Becky, it is no one’s business how many toys your sweet babies have. Nor is it anyone’s business how many you donate or throw away. You are doing what is best for your family and that’s the only thing that is important. I think you are doing a fabulous job. The play room looked amazing when you finished. Great job!

I had a big Tupperware bin filled with little toys. Like little barbies (4"), Pollyanna pockets, Disney little characters minis, ect. And it was filled. I would bring it out on rainy days when my kids couldn't go out and they were just laying around. And when I brought that up from the basement they were so excited and dig through that box playing all day. When they went to bed back down the basement it went for another rainy day.
People often times forget that as different as every human is as different are the families they have. What works for one doesn't necessarily have to work for another. They is not the one right way to raise a kid and being human is about to learn, to grow, to adapt. Life is a journey. You're doing good, don't let anyone discourage you :)
I had the same issue with so many toys coming in! I had to just look at family and friends and say "Hey, we really appreciate all these gifts but we need some boundaries." I asked them to approve gifts with me to ensure it's something they don't have or don't like. I then set a limit of $100 or 5 items which ever comes first because we have 3 kids lol for Christmas. I have a one gift per person rule for birthdays and other holidays. I also put a stop to the random toy buying through out the year. It saved me tremendously! Of course at first I had angry people but I just assured them that we love their generosity but most of it ended up donated or broken from the overwhelming amount of toys the kids had to play with.
Your are so wise to minimize your children's toys. The overload is bad for you and them. Usually, if I'm struggling with a space in my home, that's my cue to declutter.
It takes strength and tenacity and fortitude to tackle ANY child room. Well done to you and ANY parent who clean out a kiddy room. I am a self employed cleaner and before I go into a kiddy room, I ALWAYS ask questions about the room. If the kids are present, i ALWAYS ask them what they dont want me to touch. Tell me thier room rules! I will always respect where the child is at.

We are in the same boat with friends and family buying for our kids. I am so greatful for people that want to show my babies love, but oh man it’s a lot! This year for birthdays and Christmas I am strongly encouraging family to buy them tickets or passes to things for us to do or for the family members to do with them. Let’s hope it works! 😂

The fact you did this 2 week into recovery after having a baby is amazing in itself, most mothers would be on bed rest or something for at least a month or two.
I completely understand I am helping my daughter raise her son I have been helping since he was born but every time I clean his room I throw out toys too to help keep the mess down but I also do the same you do I would never get rid of something I know he loves to play with

Becky you have more patience than I do. I would have screamed walking in that room. And probably fussed at my husband for allowing it to get like that. But then I would just start cleaning and decluttering. That’s what moms do. It was too much for the kiddos. I’m sure they will enjoy the room so much better with not so much.

I do think that less is often more. When I as an adult have a lot of choices, it can be overwhelming and difficult to make decisions. So I can only imagine myself as a young child walking into a cluttered playroom and not even knowing what to choose or to even have a place in which to play. But with that being said, everyone needs to be comfortable to make their own decisions for their family and their specific needs. Everyone is different and people are in different stages of life. And from my experience, kids tend to gravitate towards playing with the same toys just as we tend to gravitate towards wearing certain pieces of clothing, so why sit and hold onto and store items that are simply taking up space and creating clutter.
Love this video and your beautiful new home. Growing up I remember playing make believe with my siblings and playing outside. I remember two beloved books, my favorite doll and my favorite game. Like you suggest, your kids won’t miss the stuff. You know your family best ❤

Becky, you look amazing.😮😍😍. Becky what about adding a wall of shelves & cubes. Each wall could be a large bookshelf for books another wall for interactive toys. Another for playing house with dolls and dishes etc. make a house within the room. Organizing and naming the spaces make for a fun space for playing. Good job Becky. Hope you are feeling well and the little one is doing well.😊❤ cannot wait to met her.❤I hope the labor and birth wasn’t to difficult. You are so brave . Congratulations on the new baby! I was waiting for any update!❤ You can define play spaces using small carpets, moving the tool table and other bigger furnitures to create little corners/centers around the room so not all toys get dumped in the middle of the room. If that makes sense. Like dinosaur carpet is dino land.
It is no one's business what you want to put in, or take out of, your kids' rooms. You do an amazing job!

Hi Becky, like you said, everyone has opinions, but honey, you are one terrific Mama, and I love and admire how you put your family first, so please don't let anyone tell you any different. You always have done what's best for your family, and I know you always will. I'm glad you said you really didn't have a plan when you started because that was a question I had. I'm one who always asks you about decluttering since it's so hard for me. Making decisions has always been hard for me. I tend to overthink everything 🤔. I also watch both of your channels❤. With little kids it seems the toys just seem to populate like crazy and you do have to declutter,it gets crazy I just love your little helper there❤so cute ❤yeah things get so bad that even they don’t know what to play with and your little ones know that other kids will get toys to play with. Can’t tell you how many times I had to declutter their stuff. My daughter is dealing with the two little ones and she tries to keep it toned down or some things go to Once upon a Child store. You could do a white wall with the rainbow, and all the kids hand prints....my sister-in-law did that with her daughter it was pretty neat

Hey Becky. Hannah ,from Hannahs happy home on youtube, had a boyroom/ playroom makeover on her channel, few months ago. She used beautiful colours for the wall and a storage System from ikea. It looks very nice.

Congratulation on the new little one! Funny that a friend and I were talking yesterday about toys we had as children and how much we appreciated them as we didn't have many. We are both boomers and I can count the number of dolls I had on one hand. My last doll was a Barbie for my 8th Christmas. Mostly I had books, coloring books, crayons, drawing paper, paper dolls, and modeling clay to keep myself entertained with.

Hi, glad to hear that you and baby are doing well! I am in the same toy situation. I have a 5 year old daughter (5 next week) and she is the first grandchild and great grandchild so she is spoiled by everyone. We had so many toys they didn’t fit in her room anymore. I started removing some to see what she missed and what I could get rid off! I will be following your lead and decluttering the toys this week!! Thank you for the motivation!!
You did an awesome job😅we do have to go through our kids toys. I am a grandmother now and I have 3 granddaughters and at my home we have lots of different kinds of things to play with, so some need to go as they grow or we see what they are not playing with. I do have tubs to change out different items also. You did great!!🎉🎉

hello, ı bought a very simple ikea trofast with bins and shelves. ı keep toys in bins (with lids in storage) and bring 6 new bins max per week less most of the time. whenever infeel one bin is very unpopular i take it away. ı found these cute labels with both pictures and words on them so everyone whether my toddler or a helper knows what goes where. also wall shelfs that are their height is a saver too for art supplies and books ans some puzzles.
A genius move, I remember you doing this at your other house! I can paint a room, but if you're artistic, I'd go for the 🌈

Also a thought for the future: People feel bad to actually come without a present, so maybe instead of saying they should come without offer to gift the kids time together. may it be eating icecream together, visiting a kids museum, the zoo or whatever. This way you won't have as many toys and your kids get the chance to experience things they may otherwise wouldn't :)
