I haven't seen Bill Burr get roasted like this and have a lot of fun in the process. He's usually a stone cold killer but here he's warm and vulnerable and took the jokes very well. I have a new respect for John Lovits for making Bill this relaxed.
Bill tends to be hostile towards younger comics he doesn't know.. but for people he knows from way back, he's way more open and ready to take abuse. Jon Lovitz is a pretty legendary comic.. I mean he was already known / famous in the Seinfeld days so.. I'm sure it's a privilege to be sparring with someone that Bill probably admired when he was up and coming.
Such an amazing, savage burn, thrown out so casually - this is the kind of stuff comedians do to each other in private that we never get to see and it is glorious.
God finally answered my prayers. Lovitz and Burr together, trading masterful insights, and insults, is the holy grail of the comedic universe. Thank you God. Thank you indeed.
