏
Every time I go to my storage unit I get anxiety and ball out crying because all of the memories and reasons I have it ,comes back. I was forced from my home.
I applaud your persistence in working toward your goals. I too suffer from anxiety and agree that a cluttered space elevates my stress. A strategy I use when minimizing and organizing is to pretend that I'm downsizing to move cross country. I critique whether each item is worth hauling with me to my new home. Hope this helps!
Huge job completed there. Well done. Tip for bed linen that really works for me. Put sheets inside the pillowcase for each bed when dried. Makes it so easy to keep the right stuff together
Yup, I used to do that too... Realized that all the bottom sheets were completely torn up, unusable, so had to toss them; (I couldn't even donate them to the animal shelter!) But I realized it's okay, I also donated extra sets and still had enough for each bed. I was amazed at how much we had!
Thabk you for being here! And yes, anxiety can be paralyzing. I understand completely but I have also realized that through God and the power we were gifted by him that we are stronger than any of our struggles. You are too! You have to tell yourself this and really believe it and you will move forward and be able to do it all! One small step to change! Pray for God to take hour anxiety and believe in your worth and strength too! You have the power to change right inside of you! Please watch for this weeks video where I share so much helpful info and offer extreme cleaning motivation for anxiety and depression! Please subscribe and hit the bell so you dont miss it qhen it comes out. I really think it will help you!♡💪🤎🙏🦋
I've been getting rid of all the plastic in my house. I think wicker baskets, wooden boxes, metal baskets like yours are so much prettier than all that plastic. I still keep plastic in the pantry so everything can be sterilized but it's homey to have more texture. That meant getting rid of the plastic storage bins hoard I had accumulated.
Watching this video has been so satisfying! I identify myself with so many of the things you mention: (1) the messiness, (2) the depression, (3) the anxiety that many colors together bring, (4) the self-talk for not getting demotivated for not finishing something the same date that you started, (5) the hoarding of many things, (6) the decision process to get rid of certain things, (7) the perfectionism when deciding on getting organized and minimalist. And even if not specifically mentioned, the mental toll that represents that decluttering. Even when we know that we'll feel so relieved, proud and happy when we finish. I admire you for exposing yourself to the world. Not easy at all. I guess it helps with accountability. I've grown tired of trying but have never succeeded yet. Hope this gives me enough inspiration to move forward with decluttering, cleaning and organizing my home. Cheers!
This year I was blindsided by anxiety - never had I suffered from this disorder. It is a true shock to my system! There is so much that I have to learn on how to manage & carry on. All this to say, don't give up on your minimalist journey. My minimalist journey actually started 7 years ago, so by now our home is SO much easier to maintain. When anxiety flares and I have a "crash session", our home is not an added burden.
I LOVE how real this is!! I just want you to know that I went from THIS kind of messy to now very minimal (and intentional). I still love watching these videos because it motivate me to clean. It is totally doable for anyone. Great job!!
Nice job! Thanks for the encouragement. I am 63 years old and lost both of my parents a year ago. I have been going through their things and mine trying to declutter. It is tough.
Happy Fathers Day Mighty Dads! Lets give it up to our Mighty Dads! I hope this video helps motivate you to go from Messy to Minimal! I am loving this process! It has been so freeing! If I can do this You can do this! Lets take control of that mess! Lets go!💪🦋🤎🙏
decluttering is a progress for many years because you must maintain it. i am new here. so i can't say that you are a hoarder. i have anxiety, and bipolair disorder so depression is what i lived with for many many years. i am proud of you, you did it.
I'm a older Mom, a empty nest Mom! I've retire early and have been going through depression too? I'm a organization bin hoarder! Your closet looks so beautiful, you have given me some great ideas!! Thanks!! God Bless you all!!!
Hi Kathy! You are so lucky to be retired and have all the time in the world now to beautify your home! Please subscribe to join the journey and start decluttering snd organizing your spaces with me! You are stronger than your struggles! If I can do this so can you! One small step!!💪 we are all here for you! You are not alone!♡🦋🙏
When our son moved out, I was sooo lost. Empty nest is much harder than I anticipated. It's taken me a really long time to see & realize alot of my clutter is a cushion or buffer against the feelings that arose. It also makes it so hard to remove anything. Depression, anxiety & perfectionism live in my head & paralyze my body. Your video gives me hope. Thank you so very much.
I'm proud of you. And finally a channel for realistic cleaning and living I can actually relate too. Not in big fancy homes. Actual lived in homes with real life budget and real life problem solving....
Hey Elli! Thank you for being here! I actually made shirt with my quote and sell it on my etsy shop MightyMamaPower. You can pirchsse from there. If you dont see it please let me know. Stay Mighty!💪🤎🦋🙏
i majorly downsized recently. I had lived in the old house for almost 20 years. it was cathartic, emotional, stressful . Now i live in a lovely clean mess-free space, it helps my anxiety a lot
Such a satisfying transformation!! I love it! I have transitioned to all white towels so they all just get thrown in a heavy bleach wash. My sister-in-law did this and I loved the idea. I am like you, once I do an area I just want to sit and look at it cuz it makes me so happy.😊
I can relate, I’m an organized hoarder as well. I used to teach and have a love for children books and have a bunch of learning material I can’t get rid of. I keep telling myself I’ll get rid of it once my babies have all used and gone through it all. Currently sitting pregnant… so I have several more years to go with my hoarded items. Drives my husband bonkers!
I did replace all my towels and wash cloths. It was an expensive swap but I love my choices. I even swapped out my son's towels to big boy towels instead of kid towels with themes on them. He loves them.
Hey Tammy!.I want to do that eventually down the road too! Maybe after my little guy gets bigger too. It will look so much better and reduce my anxiety to have them all matching!🤪 My OCD drives me mad!🤯 I will be thinking of you the day I do this!♡
The biggest issue for me with clutter is guilt. "But that eyeshadow was so expensive." "But it's brand new." I learned how to overcome my clutter by letting go. If the decluttering task is too overwhelming and I keep putting it off, I'll just take a box or trash bag and throw EVERYTHING away. It is more expensive that way, but the peace I'm gaining by decluttering and keeping it decluttered is worth it.
Appreciate your talk about postpartum depression and how it affected your decision-making at the time of making a new home... That happened to me but a little differently in time. It was very hard and I can understand what happened to you and to me... You made it! So did I! And we lived to tell the tale and help others.
I raised 2 daughters without child support. I worked part-time, but never felt deprived, because we always had just enough of everything. I'm grateful to have learned to go without. Although, I do treasure the things I inherited.
TOTALLY!!!!! My OCD is having a REALLY schedule routine (like time for bath, time for brushing teeth - and if I pass 1 minute over the time I scheduled my day is over even before getting out of the bed.) That’s terrible! We’re going to get this! 💪
I have OCD and can't stop giving things away. I want everything as minimal as possible. To the cost of me sometimes giving stuff away and rebuying them months later cause I actually need the stuff. I guess OCD can go both ways depending on what you obsess over.
There must be because I thought hoarding was like the people on TV. They clearly have an emotional attachment to most things in their home. I can understand that to an extent because I have a difficult time putting my daughter's artwork in recycling, and there are definitely things from my childhood that I will take to my grave with me. Just kidding about the grave. But I can definitely relate to the emotional attachment part...just not to things like garbage, clothing, yarn, or stuff like that which some of those people in the shows are attached to. I think I'm an accidental hoarder, though, because we have a plethora of school supplies like pencils, paper, markers, etc. I definitely need to find someone to donate them to.
@@JaZmine147 You sound exactly like a really good friend of mine I had several years ago. I never actually thought of her as having OCD, but I guess it's possible. She would literally move her furniture around in her home at least two times a month (sometimes as much as twice a week!). And she'd always be throwing things away. I did talk her into giving things away, instead, so she wasn't wasting things. But she'd have to re-buy things she got rid of many times, too. 🤔
Money saving tip: when reorganizing you can make a regiftable pile to save money on gifts each year. For example, if you over stock on storage containers...then make gift baskets out of them or gift sets for friends and family. In turn, you can motivate them to get better organized.
Wow, you did an amazing job! I've been on this journey for 7 years and I've watched so many videos like this one. You gave away WAY more than most people on a first go round of a room. SO IMPRESSIVE!
YES!! I am also an "organized hoarder"! We wouldn't normally put those two words together.... but this is ME, to a TEE! To go one step further, I am a hoarder of craft supplies- all packed to the rim in these super cute organizing bins, baskets, containers, etc. Now here's the problem. Currently purging craft supplies to donate, sell or toss- but then what happens to all my super cute organizing bins, baskets and containers, NOW that they are empty?? HA!! I still can't bring myself to get rid of them! I really related to your video on all levels- I too, battled post-pardom depression and the visual clutter really just made things so much more stressful- I felt like I was going out of my mind! Fast forward several years- all is coming together and I'm treasuring the tranquility and peacefulness I've found in my minimalist clean home. It was a lot to get here- but If I can do it, anyone can!
I appreciate you!! It makes me feel better knowing someone else gathers bins to organize and then it exceeds the point if the bins. ☺️ Thank you so much for sharing your depression and anxiety story. Nice to know again others are there and can be successful and keep a life. You rock!!
The first thought on my mind was „well you don‘t appear to me like someone dealing with depression or anxiety“… and just one second later I realized that these topics relate to soooo many people. That nobody is safe from this and that a lot of people suffering from it have good and bad times dealing with it - just like every „healthy“ person too. You can be soooo proud, confronting yourself regulary with all this stuff and your greatest fears! 😇
You said the right words mess to minimal that’s exactly what I’ve been working on for the past year in our house we’ve gotten around 85 to 90% of the items out of our house that we were not using and it’s down to the last 10% I have been using clear containers we are labeling them and putting them downstairs on shelves that way when the kids need something they can go down and grab it minimal lysing the top portion of our house makes it so much easier to clean and keep tidy now we’re moving on to minimalize in our clothing wish I had some of those hair straightener’s I need to go out and get to myself I don’t have any and I need one for a project that I work with and then my children need one thank you so much for this channel you have no idea how well you’re doing and how much this helps keep up The amazing work you’re doing awesome
Thank you! Your message means so much to me! You are kicking butt Mama 💪 #goals I am working my way there and its an amazing feeling every space I clear! I can feel the layers of stress peeling off of me each time! Thanks for being here for me too!♡🙏🦋
@@MightyMama you got this girl I’ve had six children now I have two grandchildren I’m down to just a 12-year-old 11-year-old and a 10-year-old my two older kids are now on their own with babies of themselves and you will get through this I seen that you have a little bitty ones running around I’ve been there done that I’ve had four and diapers at one time so I understand just keep up the great work your channel is amazing I hope this channel just hit viral you’re going to help so many people with what you’re doing and how you’re doing it unlike other channels your channel reaches out I think to more people I don’t have depression but I have severe anxiety and OCD just keep working your way through you got this girl
Well impressed with your decluttering , I think getting a home with less items actually helps my mental health, I have spent the last year removing items from my home, I have gone from a solidly packed wardrobe to one 6 foot rail, haven't missed any clothes at all. I have also found that after removing so much cleaning is so much easier
This is so great to see, I come from a family of hoarders and am now so far on the opposite spectrum but it’s wonderful to see people changing their lives for the better. I wish you luck in your journey, you got this!
When I did my linen closet, I figured it would take a couple hours. It took 2 days. And like you, I found that I had multiples of many things that were not necessarily needed. We will not be buying many bathroom items, probably, for over a year.
Also have OCD depression and anxiety attacks it is so hard to get started but I need to take this one day at a time it's not like it's dirty it's organized mess if you will, pretty sure you guys understand💜💜xx
Yes Wendy! I totally understand! You can do ot! Just go at your own pace. A little each day takes the mess away! We are rooting you on here! Stay Mighty!💪🤎🦋🙏
I'm sure since it's organized mess it vl be easy to declutter it... U just have to take the 1st step.... Once u step in I'm sure u vl get it done... Good luck 😊
I really love that you talk about anxiety and depression in regards to cleaning and organizing, post pardon depression etc. Things like this are so much more challenging or even impossible when you suffer, especially from depression. Thanks for sharing your experience! For me it is the talking about these issues and still tackling the work that is so motivating. 💕Life is difficult, sharing makes it easier💜
Love seeing other's processes when decluttering! Is so amazing. I go through my house every 6 months (give or take) and every time I find so much to get rid of its crazy how much we can accumulate
I know it's almost been a year since this, but so glad you posted this. while it's only one room in a house, it does give me more courage for a large task i have to tackle.
Hi Adrienne! Welcome! Its never too late to start! I am actually restarting my Messy to Minimal videos this coming week so be sure you are subscribed because we are going to declutter like a Mother!!😘🤣💪🙏🤎
Stumbled onto this video and your channel. Thank you for sharing your challenges. I find I make progress, but then get depressed and anxious about how much there is to do still. Thank you for reminding me to keep going. I’m going to try daily “baby steps” and remind myself that by keeping plugging away even for short periods everyday will indeed result in noticeable improvements.
Awesome tip about the vision board for your home , sounds like something to that would be super beneficial for me. Can you let me know the names of the songs during your video, super inspirational.
Maybe what you could try is what’s called a packing party. Where you pack everything like your going to move and you only unpack things you use. After a month whatever’s left you get rid of
Something that has helped me is when you look at a room that needs cleaning and organizing instead of looking at it as a whole, section it off. Good luck.
Thank you. I am coming out of a long depression. My house isn’t dirty, I’ve gone through the cleaning already. But part of my depression was buying too many things. Anything for some kind of lift. So now I have too much stuff and the clutter is bothering me. I am also an organized hoarder and love containers. I’m right there with you. Thank you for doing this and sharing this.
I feel like I keep decluttering my 1br apartment since having my bf move in and having our son. It's never enough, I still feel claustrophobic.. I've been trying my best to get things done, but my mental health makes it hard too. This was nice motivation to dig through my closets again
Hey Shawna! I am so happy you were able to get some of closets cleared out. Evem if it was alittle! A little progress is better than none! So you are kicking butt already! Now keep moving! Its very hard to deal with clutter when Claustrophobic. I am that too! I will never tske an elevator! I will walk 6 flights before I do elevators! So i feel ya! The more you declutter the less stressed and suffocated you will feel! I am here cheering you on!! You can do this!! Stay Mighty! New awesome motivational video coming this weekend! Be sure to subscribe and click the bell so you dont miss it! Of you got a mess you will clean it with this video!♡ stay Mighty!💪🤎🙏🦋
Thank you! I got most of my bedroom closet done, and the rest of the warm weather clothes dealt with, usually the nights are still chilly here, but not this year! My apartment is pretty big for a one bedroom, however it's cramped after having my son. I have 3 closets so it's easy to let things get carried away. Working more tomorrow, and checking out more videos before bed❤️
I can’t help but feel I was meant to watch this. You explained me to a T and it’s nice knowing I’m not alone. I’ve lost such motivation and creativity from post partum and you really helped point that out to me. Thank you!
My depression has been very high lately too . No motivation to do simple things like clean the house ! I hope all of you find the motivation in this video or just somewhere . Put some music on and just get in your zone .
Yay, vision board! I am so visually-oriented that this is a great help in defining goals and what they look like. Makes it much easier to plan the steps, in order, of what I need to do to achieve the goal. Right on!
I was in denial about being a hoarder until you put the words "Organised / Hoarder" together. I constantly battle with keeping things so in the end I just organise them like I have serious OCD ahhhhhh 🤭
Yes girl!.Ahhh! I realized I can pack a small space with so much stuff and its puts me at ease justbknowing I have the stuff but then time passes and I never need it or forget I have it! Deives me nuts these days! My goal is to use anything I have within at least 30 days or unless its a seasonal item. Wait till I get into my home decor! 🤯 My basement is the worst! That video will come one day! Thanks for being here! Stay Mighty!💪🤎🦋🙏
I recently moved to the granny flat attached to my house and have started decluttering sporadically. I was a divorced mom who had to do the work and take the responsibility of two parents, and was so overwhelmed that for years I was on automatic pilot and only dealt with essentials. I am at the point where I can actually start thinking of reorganising as the fun it used to be.
Your situation really hits home with me. I am hiding in my clutter. 😣 And I also hoard organizational items. You did a great job, and I am inspired to go clean up my bathroom now.
I am a container hoarder too, I have containers full of empty containers in the garage. I would love to see your final final with all the laundry put in the closet and how you decided to "hide" the colored towels. I was thinking you could put them in their own bin like you did the wash cloths. Looks GREAT!
On my second year of declutter and minimizing. It’s amazing all the stuph we have that we don’t use or need. I have gotten my house to the point wear an hour can change this house🤗 before it took hours and I would go to bed with a wash basket full of things to sort😩
Thank you for sharing this. I also struggle from depression and anxiety plus burnout from my previous job. I tend to have chaotic, messy home, and your videos makes it easier for me to keep my home clean!
I have a small coat closet where I shove all my craft items and I just close the door😩. You have inspired me to pull it all out and declutter as well as organize this space. I want to be as happy as you are….your happiness is contagious!!! 🤩🧘🏻♀️☮️
I came to realize in time that we are all hoarders until we declutter. 😉 Thanks for the motivating video, Mighty Mama. I'm decluttering my wardrobe now. All the best from UK. ❤
I need to do the same! I recently gained 30 pounds over this past year and none of my clothes fit anymore. I have been collecting clothes my whole life and I never get rid of anything so my huge master closet is taken up by all of my clothes that don’t fit anymore! My poor bf has to use the guest room closet, lol! I have a small little section of my new “fat clothes” and there’s not enough room for them so I need to de clutter my wardrobe also!
@@nolagirl7082 I have gained the 30 lbs. also. Due to depression and 2 knee replacements. I’m still struggling with both. I keep telling myself today the day, but then it’s not. 😔
Is it hard for you to declutter your closet? I'm having a hard time with that. If I decluttered it again, I'd probably donate all my clothes. I have gained about 13lbs and nothing fits and I'm tired of looking at them.
Wow I am on my own minimal journey after being a messy hoarder and found your anxiety depression cleaning serious first. Loved the idea but couldn’t get through it because I could see the main problem was the clutter/hoarding not the cleaning or organization . Amazed to see this uploaded this week and you are realizing the problem to fix!! As someone with depression and anxiety I understand how hard it is and tbh defeating so appreciate you sharing this in all the realness:) best of luck
This was great! I subscribed to see this new series. You will find that this will only be a first pass. When striving for minimal, things tend to come off in layers. Once you've been through every space, your decluttering muscles will be stronger and you will peel off another layer. I'm here for it.
I find I have to go back 2-3 times before I feel like it is better but I want to be careful not to go to far. I have seen some people get so obsessed with de-cluttering that they go searching the house just to find somethings(they actually need) to get rid of just to feel good. I don't want to be sending useful things to the landfill, I want to have what I need to feel comfortable and get rid of just the excess, just in case stuff, and stuff just hanging around because it is there, or because I spent money on it.
I've been off work for four weeks to focus on getting my house / car in "working" order. It's definitely a learning process and trying to be kind to myself. Feeling negative and needing that creative emotional boost is how my hoard got so out of control. That and being a divorced mom working 2 jobs with a house and kids that all came before my home comfort responsibility. I hoard anything vintage home. Kids clothes. Dishes probably the most. It's such a tough process to unwind.
Thanks for another video. As soon as I saw it I started clearing up. I e e en made a couple videos for my channel, just to help me stay focused. Thankyou so much, these videos help me keep going. They really do.
They are sewing videos , in an attempt for me to complete projects I have started and abandoned. For me distraction is the best way to cope with the dark thoughts and PTSD. I had no energy to start somethjng new so decided to finish all those half done things. Xx
cleaning and decluttering are fantastic healthy coping mechanisms that helped me get a handle on my depression and anxiety, I'm glad it's bringing you peace as well.
Ok ok ok….. Ur know we’re officially TH-cam Besty‘s! Thank you for being so candid and honest with us I thought I was the only one! you are very inspiring! I overdue on home decor… junkie as well as kitchen gadgets. Thank you so much for your transparency!
My first aid kit consists of band-aids and a small tube of antibiotic ointment. If injured, I just use an ice cube in a ziploc bag. No pills. Ace wraps may inhibit circulation, movement and balance.
🤣 ME TOO!!! If it's on sale, I tend to buy any type of office supplies. While going through my craft room storage totes, yes totes, I found 3 office desk sets, notebooks, file folders, hanging file folders, pencils and pens, sharpie markers, highlighters, you name it. It stresses me out thinking about it.
Ha I was in the store a couple of days ago and was so excited they were stocking for back to school. I don’t need office supplies!! My only purchase because I am trying to transition from plastic, was a fabric / zip pencil case
One of the best videos I’ve seen. Ppl need to realize they are hoarders. I was that way years ago thinking o had to keep everything. I’ve learned over the years I would rather have a clean and organized home. You did an awesome job
Omg I have SO many organizational bins and NO idea what to do with them! Can't wait to watch the rest of this video for some inspiration/motivation! Keep it up!! :)
I just subscribed after watching this video!! My daughter just turned one in June. She was born with neuroblastoma cancer and I have been just going through the motions since then. I’m so ready to find myself again. She is cancer free right now so I’m ready….it’s time. Thank you for talking about anxiety and depression. It is real!
color stresses me out as well! I have so many bins too and definitely need to narrow it down and neutralize. It also feels good to donate which helps me get rid of things I keep holding onto.
I heard you say color stresses you out, while I just decided to paint my doorframes teal. 😂 It made me realize that color makes me happy and I am just afraid others may think it's strange. Now I will let go a lot of stuff and reward myself with more color. Everyone deserves the home that makes them feel good 🤗
Marlene Lieb, What other people think of your home is irrelevant. You said it yourself, Everyone deserves a home that makes them happy. Enjoy your home.
I am impressed with the results. I can see myself when I started, was exactly like you....kind of organized hoarder. A So by decluttering I also found out what I really like . Keep going, looking forward to see your journey.
What you said is totally true: living with anxiety makes us learn A LOT about ourselves. And I like to see it as a light in the end of the tunnel. We’re getting better and better everyday. Love your channel! xoxo from Rio! 🇧🇷
It looks so good and clean 💕 I'm cleaning my mess today and I needed inspiration, thank you. I suffer from both anxiety and depression and my room can get really really bad, that's actually what makes me notice just how bad I'm on the inside. I was super happy when I saw the result 💕 you're doing great. I can't wait to see your basement progress.
OMG. Thank God I found you! I am a 50 yr old single working momma with a 12 year old autistic girl and 14 year old Aspergers and ADHD son. I so have need your videos!!! I can't thank you enough!!!! I am on my second decluttering of life. I had it and lost during stay at home crafting with my 12 year old daughter and keeping her entertained and got caught up in the DT DIYs. I have just now got my buying and impulsive hunt to purchase under control! But, not my house. UGH!!! A devoted momma of AU kiddos!
Thank you for this encouraging video. This was so emotional for me😭 I know I have a problem. Sometimes it's difficult to find the motivation to declutter. It's so important for us to not beat ourselves up if it's not perfect. I think I'll actually try to tackle this today! Wish me luck😬
I hoard food. My mom always stocked up on things we went through alot. It helps save money, yes. But we definitely have a decent amount in our home. I need to constantly remind myself that I shouldn't buy more until the stock we have is depleted.
This is my first ever video of yours so far so I really don't know if this advice helps you. I don't have a linen closet so for each sheet set I folded the set and put it all in one of the pillow cases, and divided them into baskets and put them on the top shelf of each bedroom. That way it is all there together.
I will have to say that sometimes it's being a product of your environment sometimes and/or sentimental attachments, for me, as someone who does not have a mental illness. My mom's house is very cluttered, not hoarding "out of control" cluttered, more so cluttered and disorganized to the point were some things don't have a proper home and it would drive someone crazy. My apartment was darn near spotless, when I lived by myself, because I had control over my environment and I stressed myself (in a healthy way) to keep it clean. I would make a mess during the week, then at the end of the week or so mass clean the kitchen, living area and my bedroom - every month or two was a deep clean of the whole apartment. It was nice just to have control over my environment and to feel clean ❤ For now, as I'm living at moms again (as a temp), I keep my room clean as best as I can along with my section of the bathroom. So, everyone has the potential to have hoarding tendencies, is that scary? Yes, but can you work on how you think about material things and how you want your space to reflect on you? Yes, even if you have to take baby steps 😊 it does get easier to let go of things you don't need or want anymore for a more "functioning" home/lifestyle; if that is what you desire.
Hey girl! Thank you for sharing your story. I do agree that environmental factors play a role in the upkeep of a home and that is why having kids makes it all the more challenging. While some may easily suggest to have my kids do chores, which I do, but there is a micro management with my children that requires my time and attention to make that happen. Let's just say living with mental illness, and special needs children makes this a bit more challenging then the norm. I just take it day by day and try to push through my demons that want me so badly to sit and waste my life away! Thank God for my children because without them I probably would do that. Stay Mighty and hopefully soon you will be able to have own place again. I will pray for both you and your Mom. Stay Mighty & God bless! xo
Thank you for mentioning how you lost yourself through postpartum depression. I try to explain this sometimes to people and it feels like I never get my point across how your train of thinking and being a normally OCD person can just disappear during postpartum. Thank you for sharing your cleaning.
Me too! Kinda like it was my goal achieved too, even though i was cooking while watching the video 😅. Really it looks amazing! Congrats 👏 and keep it going! I know you can ❤! (speaking to myself too😅🤣) Stay mighty, mama!!! 💋
I would definitely say I hoard greeting cards and my kids crafts and drawings.😅. I am on my on journey from messy to minimal and appreciate your encouragement! I am telling myself with most of the kids stuff, to tell myself that I have THEM and to treasure them more and try to keep the things to a minimal. I have not got to my sentimental cards yet😱haha.
My kinda girl. “That’s how we de clutter. We tell our husbands get over it.” Lol. I have to do that and get rid of stuff when he’s at work. He never even misses it!!
My husband does the same thing, saying I need to quit getting rid of stuff, and I just ask him, “Name one thing I got rid of. Name one.” He can’t…. He has no idea 😂
See... around 3:00 is where I get crushed after having emptied EVERYTHING out of a closet then being surrounded by the mess and feeling too overwhelmed to know what to do with it
I would be overwhelmed by that too, and I have a small closet! Instead of tackling the whole closet at once, break it up into sections. Work on just one section at a time. Good luck!
Loving these videos. Really inspiring. I hoard arts and crafts items. Wouldn't be so bad if I ever used them, but they just end up in different boxes, for when I'm doing some arts and crafts. A lot of decluttering is doing it tour way, which might not work for other people. I'm moving house and new if I went through all of the arts and crafts bits, I wouldn't keep up the momentum I have of decluttering everything, so I just got one massive moving box and anything arts and crafts has gone in, and it will move like that with me. I've got rid of so much stuff, and if I had spent that time going through that and still not getting rid of much of it, my momentum would've broke. A lot of people would see it as bringing excess clutter to the new house, but its what I needed to do to get to the level I'm at now x
I recently decided to start changing my bathroom linens and shower curtain and accessories over to neutrals as I update/replace, etc. Funny you should be talking about this! I not only find it more restful and visually appealing, it seems to help me be calm. I make exceptions for hand towels with patterns I am drawn to but still consist of neutral color combinations. The old linens become cleaning rags and cat beds (I stuff them and sew the edges) or whatever we need. Nothing goes to waste.
I keep most of the boxes from my Amazon deliveries, because they are the perfect size if I have to ship some of my creations that I sell on Etsy... But I have too much of them now. I also keep shower curtains even though I have a standard shower which doesn't need curtains. I keep them to use as a tablecloth when I do DIYs and crafting.
Crafting all by itself creates so much clutter, you can repurpose almost anything if you just give it a little thought. First de-cluttering of my sewing & craft room was the hardest, need to give it another go.
Thank you for this video, I am so happy I found your channel! I needed something like this to motivate me for an all day clean today so thank you for this and for all of your other videos. Keep this going! 🌞
I had to many cleaning supplies. But that was in the past. Now I have all purpose cleaner concentrated and I mix with water in spray bottle. Only one for all house. Saved me a lot of money and you know what? My house is clean. 😊
It starts out that way … taking advantage of sale prices. Then you have far too much. That’s been me too but I only buy extras of a few items now and have cut back on the variety of cleaning products I use.
My item was sheets, curtains, bath towels. I have been decluttering every few months. I am down to two sets of sheets. Once everything starts getting worn looking out it will go. I loved this video. Thank you for sharing.
You are doing great! You might find encouragement at the decluttering TH-cam channel called A Hoarder's Heart. Wishing you joy, peace and success!

It's a hard fight. Just keep doing what you are doing. Proud of you. Tina
I have that too, my ex boyfriend used to call my apartment like a hospital lol. He was the complete opposite so makes sense ^^
Everyone thinks I'm crazy for wanting all my walls white with only minimal colors in decor
I NEEDED this today!!! I had a whole plan for my entire day and guess what?? I have done nothing! Depression sucks. I am watching this and it is giving me motivation to try again tomorrow.
Sometimes rest is best! Dont let the guilt eat at you. Relax and wnjoy time off to recharge for tomorrow. We all need a day or two for that!♡
@@MightyMama thank you so much ❤️
Time to plan and be inspired.
Just keep watching video like this and it will help you get motivated blessings to you hope you feel better
me too.... u are not alone. i decided to start tackling one drawer so at least not the entire sunday is gone without me doing nothing..
You’re so insightful. X Thanks so much for sharing! ❤️ Mel in Australia 🇦🇺🦘🐨
Yes girl! Yes! All of this plus a bag of chips!!👏👏👏 I can so relate! And the money thing! Its so freeing! I was wasting so much money just to have stuff that makes me anxious anyways!🤦♀️ We live and we learn!! The Journey!💪🦋🤍🙏
I can relate to this it’s what I’m kinda going through right now
Every time I go to my storage unit I get anxiety and ball out crying because all of the memories and reasons I have it ,comes back. I was forced from my home.
@@kendraclark4404 that’s terribly sad 😢.
I applaud your persistence in working toward your goals. I too suffer from anxiety and agree that a cluttered space elevates my stress. A strategy I use when minimizing and organizing is to pretend that I'm downsizing to move cross country. I critique whether each item is worth hauling with me to my new home. Hope this helps!
love this idea!
Love love this transformation.
Me sinto vazia sem muitas coisas ao meu redor , um tipo de medo de aconchego , é muito difícil fazer isso , amo esses vídeos .
Brilliant idea 💖
Huge job completed there. Well done. Tip for bed linen that really works for me. Put sheets inside the pillowcase for each bed when dried. Makes it so easy to keep the right stuff together
Yup, I used to do that too... Realized that all the bottom sheets were completely torn up, unusable, so had to toss them; (I couldn't even donate them to the animal shelter!) But I realized it's okay, I also donated extra sets and still had enough for each bed. I was amazed at how much we had!
There is a fold on pintrest that helps with that. I also put them in a basket
@@Lisawhatshersname you can just get the fited sheet alone at the Walmart to replace for 7.00
Great idea
@janecrafts That is the best tip! I always get frustrated with the fitted sheet not being folded good.
This is so inspiring. Thank you! It's depressing being a perfectionist who is paralyzed with anxiety.
Thabk you for being here! And yes, anxiety can be paralyzing. Yes! This is me exactly!!
I know that’s right
I've been getting rid of all the plastic in my house. I think wicker baskets, wooden boxes, metal baskets like yours are so much prettier than all that plastic. I still keep plastic in the pantry so everything can be sterilized but it's homey to have more texture. That meant getting rid of the plastic storage bins hoard I had accumulated.
Yes! I love this! Great advice!!🤍
Oh good.. Its not just me ?ive got plastics all over...EMPTY...for the sake of *trying* to organize.💙💔💚
I feel so much better now
Watching this video has been so satisfying!
I agree and is how I felt I got mines at 35 I felt like a heart attack over n over ..uhh
I LOVE how real this is!! I just want you to know that I went from THIS kind of messy to now very minimal (and intentional). I still love watching these videos because it motivate me to clean. It is totally doable for anyone. Great job!!
I am really impressed with your closet and also that you know what you really want for your colors.
Thanks for being so honest about your own struggles and of course for keeping it real.
Thank you Shelly🤍
Nice job! Thanks for the encouragement. I am 63 years old and lost both of my parents a year ago. I have been going through their things and mine trying to declutter. It is tough.

decluttering is a progress for many years because you must maintain it. i am new here. so i can't say that you are a hoarder. i have anxiety, and bipolair disorder so depression is what i lived with for many many years. i am proud of you, you did it.

When our son moved out, I was sooo lost. Empty nest is much harder than I anticipated. It's taken me a really long time to see & realize alot of my clutter is a cushion or buffer against the feelings that arose. It also makes it so hard to remove anything. To save time and effort, rinse shelves or woven baskets in your shower. Dry them in the sunshine. In a closet, wash the walls with a wet swivel broom.
Never judge a mom by her mess... that was so spot-on! I need that on a T-Shirt. 😂🥰
I am currently doing this, everything white !
It will look so much better and reduce my anxiety to have them all matching!🤪 My OCD drives me mad!🤯 I will be thinking of you the day I do this!♡
@@MightyMama ❤❤❤❤
@@MightyMama if it reduces your anxiety i would just make the swap. Also donate the old ones to a pet shelter!
@@MightyMama :)
What a huge difference!! Keep going. Being really honest with yourself about what you don't use or need will be so freeing to get out of your home.
It feels amazing! I feel like I am becoming addicted to the purge!🤣🤪 Not sure if thats a good thing?!😂
Appreciate your talk about postpartum depression and how it affected your decision-making at the time of making a new home... That happened to me but a little differently in time. It was very hard and I can understand what happened to you and to me... You made it! So did I! And we lived to tell the tale and help others.
Maybe try a wicker basket to hide the colored towels and leave the towels you like stacked on the open shelf?
I raised 2 daughters without child support. I worked part-time, but never felt deprived, because we always had just enough of everything. I'm grateful to have learned to go without. Although, I do treasure the things I inherited.
Big projects sometimes need more than one day!! Very relatable !
I like that you extended your decorative style into the closet. Makes you feel happy every time you go into the closet.
OCD and hoarding go together. I have both. There are different levels of hoarding.
@@scootermom1791 Yes! I keep redecorating my apartment. So annoying. When every room is done I start over. 😂
Thank you Babrbara! You give me the hope I need to get through it sll! I so relate to everyhting hou said! Thank you so much for being here!♡
I appreciate you!!

Store sheets in the bedrooms where they'll be used. Use old towels as rags.
I love how honest you're being with us and yourself. I have hoarding tendencies too and I'm trying to work on it
Awesome tip about the vision board for your home , sounds like something to that would be super beneficial for me.
Thank you! I got most of my bedroom closet done, and the rest of the warm weather clothes dealt with, usually the nights are still chilly here, but not this year! My apartment is pretty big for a one bedroom, however it's cramped after having my son. I have 3 closets so it's easy to let things get carried away. My depression has been very high lately too . No motivation to do simple things like clean the house ! I hope all of you find the motivation in this video or just somewhere . Put some music on and just get in your zone .
Everyday 1 babystep helps me a lot. The sunday stylist has a 21 challenge now and it worked. Also fly lady babysteps. Grts Cindy from belgium 🇧🇪
Mine too x
You are so encouraging to me this morning!! I love your cleaning "music" that really would motivate me!!😀
Your situation really hits home with me.
Wow Janelle! You a amazing! You inspire me to get to where you are! Thank you for being here!♡
That's great! I hate moving stuff around the house. I'd rather not have the stuff!
Thank you for sharing this. I also struggle from depression and anxiety plus burnout from my previous job. I tend to have chaotic, messy home, and your videos makes it easier for me to keep my home clean!
It's great that you share your emotional struggles while giving tips and encouragement! So helpful. 😊💖
@@nolagirl7082 not becoming a burden, decluttering your wardrobe is easier when you decide on your style also. That helped me a lot.
Stay tuned for my clothes closet declutter coming soon! I got you girl! ♡
Yes Natasha! I can see feel those muscles growing already! Decluttering is the best therapy! Thank you!♡💪🦋
Yes 👏🏽
I love this description!! You're absolutely right! Xx
100%. I’ve found this too! I’ve documented my own journey over the years. It’s so worth it.
Xx
I will have to come over and check them out. Sounds relaxing! I will be over soon! IStay Mighty!♡
cleaning and decluttering are fantastic healthy coping mechanisms that helped me get a handle on my depression and anxiety, I'm glad it's bringing you peace as well.
Ok ok ok….. Ur know we’re officially TH-cam Besty‘s! Thank you for being so candid and honest with us I thought I was the only one! you are very inspiring! I overdue on home decor… junkie as well as kitchen gadgets. Thank you so much for your transparency!
Thank younfor your kind message and for being here! I love to gain more besties!♡♡
My first aid kit consists of band-aids and a small tube of antibiotic ointment. If injured, I just use an ice cube in a ziploc bag. No pills. Ace wraps may inhibit circulation, movement and balance.
I hosed pencils and sharpies and highlighters and tablets and calendars - office supplies in general haha
Thank you so much! Bringing back Messy to Minimal videos this coming week and on! Stay tuned!
It is real!
Sending you and your daughter all the prayers and hugs Mama! Stay Mighty! You can take control of the mess!♡ Thank you for being here for me!🙏💪🦋
color stresses me out as well!
So by decluttering I also found out what I really like . Keep going, looking forward to see your journey.
Yes! I am finding what I love now and it makes the process much easier!♡
It was nice just to have control over my environment and to feel clean ❤
For now, as I'm living at moms again (as a temp), I keep my room clean as best as I can along with my section of the bathroom.
Stay Mighty & God bless! xo
It looks great! For that sterling silver you can use tooth paste to clean it, that's how I clean my silver jewelry.
Tysm! I will do that!
Thank you for mentioning how you lost yourself through postpartum depression. I try to explain this sometimes to people and it feels like I never get my point across how your train of thinking and being a normally OCD person can just disappear during postpartum. Thank you for sharing your cleaning.
that looks amazing! I felt so happy for you when you got it all done!
Me too! Kinda like it was my goal achieved too, even though i was cooking while watching the video 😅.
Really it looks amazing! Congrats 👏 and keep it going! I know you can ❤! (speaking to myself too😅🤣)
Stay mighty, mama!!!
Good luck!
@@cindy844 Thank you , Cindy. 💚
You get me!🤎
Girl! That’s absolutely amazing! Way to go!
Yes!! I aint going anywhere! I got you girl! Thank you for keeping me motivated too!♡ Stay Mighty!💪🦋🙏🤎
@@MightyMama I’m happy u tube recommended ur video. I have @ least 50 bottles of shampoo & deodorant. Ur video inspired me ❤️💕👍
It really helps me to hear you speak about goals and how you utilize them for planning and staying on course. Thank you.
I hoard cleaning products, I like to take advantage of the price when they’re on offer .
Same! I will share that collection one day when I do that purge too! 🤣 Thanks foe being here! Stay Mighty!♡🙏🦋
I have to try all the ones I hear about in videos, then I can't get rid of em of course.
Same here!!
Great Job! It feels so good to clear space and unload the stress mess! Thank you for being here!🤍🙏💪
