    Fantastic video. It made the job very easy! Thank you. A couple of tidbits that might help others over a few little hurdles. 1) Before loosening bolts holding the mounting fins to the blower housing or the square head bolt that holds the blower to the motor shaft, you should mark the shaft where it meets the collar it slides through (you can see this point around 3:46 in the video). This is the point you want the replacement motor shaft to sit after you install it so that the blower will end up sitting in the housing at the same location it was originally. After I extracted the old motor, I set it on the floor with the shaft facing up and measured the distance from the floor to the mark. I then measured that same distance on the new motor and made a mark. This allowed me to reassemble the system easily. There is one other part of the disassembly/reassembly you need to pay attention to in order to ensure the blower sits properly in the housing. The motor is gripped by a ring that has 3 mounting fins on it. That ring can be set anywhere you want on the motor along the axis parallel to the shaft. You should make note of where this point is on the old motor and then make sure you reinstall the mounting ring at the same point on the new motor. Also, the 3 fins can be slide up and down a bit when you reinstall them in the mounting ring. If you mark the fins before disassembling them, you can make sure all those distances match up with the old installation so that your blower ends up in the right spot. 2) When you have the blower extracted and you're looking at it as shown around 3:04 in the video, either take a picture or make a note of where all the wires are coming out of the motor with respect to the rest of the housing. This will allow you to install the new motor at the same angle as the old one. This will minimize the chances that the new wires will end up needing to be draped across the rotating blower after you install the new motor. 3) Inserting the new motor as shown around 6:28 in the video makes it pretty difficult to ensure that the flat portion of the motor shaft is lined up with the square headed bolt that fixes it to the blower. I flipped the whole unit upside down compared to the view shown around 6:28. This also has the advantage that the blower is a lot lighter than the motor so it's a bit easier to manipulate it. You'll likely want to gently tighten that square head bolt when you get the blower on. You just want it tight enough so that when flip the unit over to re-install the 3 bolts that go through the rubber mounting grommets, the blower doesn't slide off the shaft. After you have the motor bolted back to the housing, then flip the whole thing over again, loosen the square headed bolt, and adjust the blower axially on the shaft until it lines up with mark you made in suggestion 1) above. 4) My unit had a larger capacitor (7.5 uF) than was provided with the motor you can buy easily from Amazon (5 MFD). I installed the new cap. anyway and it seems to work fine.

    Would you be willing to do a video about how to replace the filter on one of these? I can't for the life of me find where it's supposed to go and your video is the most recent and reliable one I've seen on this furnace type.

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The filter is on the right side, bottom of the furnace. There will be a cap you take off. It may also be on the left side depending on your installation.

      @@johnniemo thank you for your response! It seems it was installed with the blower on top 🤔 but I don't see a cap or even a space where a filter could fit. Maybe it's time to have someone come in to look at it haha.

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@keynayoung9496 are you sure it's the same furnace as mine in the video? The blower has to be at the bottom. I can't see any other way it would work. The filter will be on the cold air side. I don't think there is any mandate how close it needs to be to the furnace. I would look up stream a bit if you can.

    How did you get get the info for the replacement motor? Did you just search the model number of the unit or were you able to see the number on the motor before ordering?

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You know what... I don't remember. I'm pretty sure I based it on model number. They are a pretty standard item. Horsepower seems to be the determining factor. As you can see though, it's not hard to remove the old motor to check.

    I have the weather maker 8000 but not the TS model. Everything looks the same and I wonder if the motor would be the same as I’m doing some preventative maintenance on my unit and replacing this and the actuator motor also..

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Well, I think the TS stands for "two speed" so I would guess the motors are different. But my motor could also run at one speed all the time (i.e. high speed). It's hard to find information on this, as TS could stand for two-stage, but I don't believe mind is a two stage. So two-speed.... final answer.

    • @gordonswitrad1268
      @gordonswitrad1268 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@johnniemo I have a 8000 TwoSpeed (without TS in the name,) hence no clue on why TS,
      Maybe another way to name the same thing.
      My furnace part number 8000 TwoSpeed is 58TUA100-12
      Motor is same S336 S, Motor allow 3 speeds (depending upon which wire is connected from Red /Blue/Yellow/Black (orange on some motor) to White.)
      The service man/installer may have taken it's own decision to use Medium speed in place of Low speed (motor can do 3 and some even 4 speeds)
      Basically High speed on cooling may differ from High speed on Gas heating.
      So BE CAREFULL TO CHECK the color code used on your OWN equipment and rewire it as it was.
      (May differ to TH-cam or even what Carrier suggest)
      Medium Speed choice is based on your air duct system. This should not be changed without care as it impact air temperature at medium speed.
      Always a good idea to take a pic before dismantling

    • @johnniemo
      @johnniemo  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      As I recall there was no marking. So I guessed. If there are no markings, it's probably fine. My background as an electronic engineer tells me that electrolytic capacitors are polarized, and so I get a bit spooked, but I had no issues.
