    i got new $26,000 reman 12.7l from detroit that i installed 25k miles ago. starting last week, it has been having hard start. i would crank for 20 seconds before starting and if you leave it off for few hours, you would have to crank for that long again. took to dealer. injector "leaking internally' so they changed all injectors and orings and changed fuel lines and the check valve behind head. its working properly now but i thought with reman from detroit i will have trouble free motor for 500-600k miles. shit was immediately lol

    Great Video! You are exactly correct! I have an old 1992 Detroit series 60 and just got the carbon washers from Freightliner you were talking about. I didn't know about the 5th rubber washer however and will definitely be looking into this! Once again Great Video and explanation on this!

    Same thing happens on the Mack MP motors, other symptoms would be truck would lose fuel prime after sitting and if you looked in the fuel tanks the return lines would bubble up like an aquarium.

    Thank you sounds really similar to this what I'm having, aside from those symptoms my truck lost power I'm hoping it's an injector.

    Don't put 5th carbon gasket (graphite seal goes on tip of injector). I replaced my injectors o rings n added that 5th small graphite seal or carbon seal. Started diluting fuel in oil. Later found Detroit doesn't recomend using them especially if getting remanufactured head( maybe new style cups). So after 3 months, replaced o rings again, no carbon seal this time n dilution is gone. I guess just put thick black ring that sits on cup. Do calibrate injectors if changing them.

    I need 2 injectors replaced on cylinder 2 and 3. They are out of specs on the electrical response time.
    74 milliseconds for #2
    85 milliseconds for #3
    How much to replace and run an overhead?
    I'll be coming through Lincoln Saturday or Sunday.

    great video, I've been dealing with an issue for almost 2 years. works fine in summer over 75 degrees. but in winter or colder fall or spring will sputter especially when loaded and plume of white smoke and smell of diesel rich exhaust. not all the time but upon acceleration or if I slam the gas pedal. it will not do this until engine temp hits 150-175 degrees. did cutoff test and nothing shows up...... now I have a new issue since nobody knew what was problem I just let it go and took it easy, but now I feel engine runny a bit crappy and highway speeds loss of power and I need higher rpm to pull heavy with engine feeling bumpy like vibrating. took to mechanic for another cutoff test and I have 2 injectors acting up. one weak and one dead. should I replace all my injectors or just the ones that are affected. also should I replace harness. I plan on replacing 2 and replacing all o rings on the rest. any recommendation on cheaper reman from internet like ebay or hhw parts or other 3rd party. thanks 2008 Columbia 14L 60 series. I'm struggling with this decision

      My suggestion would be to change all o rings and adjust valves. I think if you do that you should be fine.

    Hell you ain’t lying about the temp. I replaced my thermostats and pretty sure they’re bad or something but gotta be stuck open I’m cruising at 150/160 water oil and it’s usually 170/190 and the difference in power is crazy noticeable, pulling 45k easily one of not two gears up.

    Having same problem sputtering white smoke on an off.Can they check with computer if its bad injector no engine light

      will not throw the check engine light on you have to physically pull each individual injector out inspector or rings.

    Great video. I have 2008 Columbia with Detroit series 60. In cold weather it starts up rough and and there's alot of white smoke with no power once it warms up its ok. Sometime if I put my foot down after changing gear it misfires and white smoke comes out if I press the pedal gradually it is fine. Any idea what it could be? Thank you

      Zahid Khurshid That’s more sounds like you’re losing fuel pressure overnight check that check valve on the back of the head on the return liner

    My truck runs great for about 2 hours after that it will lose power and blows alot of black smoke I lose speed when going up a little hill empty too and sometimes it will misfire and blow white smoke for like 3 secs and then go what could cause this issue? It's a 12.7 detriot 2002

    Hope u can help me out here sir I got a c15 acert .mchanic did an overhaul six months later head gasket problem doing pressure on the radiator leaking water fixed it then six months later again same problem pressure in radiator???

    Been lookn for this video for 3 years now...i have a 08 columbia detroit 60 series...gettn poor fuel mileage no power uphill n it takes forever to get up to speed...im tired of mechanics taking my money but i do know i have a leaking injector

      Christopher Colligan Check all your sensors.60 series Detroit known for boost Sensor gets stuck at 5 to 6 PSI gives the wrong information to the ECM and you could lose the power from that too.But it wouldn’t hurt to pull the injectors out and inspect them especially the O-rings.

    Can bad fuel injector cause power loss? I ve changed everything on my truck except fuel injectors. I still got no power.

      Injectors are a critical component when it comes to driveability and performance. I would recommend having your injectors tested at a dealer or shop that is capable of looking at injector response timing and can also do a cylinder drop test. Injectors don't last a long time and need to serviced or replaced. If you don't have record of service or replacement of the injectors, I would take it in to make the determination of what you need to do.

    That looks like N2 injector for 12.7 pre egr. Are u sure there is a fifth o ring or washer that goes on tip on that injector? Can u please refer to the year of series 60 u r talking about? Thx

      @@arsentrucking7883need help. Got my series 60 rebuilt. I've a ddev4 series 60 year 2001. Dealership and my local mechanic don't recommend crush washer at the tip. They say it goes on 14L series 60 2003 and up. Can u please specify the year of series 60 u worked on this? Thx.

      So I too have a ddec 3 ..I just replaced injectors..and added the graphite washer on top..but I never knew there was a 5th o ring just above the injector tip...just the three around injector body....and mine has a slight stuble at idle...starts fine/ runs fine..but these rebuild injectors I put on is not cutting it for me??
      What's your thoughts..

      @@quewat3676 No graphite washer goes on tip ofthat injector. Just o rings. If u add graphite washer on 12.7, it will dilute fuel into oil.

    I believe this is wrong with mine. It does exactly this. When cold runs perfect even under load. As soon as it warms up I get a miss and it seeps to sputter a bit. No smoke at all but do see air bubbles in fuel tank

      Did it mainly sputter at a certain rpm in high gears?

      @@133chaser it does it a steady idle like 1100 rpm and almost feels like it's in one cylinder. Then when driving loaded keeps getting worse and worse

      I replace my injector no4 I haven't set the trim on it in the box from frieghtliner would they come with all the seals like your saying because I'm still getting sputtering when I push down the accelerator!     Truck been sitting for a yr, yeah I know....so...it has power, wants to go, but has bad skipping, ran computer, cleared codes... nadda changed, blowing black smoke, gets better around 65mph, but still has skipping, put back on computer, not throwing codes, plz help

    Hey brother good vid. I just inspect my truck looking inside my fuel tanks and they both throwing bubbles ...also I loose fuel prime when I park truck during weekends...cranks and cranks about 2 rounds of cranks then it fire up...
    It's most likely the injectors going bad or injectors cups?

      Check your fuel filter housing in the back of the head there’s a check valve on the return line

      Caterpillar it’s a lot easier you can remove install new injector cups without taking a head off
