Just FYI for everyone I have a 2012 cruze . Changed the oil at 8.5k and olm 20%. According to blackstone I could have drove it another 500 miles before tje tbn became low. The tbn was at 1.6 low is 1.0.
My 1991 Oldsmobile Toronado had an Oil Life Monitor. It seemed pretty accurate, mileage-wise, even for the time back then when 3,000-4,000-mile oil changes were the norm.
Please post actual proof that GM has capped the oil life at 7500 miles, then I will believe you. It is known industry wide that GM has the most sophisticated oil life monitor system of any manufacturer. This system has saved fleet operators hundreds of thousands of dollars over years of operation.
I look at the OLM as a monitor that tells me how bad my oil is. You say 6 percent. That means your oil is 94 percent bad. I change my oil between 40-50 percent. Best oil is clean oil.
I don’t think it’s capped. I changed the oil at 7500 the first time around and it was reading about 15%. I just had it changed today, at 13k miles and the monitor was reading 10%; I doubt I could have driven another 2000 miles to make the “7500” interval without it depleting its life in the monitor. Instead, I think it takes into account the fact that I live in South Florida, that the climate is often hot, that we take very short drives in the car often to take my son to school and that those drives are a lot of stop and go in traffic. I bought the car in December 2022, and sans taking it for a roadtrip, we have only put 13k on it in over a year, so it is obvious it barely gets driven. I stick to reading the oil life monitor for intervals.
Change the oil at 50 percent on your OLM. Why do you want to run your car with only 50 percent of its strength. Best oil is clean oil. Oil and filter is the cheapest insurance for your engine. I use Walmart super Tech full synthetic oil with Motorcraft oil filter. Both at Walmart for around $20.00.
GM does have the BEST oil life monitor. Their algorithm is on point.

I'm at 7221.5 miles and it reads 6%..... sounds about right to me

I'm a gm mechanic there's no cap at this miliage, this was before they were bringing in dexos oil since then it can go 10k or more
They didn't they capped it to one yr or when your oil life is at 15%. I'm at 4k and 70 percent. I will test my oil at 15 percent
