- This is the new Razer Blade 15 Studio Edition and I'm excited about it because of the GPU power sitting under the hood. It happens to be one of the first laptops to market with NVIDIA's new Quadro RTX 5000 GPU.
Since it is so unique, I figured I'd do a complete walkthrough on it for anyone interested in the Blade 15 Studio Edition's specs, benchmarks, video editing abilities, and more.

The Tech Chap premiere is terrible with gpu utilization in render times. This isn’t surprising. Keep in mind render times aren’t everything my man. Timeline performance is important and smoothness while editing is important too!
Certainly Quadro card get more smoothness in timeline and are more improve in render when the project has more effects!

It would be nice to see an in depth comparison for gaming with this vs the 2080. There are people who have dual needs on a single machine and cannot compromise gaming or creative performance.

the main diferences are price, double presision , memory and that its rated to be working 24/7 like for example a render farm or data center... unless you are one of those.... you don't need quadro
The RTX5000 is only for these few users that know why they need it with its 16GB memory. This part alone is about half the price of this unit

I was under the impression that it was gonna come out with this 15" model but that didn't happen. Their website still says Fall 2019. Do you plan on reviewing it when it comes out?

Hi, thank you for the video! I was wondering with the drivers are they catered toward particular programs? For instance I’m looking to get a laptop for Architecture - so I would like to use it for rendering and also for programs like Revit, Autocad modelling. I noticed in Nvidia website that the mention the RTX 3000 from MSI as one that supports those programs..is it the case that each river actually supports particular programs?
Quadro is more stable and thus is better for ALL architecture, 3D, Animation, or even Adobe programs -not just certain ones. However, regular GTX/RTX high-end cards will also perform very well on MOST architecture, 3D, animation and Adobe programs.
@@ClownSpass They do, but the difference Quadro offers is that you can throw a lot more polygons at it and will enjoy a much smoother viewport experience than on a GTX card.
So, in terms of GPU gaming performance, the RTX 5000 quadro is actually on par with a RTX 2080 Max-q? Or was that a RTX 2080 SUPER max-q in your black blade?
I just recently bought this laptop and I love it for gaming. For some odd reason not too many people realize you can download the Gamer ready drivers from the GeForce application. All you have to do is go into the GeForce application and change the driver settings from developer to gamer ready. This will reinstall the drivers which turns it into a gamers laptop.
Any driver problems at all? also how is the cooling? I'm strongly considering this laptop
Might sound silly, but is the Quadro RTX 5000 still a capable gaming card? I'd rather go for the 2080 Max Q, but they don't offer that in the Mercury White...
This is my new dream laptop. It is sooo nice; really good specs, seemingly good battery life, etc, all for 3,700 dollars. If I went for a much bulkier Thinkpad P15 with identical specs it will cost 8 thousand... That is probably the only time Razer will be cheaper than Lenovo. But I am not complaining, its a steal in my opinion

Guys this thing is a beast. If you move around a lot and travel a lot I still get to do all my work really easily. If you use a stylus make sure it works with the touch screen

sd card slot is a good addition. however, I would rather have it on the 15 inch advance model, because this one is cheaper and has a better keyboard.

It has a thunderbolt 3 port so i dont see why you woudlnt be able to connect an Egpu but why would you want to anyway?

I need a laptop for doing colour grading & very minor edits on very short 6K BRAW files on DaVinci Resolve. I was considering the 15 Studio Edition, but I'm getting the impression it's a bit overcooked for what I need it for. Would I be better off scaling back to either the base or advanced model, or even the PRO 17?
Yeah the new 2020 blade 15 advanced with the top GPU is what I would go for if I were you between those options instead of the studio models (save you a decent amount of money for very little noticeable difference in performance)

This laptop is basically the best production laptop you can get. I mean you could spend more and get a mobile workstation with more overhead, but it’s gonna be 2-4x thicker and heavier. This thing looks like a MacBook and performs 100x better. If I were a content creator this would be my daily driver laptop.
The FN will be there for hyper shift in synapse I presume

cost leass than a 32gb vega 4gb memory macbook pro. plus you can upgrade the ram or 2 ssds down the line have the dastest usba ports, tb3, hdmi, and the all important fastest sd card slot, and yea, 4K touch (no touch bar), color accurate, and oled.
only thing missing is 120hz.

@Esa Elias the trackpad is only slightly larger, the speakers sre better, but you are realy using them? Disign, well, it is terible at tranfering heat, so it always thermal throttles, so it is even more underpowered. Soooooooo, anything else

oh good they spent all of 10 cents on a webcam module. That's important. If I'm spending $5k on a laptop I definitely want everyone i conference with to think i'm using a potato.

I really want to understand what a quadro card do more than a regular rtx when you render 3d animation , or after effect project. Also if that give more fluid viewport on maya or blender ?
The only advantage arrives if the specific programe has drivers for a quadro card. Maya and blender don't benefit from this. The VRAM is useful, I use that when rendering but otherwise get a normal geforce
For what you need it for (blender and maya and rendering) the only advantage it provides is more vram, assuming you are getting the higher end models.
A common pc build that 3d artist are deploying is a dual 2080ti system. In some render engines you can even nvlink them to combine vram, which for me totally eliminates the need for quadros. So you are essentially doubling speed and boosting vram for a similar price of an equivalent quadro.
This is of course assuming you want a pc.

At $4000, i7-9750H + Quadro RTX 5000 > i9-9xxxH (which throttle) + Any AMD GPU for sure.

@@Ifalvarado that directory contains my current wallpaper. It doesn't have the have featured in the video. I have a razer laptop that's not a studio one so I don't have that wallpaper. Keep checking the razer webpage for wallpapers and they might upload it there

Synapse collects user data. A problem in some professional environments. Would be preferable to be able to set the keyboard color with an offline app, or in the bios.

that web cam though.... I can't wait for Razer to update the webcam on their laptops, so I can stop using my usb webcam that I have to bring everywhere I go. Not a deal breaker but the webcam upgrade would be nice, considering the price too.

Wow for $4,000 it should have at least came with an 8-Core for a laptop claiming to be a studio edition. I guess the cost went straight to the GPU.
There will be a 17 inch version that will have the 8 core.

Boring to anybody that's not a content creator.
Krane a laptop like this can be perfect for specific types of gamers who need high quality GPU encoding and specialized apps to run alongside the game.
A real shame you tested Premiere Pro instead of Davinci Resolve. Premiere doesn't utilize all that this laptop has to offer and you would see a much bigger difference if you tested a 6k or 8k export in Davinci with color grade applied. That program loves GPU power. Not hating on Premiere, but it isn't a very optimized program :)

Talal Al dhuwaihi I actually bought this 15 inch Razerblade studio with Quad RTX etc. but I bought it a month before the new Mac came out. It still is cheaper than the maxes out 16 inch Mac and it is a good computer. But was just wondering how they compared with Rendering in C4D, my main purpose for it.

GPU in the Macbook Pro is much worse
The Razer has better screen, better looks, better gpu. Mac is slightly bigger screen, better trackpad, maybe keyboard?, better speakers, better cooling (vents on edge so u can use Macbook on your lap, Razer has vets directly underneath meaning use on lap is restricted), Apple has better customer support. Clearly there are pros and cons for both machines depends on what features are more important to you. I watch alot of movies in bed so I prefer Macbook cooling system but then again the Razer has a much better looking display. Difficult choice. Also keep in mind Apple are working on bringing in a new display on their products using Mini-LED technology which is supposed to be as good as OLED maybe even better. Some rumours suggest the new displays will rollout in 16" Macbooks in Q4 2020. If that is the case I would'nt mind waiting.

Actually the $4000 price point is $1000 less than the equivalent top of the line laptop from 5 years ago. Even so, a laptop of that caliber should come with a keyboard, and as far as I'm concerned, just leave off the crappy 1990s webcam. Nobody uses those except Uncle Sam to spy on you.
Anyway, its one thing to have these cards and CPUs, it something totally different to be able to run them efficiently without the throttling. No way a thin and light can handle the heat. Great vid, silly laptop.
I kind of hate that Razer makes us choose between 300 hz and a gorgeous OLED screen. The gamer in me wants to buy the 300 HZ option and max out games at ultra and play above 60 fps. However I hate matte LCD screens on laptops. They need to add a middle ground like a glossy LED screen or a 1440P OLED screen. Basically we should not have to pick between crappy screen that is optimized for the GPU or a 4K screen that you would have to turn settings down in game with.
Quadro vs GeForce video?
I don't think Quadro is made for video editing per se. But, CAD rendering and ray tracing all that kind of stuff.

They would be almost identical. They are pretty much the same card just the quadro has more memory and slightly more cuda cores and stuff. It would be literally un-noticeable.
