The bowl is great. Did you find the fibers ‘stringy’? I’ve turned it green and had more ripping of the wood than other woods.

No, I didn't have any stringy fibers. It had some tearout, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Great color and grain in the bowl. The satin finish, but I was thinking when your started adding the finish that this piece was going to look fantastic with a gloss finish. Still great. I’m thinking I need to get hold of some elm. Great work.
This finish is a satin finish, so to achieve a high gloss, like your thinking isn't going to happen. Waterlox makes a gloss finish, but I don't like that crazy shine on my pieces.
It was not meant to be super shiny. I just dont like high gloss on my bowls. Resin bowls look amazing with that, but for me, I am satisfied with the look of the satin finish.
@@TanyaBecherWoodturning absolutely! This bowl is beautiful with the satin finish. I was just saying that as you applied it and it was wet glossy, my mind jumped to thinking it would be lovely with a high gloss finish. Beautiful either way.
