So proud of you. Keep it up. If you relapse don't make it some big thing or you'll fuck yourself psychologically. Artie's viewpoint is great - treat it like "I'll probably never use again" because that lets you keep going just because you know if you do it again you'll feel good for a short amount of time then feel *miserable* for all the time after that, and you use that instead of quitting because of some personal mandate you made like a New Years' Resolution. Anyway, I'm ranting, sorry about that. Just hope you are doing well. I'm on a similar trajectory, I quit last November and it has been a rough road, but I'm so happy I did it.

He has never been genuine. Part of his problem is his inability to be honest with himself. Whenever someone on Stern's show would point out Artie's lies, he exploded. Whenever someone there questioned Artie's bullshit, he would threaten to beat the shit out of them outside the studio. He wears his mistakes like they're badges of honor. I'd never in a million years think this is Artie from the Stern show, after watching a million TH-cam videos over the years. But the voice is the same. Good to see him doing good.
Yeah he looks like a completely different person, it's really weird.
That life would just physically transforms someone, not in a good way.
that's because when he got nose surgery they completely destroyed his nose. it looks a bit better now, but if you look up pics from like a year ago you will be shocked. his nose like caved in on itself. props to the doctors who helped him and his nose looks much better. still not great, but it's a masterpiece compared to what it was a year ago.
and it's not only the nose or the weight his entire bone structure looks different, so damn weird.
@@Gyork_ idk... the nose is in the center of the face. when it changes that drastically of course you look like a different person.
For Joe to travel to New Jersey for a podcast with a friend outside the limelight truly speaks volumes about his character.
I think Joe was in New York for the fights lol
Yeah but to actually cross over into Jersey is a different story Ben! Haha yeah no, that's a good point. I forgot the fight was in New York
@@ToothyBeej You're making a valid point. I'd rather drive from NJ up through NY state and into Vermont than go anywhere near northeastern NJ / NYC.

@altruistic angel Thanks I will!
I have been sober for 8 years, and on some of the meds he talks about. Been through alot that he has. This was cool to listen too.
I’ve been following this guy since his Stern days, and I’ve NEVER seen him look this healthy.
His name is Artie, not "this guys". Also, you clearly never saw him on Stern in the first 4 to 5 years (2001 to early 2006) when he was thin and didn't have a stutter. From early 2006 until the end of 2009 is when he became really fucked up on Stern. Also, he looked REALLY healthy about a year before he got fired (he lost a lot of weight and got a tan and a new girlfriend, but that didn't last).
Calm down Jessica....he didn’t mean to offend yo man!

A word of advice: don't boast about how long you've been drug free on youtube comments
Artie is one of the BEST storytellers. Answers the questions with story’s that enhance the answers.
I like that sober mind of Artie where he can go off on various tangents related to the story, but always comes back to the original topic or question. awesome stuff artie congrats bud
He is a genius, he is like the only guest that always knows what the original question was
He has definitely honed in on the experience gained working with Stern.
I had this about many celebrities that they start answering a question with a story and then just forget all about the question and head another direction to a different topic but Artie was on point about what he was being asked.

Not that smart.
Smart enough to replace mayor Rob Ford or Chris Christie if you ask me.
This is the greatest interview to watch when you think you can’t go on bc of any drug or drink.
Artie is a great example of this, and how you can get through it.

2 months clean.. this helped me right at the start of it. Thank you.
Hope you're still clean bro! If not try again !
Hope you survived quarantine
@@Platerpus7 Ha yeah quarantine was rough for former addicts, speaking from experience. If you used I hope you also survived it. If not that's ok, you can still do it, it's never too late to try :). If not then, well, you must be very insightful to notice that, and I respect your perspective.

Totally agree. First time since I've heard of him. For some reason I always felt like he would be sober one day. Maybe he's meant to be an example to us all on how low you can get and still recover.

Jade Zee exactly hes full of garbage
He’s a sociopath (trust me it takes one to know one), he’s a pathological liar to start, drugs/sociopathy, a bit of both. That’s only to start.
Listen to the joy in his voice when he talks about his fuck-ups. if he really wanted to change his life direction, he'd walk away from cameras and microphones for a decade and avoid all interviews. He won't. He's seduced by the spotlight. It's only a matter of time, alas...

Joe is right. I was a massive opiate addict for a long time. I’m now addicted to exercise. Odd, but at least I’m clean. Hope Artie is doing well
Exercise is the only way I know to stay clean. I either go to the gym after work and get flooded with endorphins and dopamine that way or I stop for a beer and other substances. I'm a much better person after the gym instead of dope
Man I have to get serious about this myself. I used to be addicted to working out in high school but became a heroin addict by the time I graduated. Now I'm 39 and have been on opiates for 20+ years. The last 10 only methadone tho. I've been stable on a lower dose the last 3 years and finally been able to not fuck around trying to take extra to get high. I'm not overweight or anything like that but I'm feeling my age HARD. If I don't commit to getting in shape and seriously tapering off I know the rest of my life will not be fun.
@@noahsmith9025 You can do it, brother. Just start slow with the exercise. And if you have that addictive personality, which it appears you do, you will get hooked. @@papialeman Likewise. It’s annoying having to exercise everyday, but for me to stay clean, it’s a must. I’m such a routine person now that if I don’t exercise, I feel I have failed. And for me, failure is an awful feeling because for too long in life, I failed miserably! Good luck!
